  • :O Thrillers are nothing for this movie!

  • PONIES

  • @jordancoggan you saw fluttershy too?

  • @ssendas2 EEEyup.

  • I once bought the LP for the sake of the title track. Now I´m way much older and this is really breathtaking - the clips from the movie with the music and all.

  • ..the music represents the sadness of what we have created here on Earth. If we just would have listened more to the Native Americans instead of putting them in recluse, we wouldn't be here where we are today......out of control, balance, and not giving back what we have taken. WE are are own demise.

  • I remember seeing this when it came out and it blew me away. I listened to this with headphones on whilst BBC 24 News was on my TV screen. The music with the images of war in Lybia, 9/11 scenes with the anniversary, earthquakes and so on was incredible.

  • @DanreesSTBT95

Koyaanisqatsi is from the Native American Hopi language... it means:

    1. crazy life 2. life in turmoil 3. life out of balance 4. life disintegrating 5. a state of life that calls for another way of living

  • Is this russian..?

  • @DanreesSTBT95 Koyaanisqatsi means something like "life in changes" or "life that want to be changed" its a language called Hopi i think and is a languages from some american indians

  • ::: its scary, but intriguing.

  • @SnaggaSheeYoung nobody agrees with you.

  • @SnaggaSheeYoung "Satanic" refers to a religious belief. Besides the fact that you're a judgmental cunt for disregarding an entire group of people, this track is too abstract to represent that ideology. You sound like a fucking middle-schooler.

  • @SchizoManatee The middle-schooler is probably you, to not respect other opinions than yours, that called a fascist tought, im not religious at all but this song have something unhealthy, i dont know how explain that, ... but a last think, I lost more of repartee that you will never have, so please dont come crying at my opinion, cause that the first think representing the teenage rebellion ... Have a nice day.

  • @SnaggaSheeYoung You're the one who implied that Satanism is inherently bad, and you call me fascist? All I said was that this track is too abstract to represent the ideology; it's a simple minor progression, the lyric "Koyaanisqatsi" is Hopi, and doesn't reference Satan. Therefore, you are wrong. Besides that, I can barely decipher your irreparably fractured English. Seriously, what country are you from? Just type in your language and I'll use Google translate.

  • @SchizoManatee If I took your way of thinking, fascism is not bad as it fought against communism ... Their both ideology was wrong, Satanism is based on selfishness and pleasure materialistic sado-masochism, and sexual excesses, and the religion of the dead do'm around for countless years to and therefore not kept its promise peace so both are bad! For my bad English just trying to speak French so I will laugh, I learned English by myself! (traduction by google) ps:That worst than my english...

  • @SnaggaSheeYoung Communism isn't inherently wrong, but fascism is. Satanism is not Hedonism. I think religion is bullshit in the first place, but the way that you differentiate "good" and "bad" religions is so childish and narrow-minded that I can't even take you seriously. And I still can't understand you very well. Study up; your English is sloppy.

  • @SchizoManatee look what did communism in the past, and for religions i think only Buddhism respect others with an open mind on the world ... But if you take "Satanism" that inspired : Destruction, materialism, perversity ... and if you take by example "Christianism" that inspired : Creation, spiritual, love ... But in what they said not in acts. Religion make wars like politics cause they want impose their system at the rest of the world. Just my opinion ...

  • @SchizoManatee After we need make the difference between believers and leaders of religions like we need make the difference between army and civilians, because leaders are responsible and they make rules on the top of the pyramid ...

  • @Linguma ???

  • @SnaggaSheeYoung its not satanic lol

  • Boom mother fucker!

  • That Saturn V must be like the nine wonder of this world...

  • This is Magic!!!

  • "Opening" shows a close-up of the Saturn V rocket from the Apollo 12 mission during liftoff. "Ending" shows stock footage of a rocket lifting off and then exploding. (The film is actually two separate events — the first moments of the launch is a Saturn V rocket, while the rocket shown clearing the tower and later exploding is the first Atlas-Centaur, which was launched on May 8, 1962). The footage follows a flaming rocket engine as it plummets to earth.

  • @botticelli375 Thanks for explaining this. I am probably one of many who thought it was the explosion of the Challenger, though I was convinced - correctly - that I saw Koyaanisqatsi before the Challenger disaster. And yet the images (at least in my mind's eye) are so shockingly similar, entwined. First, I realise, in the early 80s, I saw the film Koyaanisqatsi - and then in 1985 like millions of others I witnessed the end of the Challenger in the blue sky as captured in the television news.

  • @botticelli375 pretty good botticelli, Saturn 5 launch, how did you know the date of the Atlas launch? I would say it could be 62 or a bit earlier in 60 or 61 when they Atlas's were still failing in tests, though others failed in later years... it may have been detonated by range safety deliberately.. The Atlas went on to have a 40 year sucessful program.. I love how this was used when I first saw this on PBS in the 80's..

  • @botticelli375 wasnt that the "Challenger" that blew up on January 28, 1986 that was shown in the film?

  • @818ironmaiden I think it was an early Atlas-Centaur rocket. The movie is from 1982 btw.
