Looks epic. I'll be happy to see some more GOOD shooters now, especially by ID. Fallout 3 and Borderlands were pretty sucky, and I think the video game market needs more post apocolyptic stuff, so Rage is looking pretty sweet.

I don't know about borderlands, but Fallout 3 was an amazing game. The only times I hear people complain on it is when they can't get out of Vault 101 or they can't handle thinking in a game.

Id didn't invent the FPS genre... in the 70s there was Spacsim and 3d Maze War, in the 80s there was Castle Master and Dungeon Master to name just a couple, in the early 90s there was Hired Guns, plus the early Elder Scroll games. Whilst not as advanced or sometimes considered FPS games they were the genres origins. Id certainly made massive advances and had a huge impact but they really did not invent it. Anyway Duke Nukem 3d was better than Quake and Doom... :)

Sooo, Rage is not the original apocalyptic game (not to mention we can take in the whole Fallout series and 3 was just a more than likely continuation). Borderlands, however, is NOT apocalyptic. It is an abandoned planet because no profits came of it, a giant ghost town.

@kuptai i never said they ripped off fps. i think fps and driving is a great idea. i simply think that they're returning to an environment that's been used too many times recently- fallout was just the first thing that popped into my head. it would be really nice if they hadn't just taken a standard gaming environment and stamped their name on it, when they could have made something completely new- i'm yet to see an fps set in a COMFORTABLE looking spaceship, or a gta London.

The design for rage started in late 2006 and Id usually takes its time developing. And Borderlands was revealed in late 2007. So calling it a ripoff is non-valid really.

But it looks good, but alas I need new hardware to run it.

Jeez, I congratulate ID for coming up with a post-apocalyptic game apparently 'before everyone else', but they came late to the game, with a clear rip off of Borderlands's graphic style.

While the vehicles look fun, and the graphics are amazing, there are too many things redone from other games.

Sure, they made some great games, but ripping off of other game's graphic styles and ideas and putting them into one game is just piracy. ID can do better than this.
