  • Thanks man, now I can do bar chord :) but when I put other fingers my bar muted strings, I hope I just need more practice :)

  • I'm somewhat of an advanced player but still run into problems when barring in difficult pieces. I've read this theory a million times but decided to find some reference to review it as I've just started playing classical again after a very long hiatus. This is by far the best demonstration/explanation I've seen. Awesome teaching skills man!

  • I just can't do this , I don't know why , I always put my hand like this , and my finger like this , and after this lessons , I was trying , and trying , but I can't , I don't know what it is , but my fingers are like that . . .

I can't put my fingers like you did and put them on the flet , I can make my fingers like that , but it isn't logical , when you put your fingers like in practice and pull it back , to press all of them :((((((

  • @EnesEny Man Practice more :))) u can do it

  • Great Vid, Thanks!

  • Excelent and patient explanation. My barchords are buzzing and you made me understand why. Now i can try to remedy it. Thanks!

  • ah!! what you're doing is really great!! thanks a lot!!

  • im switching from rock style to classical style, ITS HARD lol. thanks for this video.... theres not enough classical trainers

  • thanks that helps a lot but i still cant do a clear bar on the 1 fret

  • Gaw!!! Thank you! I have been working out a piano injury from poor technique, and realized that I also have poor technique on guitar. This helps so much!!!

  • wow thank you

  • I take lessons from him, excellent teacher

  • ppl u dont need to do this..u dont need to barre all the strings with the first finger just barre the strings that the other fingers wouldnt be on..so mostly it would be just 3 strings..

  • @lefthandovRA

    than , you will barre E G B E , and' it's kind a hard

  • Thanks, SIR . It gave me an idea to hold down the barre chords on my guitar that I hadn't before.

  • i afraid i will spoil my guitar....haha!

  • I need a concave index finger like yours. How can you bend it backwards like that???

Must admit I've always done the arm-to-the-side thing. Time to start anew with the "way to the arm" mode. Thanks for the lesson!

  • @hyperboreal HA! I was thinking exactly the same thing. My index finger just won't bend like that.

  • Thanks for making this video, it's appreciated!

  • THANK you ! I had thought that my long, bony fingers, lacking in fat between the joints was a physical handicap. Thanks to you, I, now, know better. Your teaching communication is very clear. God bless you ...

  • @mpc48B Wish I had long, bony fingers. My short stubby fingers are a much bigger handicap.

  • You are a very clear teacher..thank you for this...It really helped!

  • What about the thump and its position? Should it have to be right behind of the index finger?

  • Thanks a lot Kevin ,appreciated!

    Best Regards from Athens

  • what videocam are you using? its nice. very clear picture

  • you're a cool teacher

  • Thank you very very much, You helped me a lot ...

  • One of the few great lesson's on youtube! Very good info for guitarist. Thank You

  • This helps a lot. Thank you!

  • Amazing lesson thank you !!! it worked for me <3

  • i have a problem.... i do barre chord just fine...

its just my 'HIGH E' ( first string ) always buzzing or dead

    the others are not...

any tips or tricks... ill appriciate it

  • @PilotGery1 when this used to happen to me too, it was because I'd press the E with the soft very base of the index. I placed my finger so that the tip of it was just above the 6th string, so that there was some space of the finger left for the high E too (lol), and it worked. Or you can sliiiightly turn your index so that you can use some of the hard, right side of it on the strings too (and not just the under-side). This normally is enough for better pressure on all strings. Just experiment ;P

  • Great lesson and teacher. Thanks and keep going.

  • Great lesson,Thank you

  • thanks Kevin sorted out my problems cheers

  • Super! These videos are excellent. Thank you very much!

  • cooooooooooool

  • really thanks useful!!!

  • >,< ive always used my thumb and finger for strength on holding a bar and I never can get all notes clear.. now when I use the weight of my arm I get a clear sound but now the pitch of the strings get sharp because when I do that I seem too pull the neck back a bit lol...

  • thanks for this lesson

  • Kevin,

I've been working on Lagrima and using your barre cord technique it is much cleaner and I can transition to and from the barre cords much better.

    Thanks

  • super

  • Very helpful. Thank you.

  • Definetely a pain in the ass, mastering the barré.

  • This is one of the most helpful lesson on barre chords..

    Thank you so much

  • Thanks! I never paid much attention to the arm position. It really helps!

  • Thank you so much Kevin. My hand gets really sore from barring, hopefully this will help somewhat.

  • Wow, the arm positioning really makes things much easier on the fingers. Thank you, Kevin, for the great video. :)

  • I stopped for two or three days before I picked up the guitar again. After that, it became mush easier. You need to build up the strength of the fingers gradually, So, stay in there. Work on the barre one fret every day or every two days.

  • @DJPeteJames

Hi, what kind of strings are on your guitar, I mean steel or nylon? Steel strings will require greater force than nylon strings. My very first guitar was steel strings and the guitar was really cheap, around 10 dollars. But then that was 35 years ago. During the first two days, the finger really really hurt, especially the finger tips. I soldiered on, practising everyday for 1 to 2 hours. After one week, the finger tips lost most senses.

  • omg....u r the man....i have been hoping someone addressed this issue...wow....u hit the nail right on head.....Thank you so very much...I still think I need a lot of practice :)

  • Thanks Kevin very instructive .. now my barre is ok up to the 7th fret above that my arm comes into my side again to get up the neck so i cannot use the technique you advise, any suggestions?

  • hey man, i not realy sure how to do the last exercise can someone help?

  • you need to play for about 2-3 hours a days for about 2-3 weeks and then your problem will be solved super genius. no instrument is easy or comfortable. by the way your finger tips will burn for about 2 weeks(like a football coach says.. play through the pain)

  • Thank you muchly for your generosity! You know how to explain things beyond well, with CLARITY. Can't wait to try. 4 years into the guitar.here goes...

  • when i play barre chords my thumb always hurt after playing them after a while

  • your squeezing too tight, try practicing barre chords with your thumb lifted off the back of the neck. actually, this is a good all around exercise to learn to use the right amount of pressure. also, the pressure should come naturally from the weight of your arm and you should not be exerting much force.

  • Thank you freind, you are a guitar God.

    Cheers.

  • Very good! Great!!!

  • a na akustyku? gówno to daje. nie da sie tak palca wygiąć ;/ beznadzieja 1/5

  • Thanks alot man.

  • Wow. I think I feel the same as everyone here. I have been searching for this solution- and no one has been able to explain this. Now I can play! It wasn't my weak hands!

  • Im 5 ft 10 and 140 lbs,,my fingers are so small but im still trying,,i love the sound of the 3 nylon strings on my guitar, very pleasant<

  • Great!!! It works like a charm. Thanks for posting this.

  • Dude, I sooooooooo need to find me a teacher again! Man, this looks really helpful. I can't wait to go get my guitar and try it. Bar chords have been a challenge since i resumed playing classical as my main choice of music. Went through a steel string and electric phase there for a while and the narrower neck and different set-up does make it easier to get sloppy and still sound ok. thanks for posting.
