@sucka23454321 You command armies, of course. Duels are a quite small part of the game, actually. There is an option to leave armies aside and challenge the other general in a fight, but the other general has to accept the challenge, too (if he doesn't, he gets penalised with a lower morale on his troops).

ROTK all day!!! i liked 3 and 4 back in the day and still play em...now i have mixed feeling....ever since i bought 8 from blockbuster for like....no money (yea i kno) ive been hooked on that style so when i got 10 it was like christmas in summer!!! then i got 11 and i was like <.< noooo..... i like being underrated and commanded till i get enough fame to be viceory and one day take over i dont wanna start out the ruler and only be able to tell pplz to far,atcc,build.....

bring over many officers from the 2nd district and march some to the empty city nearby. use that as a distraction while sending the lui bei army through the gates. i did it with just 20 days remaining on my second attempt.
