  • Does anyone know what those bobblehead guys are supposed to be? o_O

  • *-*

  • why swedish bands are so fucking perfect??

  • *-*

  • Ohh COME ON!!! The ending is one o the best things in the album and they cut it???? WTF?!

  • I just cried... this is the most beautiful work of art I have ever heard/seen. This song is probably their best song that represents them as a band. This mournful dirge manages to completely blend Death Metal and Melodicism an such a harmonious way that they don't even seem to be two different sounds, but one and the same. All the intensity and power of Death Metal, living symbiotically with the grace, emotion, and beauty that comes from good, clean acoustic songs. Bravo. Bravo.

  • @Warheart11 *acoustic/classical

  • The video is just AWESOME!!

  • this is the best song on the album...like the past few albums, they're released some of the best songs on the album as the last track

  • Oh and another point worth adding concerning intertextuality and owls:

The "owl of minerva" (see Glaucus at wikipedia) is a famous from a quote by Hegel referencing the retrospective nature of all philosophical insight.

The owl symbolizes wisdom (because of its ability to see in the dark) and is associated to Minerva.

And Minerva (93) on the other hand is, guess what, also the name of a large asteroid in our solar system.

  • Btw: Did anyone notice that the owl is carrying a book by R.M. Rilke (at 0:47)? A reference to his "Zweite Elegie" (in the "Duineser Elegien" in English "Duino Elegies") where he speaks of "tödliche Vögel der Seele":

An English translation of the quote:

Every Angel is terror. And yet, ah, knowing you, I invoke you, almost deadly birds of the soul.

  • I don´t understand this song.

  • This is the best music video I have ever scene.

  • fuckin bombastic sound!!! I love the slow melody

  • the wierdest video i have ever seen. ever. i <3 it.

    2010's best album

  • My favourite song from "We Are The Void"! :)

  • LOVE!

  • Goddamn. That was really beautiful. Seriously brought a single manly tear to my eye

  • See you on Metalinvasion !! :D

  • Easily my favorite off WATV, the blackened aspect works really well. The video reminds me of Gojira's All the Tears

  • Do not call this an ART or you'll die.

  • dark tranquillity are so goddamn genious!! they come up with better ideas each time and never gets old

  • beautiful song. video starts off great but kinda seems like im watching a winamp visualization after awhile. thats not a complaint because i like those, but i expected somewhat of a more epic ending to it.

  • Powerful, bravo

  • This song in particular reminds me of The Czar by Mastodon

  • great song !

  • The fact that this song has 200k views, and suicide silence in the related videos has over 6 million makes me a sad panda :(

  • @Regressor13 This could be because Suicide Silence is Mainstream Deathcore and every Wannabe Hard kid want them because of Constantly Screaming and Breakdowns...i just watched a few videos of Dark Tranquillity and i am surprised it seems like they have a mix between Doom/Melodic Death/Black Metal. I Listen mostly old bands, no Core stuff like Suicide etc. I think this bands is better than every Core band these days! keep the Good Metal coming! \m/

  • This is what I call an epic song.

I'm so glad they made a videoclip of my favourite song of "We Are The Void" album.

Thumbs up if it's your favourite too!

  • Fuckin SICK!!

  • I was there in Leipzig/Hellraiser....thanx guys, it was unbefuckinglievable!!!!! ;)

  • 201216 only?? for such perfect song?! what is wrong with the people in these days?!

  • @FBHI They all watch that autotunned rap crap that's what

  • Best Band's EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm depressed as fuck right now and this song just makes me feel so numb, I love it.

  • i'm going to watch this vid while on LSD, it'll make me mental for sure

  • gogo 200k views

  • @bemushroomed1

not really. As far as i know anders delivered vocals for DT in only one album, ie Sky dancer which i don think is something great or awesome considering Mikael Stanne's performance on the remaining albums until now.

  • 2 words. Kick. Ass. The rest is self explanatory.

  • at around 3:00 it reminds me of the Fountain for some reason.

  • @Bernilius Yeah it's pretty much the same concept at this point. The music is also similar. Good point!

  • Ok, i want an iridium sword ...!!!

  • 0:55 that scream make me cry!!! I love it!!

  • Though i don't so much care for dark tranquillity, i really do like this song... So relaxing.

  • the beginning melody sounds like ''in my time of need'' from OPETH

  • so unbelievably awesome and beautiful!!

  • @AmonAmarthNW lol!!, are you comparing mikael stanne, the best metal vocalist out their with the shitty sound of anders?!!. I bet you'r a justin bieber fan to do that.

  • @MANUKAIF Aren't you forgetting Anders Frieden was the ORIGINAL lead singer of DT? Are you calling their first albums shit as well?

    Morons.

  • I'm Tripping Balls! o.O

  • In flames fans, please tell Anders Friden to get some vocal lessons from Mikael Stanne.

  • @MANUKAIF and you, just stfu, cause they have both amazing voices ;) go annoy Tokio Hotel or other pussies like them ;)

  • How do DT makes such awesome songs?!!. They are so amazing, i would say the best metal band out their. I'm in love with DT:-*

and that in flames some people mentions here, that shit useless shit. I started listening to in flames but after hearing DT once, i know who's the boss.

  • Nice video, epic song. But in the video version the end is missing, this awesome outfading. :(

  • EPIC SONG!

  • Inception of immaculate imagery impervious to imposters.

  • this song is epic sounding \m/ YEAHHH!

  • This Band always fail to disappoint me

  • @rneil100 How the fuck is this disappointing?

  • @MetalHatter Read it again, he said FAIL to disappoint. Meaning they don't disappoint and go beyond expectations.

  • I don´t get the owl.... but it´s good...

  • @nocturchaos I tend to see the owl as a reference to Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel's philosophy. To him everything was "mind" or "soul" (Geist) which was everywhere and determined everything. But man could see the Geist's work only after the incidents; "owl of wisdom's goddess Minerva will start flying only after the dark", so to say (free translation). Hegel's philosophy is really hard to interpret, but I hope this illuminated a bit and opened it to your interpretations :)

  • @hltunen Mmh^^ yeah.... I know Hegel... a German philosoph... It´s cool to see someone translating his works into English... Geist´s sounds funny... ^^ We call the plural form of Geist "Geister"...

But, hey, that soesn´t makes the song bad...

  • I fucking love this song and this video

  • The melody to the chorus of this song brings tears to my eyes. Its just beautiful.

  • Holy actual shit this is amazing

  • They're turning into in flames with all the weird cartoony shit.

  • @EnemyXofXreality666 Worries me too.. but the music is still mature.. in fact its more mature than any of their earlier albums.

  • @EnemyXofXreality666 In Flames wishes they were as good as Dark Tranquillity. For the record this song was originally written in 1998 for Projector... an album that sounds absolutely nothing like anything in Flames have done. Rethink yourself, Dark Tranquillity are the only band with the signature Gothenburg sound in tact (and they do as many fast songs as slow ones).

  • Seeing this stoned is fucking amazing.

  • @TheDretch i know lol i was laughing my dick off it blew me away

  • This is fucking amazing <3

  • i get a boner from the art style

  • It's so awesome! I don't know what to say... quite a while since a song gave me the shivers

  • this video has a certain tool aspect to it i think. very cool

  • this song is so beautiful and meaningful :'D

  • awesome video :D

  • I feel for that crying seal.

  • yea dude ur mom is awesome ;p

  • painful music :((((

  • Magnifica canción, muy epica

  • Its also about how humans are created with the help of the meteor, without the meteor, humans would probably not exist, since we are "fragile, naked, rare"

  • I saw them life last week and it was awesome!=D But i always waited for this song and they never played it!

  • @Waldmenschbaum i know what you mean :P

  • I want one of these paranoid alien bobbleheads from 3:30

  • Hm. Love this song. But I'm confused. On one part of the lyrics, it says "Each flare unique and rare". I could be wrong since everyone's saying it's "We fragile, naked, rare."

  • i dont care for the song but im thinkin about getting that owl tatted on me.

  • this is the first song from DT I have liked in ages.

  • <3

  • FANTASTIC

  • awesome song :D

  • This song is so fucking epic!

  • *Searches video about densest element Osmium* - Nothing found...

*Searches video about 2nd densest element Iridium* - Noth... oh, this video looks interesting

    *clicks*

    FUCK YEAH, THIS IS AWESOME!

  • @janparize2 why'd you search for iridium as the second desest element?

I'd search for it as one of the hardest things currently available to mankind.

  • like the MV!!!!!!!

  • fear of the owl!=D

  • Awesome video..

  • Gojira and Tool had a baby?

  • Are there any wallpapers out for this badass video?

  • This video is stunning, no matter how many times i watch it. The music is perfect as well.

  • P.s I Downloaded It on a SD Card For My DSI, And I Heard A Secret Ending Without Any Lyrix!

  • These Lyrix Are Easy To Memorize, And They Are Easy To Understand! Really!

  • I don't know what they've taken but I want the same!

  • The art in this video amplified the meaning of this song tenfold. The beginning scream where the man's voice bursts through the forest was so beautiful...

  • This song petty much represents the thing I like in Dark Tranquillity. This cosmic global feeling, like being out in the silent cold space or on a deserted planet... Once it was in In Flames, but in new IF it's just not there. But in new DT, awsome, such a f..ckin' masterpiece!

  • I failed trying to draw the man at the Beginning! Ps I'm this users NINE year old sister! I really like DT!

  • Niklas Sundin is an unbelievable guy!!! Amazing artist!!!

  • David Firth much?

  • This video is trippy

  • Interesujące wideo + szalony dźwięk = DARK TRANQUILLITY!

  • Mindblowing and astonishing.

  • BEAUTIFUL video!

  • This is one of the weirdest surrealistic MVs I've ever seen. Yet, its beautiful. It might be even more insane than Cat Soup.

  • I was supposed to be going to the Neckbreakers Ball in london in November 7th. Im gutted coz I bought my tickets and everything.

  • this video is about the apocalypse of whoville.

  • this is the total difference from the reality. for a moment, i teleported in another dimension

  • what a unique, beautiful song and video...

  • The meteors look like raining sperm

  • @ItsFrato Apparently I am not the only one who thinks this way)

  • HOLY SHIT!! This is soooooo Lovecraftian. The old ones. Yog Sothoth. Azathoth! OMFG I know they got their inspiration from Lovecraft.

  • 0:53, *innocent face appears* then out of a sudden... WAAAARGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • WOWWWWWW... QUE MARAVILLA... GENIAL POR DARK TRANQUILLITY...!!!

  • is it weird that this is my mom's favorite song?

  • @BillyandBarry no, that is not weird, that is just awesome

  • @BillyandBarry Interesting question :) it will probably be the favourite song of the mother of my children :D

  • @BillyandBarry no not at all

  • @BillyandBarry Not at all, it means your mom knows what good music is

  • Comment removed

  • incorrect. this is a metaphor on the existing of humans.

  • @BillyandBarry no it just means your mom is BADASS! :D

  • @BillyandBarry No, don't worry. But.. can I meet your mother anyway?

  • @BillyandBarry no. my fav sng in da wrld. its sum 2 rock out 2 and im only in da 6th grade

  • @shadow3lurker whoa man, your fav sng in da wrid? serious acclaim man.

  • @BillyandBarry lol. y not?

  • The song is about the extinction of the dinosaurs. Iridium is the substance that is the primary basis for the theory that a giant meteor killed the dinosaurs. Found in meteors, iridium was discovered in large amounts in the K-T geological boundary, the boundary dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.

  • @TheCrosswinds you're an idiot. That Video don't has to be explain....every of should make his own image of this video...

  • @TheCrosswinds you have a good point, but I doubt its about diosaurs, I think thats just a base, and its more about same thing happening to us, here and now (if ofcourse, an meteor would be hiting our planet)

  • @TheCrosswinds In the words of Carcass - go to hell. This video was way more fun when I thought it was just random images and animations. Now it all makes sense! :(

  • @TheCrosswinds You got half of it right. It talks about that and then how the creation of humanity "we fragile, naked, rare" was more devastating to the earth than the extinction of the dinosaurs "an end beyond compare"

  • @metalninja195 And how we pretend that all of our shit in society actually matters, although we'll have the same end as the dinosaurs.

  • @metalninja195 Actually, it's "Each flare unique and rare".

  • @metalninja195 But the official lyrics say "Each flare unique and rare" and it also sounds like that

  • @TheCrosswinds False.

  • @TheCrosswinds Cool story.

  • it may have killed the last ones off, but dinosaurs were dying out before the meteor hit. just helped them die alot quicker.

  • @TheCrosswinds I wish they could just hurry up and fiond out how they went extinct because my scince teacher won't shut up about it n has his OWN theory that from the dust and chemicals being released from the meteor caused this sudden layer of sediemnt which over years combined with decomposing tree's and etc the iridium formed an EARTH based form but is nowhere NEAR as roadioactive as the stuff found outter space! Way to big of a theory for my brain man!

  • May be an alien invasion (the vessels) orbiting earth, the Indians felt the Europeans as aliens when they came over on ships

  • lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • I have been trying to understand what this song is about since it was released. But now, the confusion is even greater.

  • @inpersonal It's about the end of the world, there are meteorites with the word "IRID" written in them, and it is believed that the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs had iridium.

  • This got to be the most amazing music video ever made!

  • I don't get this music video at all and I love it.

Actually, half this stuff is what I imagine some of Lovecraft's Elder Gods look like.

  • @darthy0da I thought of Lovecraft myself. I take the video as an old civilization or world that is annihilated by a cosmic event and forgotten. Whatever the case, this video and song are very hypnotic, the best (imo) video I've seen in a while. .

  • With Niklas artist talent, i'm surprised DT didn't do it before.

    Awesome video

  • This song has black metal elements I would not have expected that from Dark Tranquillity since they're a melodic death metal band.
