  • MULTI tack, what are you trying to say?If you can't use word do not use my time!

  • @LarryDias

word? well...open office for linux lets u open and save things to word like documents so i wudnt say it's impossible it's pretty damn good in compatibility although sometimes it isn't perfect the only thing i'd say is that WORD kills OO in spell checking... thats the only superior thing i noticed in it. Open office is better to me (i have it installed on windows) becuase it wi,ll also let u create PDFs (for free). Not bad for freeware.

  • Karmic Koala

  • Is it any god for video editing?

  • its for making beats if i'm not mistaken :/ xD

  • Cinelerra... A bit tough to unsterstand, but it works for me

  • What is the name of the song?

  • whats the difference between studio jaunty and studio hardy?

  • the jaunty is newer than hardy. (newest)

  • i see, so basically jaunty and hardy are just names for the versions, jaunty being the latest release, correct?

  • Yes, hardy is release 8.04 (April 2008) and Jaunty is release 9.04 (April 200).

  • And Karmik is the latest

  • Comment removed

  • sorry, sorry, it isnt!

  • Jaunty is more recent, The Ubuntu family are named after animals going down the alphabet, so Hardy was Hardy Heron and then there was Intrepid Ibex and the current one is Jaunty Jackalope, soon to come is K but I am not currently aware of what that is called, a quick google search should get you an answer if you want it.

  • how do u get that splash screen at the beginning? or r u running kde?

  • The music is very nice

  • u could have omitted the startup scripts and the log in screen and showed more functionality.. you only proved ur HW sucks here.. but ubuntu studio is remarkable =),,,download it as u would any other opensource software,, from the vendors or community

  • I like the desktop theme. Is that available for plain 'ol Ubuntu as well?

  • no the plain ubuntu desktop theme is and orange and kind of brown.

  • Yes its available, google it, you need to type in something like this:

'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-studio-theme' or something, I'm not sure.

  • It took a looong time to figure out how to make a boot CD *redface* but it only took me a little while to install it. I don't have this version yet though, I only had an older version of Ubuntu.

  • Search for wubi on the net!

    Wubi .. Bring linux closer.

  • just out of interest, what did you use to capture your screen?

  • doh it`s ok i just read all your comments :)

  • that was the jammin'-est bootup ever

  • just downloaded it

  • yeh im definately going to install this... ive been playin with ubuntu at my friend's house, but this version seems to offer a bit more. I just hope that the startup will be faster, as 1min45sec is a long time!

  • if i'm wrong, correct me, but ubuntu studio is just ubuntu with nice packages for artists pre-installed right?

  • Yes, basically.

  • plus, it looks cooler :D

  • The startup takes forever. But besides that it would have the potential to be a Vista killer - if it wasn't for M$'s monopoly.

  • I'm on my third week of this distro. great vid, thanks

  • Three months on & NO PROBLEMS! awesome!!

  • I didn't find out about ubuntu studio until i downloaded the home edition and went searching for a recording program..

    I'm definetly downloading this soon...

  • Recording a screen of a computer with an external camera will result shit record.

I use VirtualBox for "emulation" and recordMyDesktop. After this, I use mencoder for put good levels of quality, like resolution, compression, etc.

  • How did you record the video starting froom boot? external camera? or some programmed tweak?

  • What hardware are you running?

  • What's the song?

  • Click "Show Audio Info"

  • I don't see that link? Where is it?

  • I'll stick with plain old ubuntu, nothing speical there =(

  • It's mainly for graphics/video/production nerds. End users are better off with the pretty orange regular style.

  • It's not just for nerds some professionals us it to.

  • Goodbye Windows!!! Hello Future!
