I never watched ritual but I know it's done by Avi Nesher. Avi Nesher and Boaz Davidson are two examples of writers who got famous as Israeli writers, moved to Hollywood, and instead of doing using the upgrade to make kickass Hollywood films just did movies worse than the Israeli movies they did. (Nesher did Doppelganger and Davidson did Crocodile 1 and 2).
