I love this version, they performed it a little differently at this time, it seemed like later on (though it still rocked) they got maybe a little bored of it or took the song for granted...This version is ripe and juicy..and sounds subtly different to my ears then later live versions in my opinion..
@yootesa1515 Dave Grohl rocks...but I like the tribal-ish sound of Channing in this. Also, I think Channing's drumming made 'In Bloom' sound groovier than Grohl's version. I like both drummer's for different reasons.
at olympia studios they were recording with a green screen behind them. on that screen you can see the images kurt saw in mind of a background for a video ( read the biografy of Kurt Cobain ) xD It haves a strange kurt cobain feeling behind it, but further is looks cheap xD but cool !!
"but his first attempt at a music video didn't come until March 1990. With the help of a few college students, Nirvana sneaked on to the Evergreen State College campus for an afternoon-long video session." excerpt2"they band played for forty-five minutes in front of two cameras, while VHS footage Kurt had compiled played behind them on a chroma- key curtain.'He had taken Super8 films of folls, figures, broken toys, burning dolls and stopmotion animated stuff that he had done himself" recalled JonS
Kurt stands silently at the beginning of the video, as a messiah here to save us from the corporate controlled hell that music and pop culture was in the 80s.
Great job, and Nirvana was never as blistering and intense as they were in this performance.
This song and all of Nirvana's songs are kickass hard rock. Forget all the other labels and the endless, pointless debates. Some of their songs are more grungy, some are more punk, some are super-heavy, others are lighter and more pop-like. Who cares?
Nirvana's music is so visceral and intense. The drumming is mind-blowingly fast, heavy and creative. Kurt's voice, whether he's screaming at the top of his lungs or singing softly, sounds great. The bass and guitar are wicked. The music hits you hard, it sends a sonic punch right to your midsection that stimulates your nerve cells and sends a rush of electricity up your spine to your brain where it releases huge amounts of pleasure-enducing dopamines until you reach... NIRVANA
Well now I'm going to call you an idiot, not for your opinion, but because you clearly missed the sarcasm and patronizing demeanor in 90% of their interviews.
He actually admitted that they're going more and more New Wave as time was going by, and that typical 3-chord grunge got boring to them. And it doesn't take a genius (like yourself) to realize that Kurt took the piss out of the media bombardment they faced. I'm not stupid, asshole.
I'm an idiot for expressing my own fucking opinion?! Why'd you even bother to fucking reply to my comment, breed. Unless you're a retarded "grunge-kid" who doesn't like the idea of their "heroes' genre" being thought of otherwise. Prick.
