  • So, actually looking to Him, the author and finisher of our faith, we avoid the Mensa debate team of theologians. That is a grwat gain over the alternative.

  • The middle was basically that we avoid big, swaggering theology and cling to the Bible when our faith has been damaged by the theological traditions of men. Then, just a believer in Jesus and going by the Bible, alone sounds pretty good. Sola scriptura sounds pretty good until someone comes along and tells you that it doesn't mean going by the Bible rather than the traditions of men at all.

  • This time, the middle part didn't post and the last posted twice! When my iPod touch says "YouTube not available," it is hard to tell if it's going to show up in a few minutes or not; the middle didn't and the last did.

  • And the reason our faith was damaged usually boils down to this issue:

  • And the reason our faith was damaged usually boils down to this issue:

(KJV) Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

  • Sometimes we shy away from "big" theology because the labels and achools of thought do not match what we believe, and we tire of being misrepresented or pressured into conformity with things we vehemently disagree with just because we were proof-texted into a cirner about some aspect of a particular position. We also avoud the periks if false sets if alternatives that way.

  • im a jew

  • it's the same old rub, you say Calvinism is Biblical, another believer says Arminianism is Biblical; so what have you resolved?

  • Colossians 3:15

*Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

  • (part one) I guess i'm one of the Jesus only people. I just don't understand the benefit of embracng the Calvinistic view of predestination from what i know of it so far. It does not benefit me in sharing the love of God with those around me. If anything i would say that it seems counterproductive to sharing Christ. I will say that I am one who's salvation and rebirth was a totally passive expierience. All I did was raise my hands to God. (Perhaps that was my surrender?)

  • i am confused here.... how do i know i am one of God's elect??? Because i am not sure. And i don't know much about this calvinism....

  • For my first fifty some years I was an Arminian. I never even heard of Calvin or had a clue what grace was all about. I loosely considered myself a protestant, mainly because I believed in Christ but neither of my parents were Catholic, so I must be a Protestant. In recent years, I have studied the scriptures and the works of great men like A.W. Pink and Loraine Boettner, and discovered that the scriptures really do say that God has chosen his people. BTW, Great video!

  • That's wonderful, thank you!

  • Yeah, TicToc really rubs me the wrong way. I cannot stand to listen to the woman go on even when she is teaching something accurately. She grinds my nerves because I am not convinced she is a sister in Christ. Not at all. We really need not worry about 'division' in so many cases when the people we are dealing with are not brethren at all. That is what we need to figure out straight away. Are they really a brethren in Christ? Well, if they take any credit for their salvation they simply are NOT.

  • Sounds to me like God wants us to be of one mind but understands we cant all agree. Denomination isnt important as long as its christ centered. i agree that we need to study to show ourselves aproved unto the lord. He also said love each other. Not just God. God is love right. I agree with you. We need to read our bibles, Then put it into action.

  • Yes, brother!

And let us cling to the very words & commandment which Christ gave and you said: "love God with all your MIND"

Monica's problem *IS* with the doctrine

  • They don't understand what is not worked up by the soul in emotion and self-will. They think that anything that takes deep Bible study is mere intellectualism. They are glorying in the flesh and the dumbing down of the body of Christ. They haven't been taught sound logic or sound doctrine. There are a number of churches that just want to "experience the Spirit" - and not know doctrine. They are hopelessly confused about the subject of theology, truth, doctrine, the Bible. They can be mean.

  • True Christianity is scripture, my friend, and Calvinist theology is as close as you can get. You have to completely ignore much of scripture to make a case for any opposing theological position; especially when it comes to the doctrines of grace. Your God is too small and not the God of the Bible based on your statement above.

  • Jude 1:3 "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints." We are to contend, or to strive in debate( to use the word "contend" as an intransitive verb) within the body of Christ for the faith, but to divide, or even worse count someone as unsaved for holding an opposing opinion goes too far.

  • I have been saved since 1982, but adhered to Arminius until 2007 when, after much prayer and pleading with God to assure me of the security of my salvation, He opened my eyes to the beauty of Grace. My point is that despite what a lot of Calvinists would believe, i was no less saved all those years as an Arminian. Moving to reform from free will takes no less a work of the spirit as it does for regeneration (a bit of hyperbole). And likewise Arminians should not discount the Calvinist.

  • Thank you for this comment. I'm glad finally someone spoke up who has Arminianism in their past. This is an example of how God saves and we may not understand it, but that does not chance the saving work of the Holy Spirit in someone's life. Saving knowledge is not intellectual in substance, but does have an intellectual manifestation- theology. We not saved by knowledge, but by grace alone. Our knowledge in theology is indicative of our belief and understanding of God's inward work.

  • Very nicely done response.

The only problem I see here is that TicToc Ministries has slammed the door in our faces.

Ironic that we hold to the Truth have been blocked and I have no doubt that all of the video responses will go unwatched by TicToc.

  • Yes, I'm not sure she has even watched my responses. She has not approved any of my comments or video responses. So much for open dialogue and unity, eh?

  • She isn't talking to any Calvinists at all, from what I hear.

  • She certainly stirred up a hornet's nest, and now she refuses to take any honest rebukes.

  • There are some who have lost interest in the glory of God and are grossly apathetic about truth and sound doctrine.

It is not surprising that she refuses to take any honest rebuke - at bottom she surely knows that Scripture does not uphold anything which she espouses as truth.

Refusal to have open dialogue only proves she is not only in error, but afraid to be shown in her true light.

  • What you said about Monica is so apropos.

BTW, I like your blogsite. However, I can't read through everything right now. As soon as I get more free time, I'll read on.

Thanks for taking a stand for the Gospel.

  • Thanks for supporting my blog. I appreciate your taking the time to read it; I am hoping that more people do.

Perhaps some of those who so blindly follow TicToc might learn the truth if they read it...that we are not the despicalble heretics we are being portrayed as.

  • Correct me if I am wrong because I don't claim to be an expert but doesn't the Calvinist god create people that have no hope of anything but hell? Limited atonement? That's different than the God I know.

  • First of all, He is not the Calvinist God, but rather the God of the Bible. Second, to answer your question I'm hoping you can answer it yourself by reading and studying 2 passages of scripture (of course there are more to answer this, but this is a start): Jesus' prayer in John 17 particularly verse 2 and 9 in regards to limited atonement and Romans 9:10-16 in regards to God's sovereign election of His people. Check it out and let me know what you think.

  • Christ's atonement certainly could have secured the salvation of every man and woman that ever lived.

But this is just not Biblical. God is not indebted to man, and will display the full range of His attributes to him, which includes wrath.

It isn't something people like, nevertheless its Biblical.

  • What, says Satan, do you hold to these denominational creeds? Sensible men are getting more liberal, they are giving away what does not belong to them—Gods truth; they are removing the old landmarks. Acts of uniformity are to be repealed, articles and creeds are to be laid aside as useless lumber, not necessary for this very enlightened age; fall in with this, and be an Anythingarian - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

  • You would think that after 2000 years the Christians would have absorbed some of the lessons of classical paganism.

  • stagism! Great to hear from you! What do you mean?

  • If you remember back to pagan Rome they were quite tolerant of most religions, they even offered the Christian God a place in the pantheon of the Gods of Rome. The Christian insistance on the "one true God" and their willingness to be martyred in the name of the one true God made peaceful coexistence almost impossible.

  • Is peaceful coexistence the goal or even possible?

  • Good video.

  • Great response Brother. GBU!

  • Great response!!

  • A very God honoring response!

  • Great job, Brett. I pray the reasoned and loving responses come to outweigh the shock jock videos on this matter, that Christ would be glorified. Your message demonstrated the Spirit of Christ in understanding, patience, and self-control. Thanks, Brett!

  • I really liked this video, brother. It was a voice of reason and sanity which answered someone who does not know how to properly apply Scripture whatsoever.

  • Well, she has applied Scripture properly & profitably before, but she wasn't doing it at all this time.

So, I think it was an honest mistake & ignorance on her part and not purposeful carelessness or that she is completely unskilled.

  • She may not be "completely" unskilled as she claims Chist and therefore has the council of the Holy Spirit. However, she is very unskilled in her manner of exegesis and application of scripture to our practical understanding. She is a typical broad evangelical who thinks John Calvin is a swear word. I would question most of what she teaches- she obviously also has not had any training in biblical hermeneutics.

  • Without casting any slurs at Monica, I think it's safe to say that she unwittingly showed the whole world that she does not know how to put Scripture in proper context. It grieves me to see people rip the Word out of its correct meaning.

  • Not only does she rip it out of context, but she over-simplifies it, and by doing so preaches another gospel. I am not saying she is preaching another Jesus, although she will get there if she is not careful, but she has gathered around herself a rather large following and she is going to lead them into the pit. Essentially, what she is doing is preaching "the gospel of paul", and that in a rather limited sense too. I hope you understand what I am saying here.

  • Awesome response! God bless you!

  • Good video response Brett. Is that by chance you playing the guitar at the beginning of this video?

I watched the video of Monica last night and was amazed at her contradictory attitude. She was arguing that arguing is not supposed to happen between Christians. Eh?

I think you're right in the fact that what she's really trying to get at is the actual doctrines that Calvin taught through his study of the scriptures. Maybe she'll make a video actually discussing that in the future.

  • I wish that was me playing guitar in that clip. It was Steffen Schackinger who is with CandyRat records. I subscribe to their channel and have gotten into a few of their artists. They're all guitar players- it's a great channel. Check it out- rpoland

  • Excellent response!

  • Very mature and biblical balanced response.
