Hello, what all alterations would be needed to convert a 30-06 caliber 1919a4 to 8mm?

Very nice. My question..I am doing the conversion. How do you remove the booster. By hand or do I need a tool? I have a 2 piece booster. My is also an Allied armament 1919.

Simply replace your two-piece booster with a one-piece 30-06 booster. Don't forget to get a new lockring. The easiest way to get the booster loose is to use a booster wrench, but a strap wrench will work just as well. You can get one at your local hardware store. Once the booster is loose, you can remove it by hand.

Makes perfect sense with these people going out and hording ammunition. The surplus Romanian stuff you can get is almost as cheap as reloading, even if corrosive. But then again, its supposed to be a support weapon, not a tack driver.

Absolutely. The Romanian stuff is fantastic in the 1919, love it. Sometimes Yugo stuff has recessed primers, but I've had good luck with it as well. Thanks for the kind words on the video!

Why would you convert a weapon to fre a rarer cartridge

The cost of 7.62x51 NATO-spec ammo is nearly double that of 8mm mil surplus. Why spend $500 for 1000 rounds of .308 when you can get 1000 rounds of 8mm for less than $250? Also, 8mm can hardly be considered rare--there are literally millions of surplus rounds to be had . . .
