  • Cook that with a Fillet Mignon (pronounced your way) and have surf-n-turf night...

  • even if he doesn't know how to pronounce it, hes pretty damn good at filleting fish

  • ahh i love the skin of fish

  • The comment thread is more amusing than the vid! Looks yummy!

  • i like your accent :)

  • lol he pronounces the T in filleting

  • cheers brutha, just speared a massive blue moki and ive never filleted a fish before. everything ive got till now has just been wrapped in foil and chucked on the bbq but this ones wayyy too big.

chur thx for ur mean vid

  • i wonder how much it costs to live on the beach there

  • LMAO...GREAT VID MATE...BUT WHATS WITH THE VEIWERS COMMENTS??HAHAHA ITS A FEED OF FISH FILLETS...or A fillet (or filet) – pronounced /ˈfɪlɪt/ in British English and /fɨˈleɪ/ in American English; from the French word filet, pronounced /filɛ/ – is a cut or slice of boneless meat or fish. hope that helps...hahaha or just get your life in order....

  • it's pronounced fil-ay - not fil-et

  • @Pokerislife7 He lives in New Zealand, where it's pronounced fill-et

  • i fillet different and say it different, but nonetheless very informative, thank you!

p.s. I HAVE THE SAME TABLE! lol ok, that was the whole point of my comment...

  • the dance at the end made it all worth while.

  • oh i get it a little better now... i had thebasic idea but just not quite, i think with a little practice i can fillet a fish=D

  • By far the easiest way, the same way I was taught. All the other methods seem to just be extra work.

  • y is he doing it outside? y not inside? other then that good job

  • I like this as it shows you don't have to buy your meat in the grocery store.Excellent footage of getting game ready for the table.

  • thanks dude, we "fil-A" around here (US), but since you made a quick and easy to understand instructional video i think i might start "fi-letting" instead

  • Thanks for the demo!

  • Oo...don't drop that fish!!!

I would shit my self if I was driving that car at 0:17, minding my business and all of a sudden a fish splatter on the windshield...

    Great Video Bro!!!

    Cheers from Canada!!!

  • Woot! Go Canada!!!

that's the exact same way I fillet pickerel/walleye up here :)

  • yo what is the song playing??

  • anyone on youtube that can fillet a fish i say well done ,but everyone else who filays a fish ? go back to school and learn some english as in england, where the launguage comes from

  • i have a question.

why for some fish you could slightly make cuts in the heads and pull them off(with the insides still connected) then remove the insides.

while others you have to cut through the gills first and then make cuts in the belly and remove the insides.

  • Nice job, what type of fish was it ? Looked like a tuna!

  • when you say fillet you do not pronounce it the way it sounds it is pronounced like this fa-lay or fa-lay-ing

  • @jonnyboy232 its fillet tosser we have enough of youre american shit floating around in this world, keep youre fucked up idea of english to yourselves and let the people who created the language decide how its pronounced prick

  • its prononced fa-lay not fill-it

  • it's spelled: 'it's' and 'pronounced'... :-)

Anyway, how do you prononunce 'filleting' (or filletting)?

English is not my native tongue.

    cheers!

  • Hey jonnyboy232 he is pronouncing fillet correctly unless you know something more then Robuchon,Childe, Keller and Ramsay and if U do please share with the class.

  • Just filleted a fish for the first time in my life. Video works like a charm. Thanks.

  • blue moki ^^

  • how he says 'fillet' is really annoying

  • Nice job Vic. Thanks

  • I love to eat fish, but paying someone else to filet my fish makes me feel incompetent and besides it's less expensive to do it yourself. This video has inspired me to try this. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a couple of whole fish and show 'em who's boss. Thank you!

  • what is this song? please?

  • good info, but camera dude sucks.

  • In most parts of the English speaking world it is pronounced "fill-it". I've lived in 3 English speaking countries and that's how it was pronounced in all 3.

  • its pronounced fill-ay not fill-it but very good job tho!

  • fil-ay not fill-it,...lol

  • both are right.

  • fillettttting

  • great tips.......thanx....and keep the music...it adds to the...ummmm..ambience.....

  • Awful audio, but great concise demo! Thank you! Take that annoying music out.

  • That looks a hell of a lot easier than I would think it really is.

  • The first time i did it, it was terrible, but after a while its pretty easy.

  • i keep my knife razor sharp and cut through the ribs.. then i remove them before i remove the skin. its a lot faster when you have a stack of fish fillet. i touch my knife up will a steel rod every few fish to keep it sharp and i rarely have to take out the sharpening stones

  • Thanks for the info.. Very nice video

  • excellent video. I kept the skin on when I grilled, but cutting the fillet without cutting off the head or de-gutting (sp?) is awesome!

  • i don't know if the repeated mispronunciation was intentional or what. If not...the word is french and is pronounced like filay fyi

  • It's not mispronunciation...Check a dictionary, there are two ways to pronounce it, most people in my country will say "Fill-et"

Like a "fill-et" of steak etc.

The word is English.....it is DERIVED from the French which in turn was derived from Latin.

  • @kegs666 cool story bro, their are different ways of pronunciation mate

  • Thats my point....cool story bro.

  • The phonetic pronunciation originates from the rivalry between England and France.

  • I like your T-shirt :-)

  • mmmm sushi

  • excellent job Mr. Huang

  • If you DO NOT cut thru the tail, you just flip your fillet and continue cutting to take the skin off.

  • thanks for the video

  • you get used to it

  • Even though I find this method waaaay too difficult for me, I enjoyed the music and totally loved the final coreography, I watched it maybe 10-12 times on loop

    :P

  • Thanks for sharing, although, there is a much easier way to fillet if you take the head off first then put just slice it through the middle, from the bottom and top of the rib cage. A good video nonetheless.

  • he is saying fillet as a joke, i think a guy that knows how to fillet a fish perfectly on the food channel knows how to pronounce it lol. Plus, you can tell he's a jokester by saying "after you spear your fish out of the sea" at the beginning and at the end he does that little funny dance thing. HE IS JOKING when he says fillet. : )

  • You would think so wouldn't you? I've heard so many sorry mispronunciations on the food network it isn't even funny. On Chopped for example they couldn't figure out how to pronounce Yucca. Alexandra Guarnaschelli started it out by pronouncing it Yooka and everyone followed the same bad example. It was pathetic. Season 1 Epidode 5

  • Why'd you delete your smart-ass comment? Did you realize that you are actually wrong?

  • apparently you don't know what ALSO means, lol....failtard.

  • thanks man!

  • i think it`s pronounced as filhey (fillet). nice video though, very eductional. good ay everybody. thanx for the video ;)

  • Muckdiver is right. It's "Fill-hey" not fillet.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • filay....

    pronounced

  • The idea with the newspaper is brilliant.

There is no contact between the flesh and the paper.

Therefore, there is no carbon, but extra safety.

Stupid fish intend to sleep alot.

    Good job man.

  • nice fillet full of carbon from that newspaper ;)

  • i needed to know that thanks

  • Have you ever gone fishing in Cambodia ? there'

s a saying in Cambodi, where ever there is water, there is fish, ummm ummmm i love to eat fish !! it is so healthy for you,i rather eat fish then beef or chicken because i alway feel that anything from the sea is alway cleaner then anything living on land ;)

  • Do you know how to cook too dude ? real men know how to do everything man hahaaah, you can scale but can you cook ?

  • Your HOT, are you single????

  • He didn't do too bad of a job. By the way, "Fillet" is pronounced Fill-ay... not Fill-et.

  • if you've ever been to new zealand, they pronounce it fill-et here. i've been here for about 2 years now and am starting to talk like the kiwi's. potAY-toe, potAH-toe, whats the difference ?

  • Point taken. When in Rome do as the Romans. Only in this case New Zealand.
