I have one of these as well, mine's a '90. It has the VFR front wheel, kerker pipe, overbore 1mm, high lift cam, jetted, Fox racing shock, and a steering stabilizer. I hope to put a VFR rear wheel on it as well. What did you have to do to the spindle to make it work?
nice looking hawk gt you have there. i just rebuilt one of these with a big bore kit and its now my first bike. i love it. ive had it at the track a couple of times and it still holds it own. i loooove the sound of that v twin
@vsm4me Thanks! They are certainly great bikes! It was up at deals gap with it last weekend, and it held its own nicely! :) People are always amazed when you tell them its a 22 year old motorcycle!
@calineophyte Thank you! I get compliments on this bike everywhere I go. That aluminum frame stands out even today, and most people think its 10 years newer than it actually is! Thats a Targa fairing, which is kind of a period aftermarket item. They're actually fairly common, or at least they were back in the day!
@Mtrhd0024 There is a guy, Danny Coe, who rides the same mountains as I do. He tests bikes for Motorcycle Consumer News that has a couple of these GTs and he loves them and is very fast on them too. It was on my short list when I was in the market for a V twin sporty bike but I ended up with a Duc. Enjoy and ride safe.
@calineophyte Oh okay cool! Where are you from? I'm from NC, so you'll see me in the mountains of NC and VA most weekends... We used to have another GT but dad sold it to his brother... He's still got it, and if he doesn't do anything with it, I'll be buying it back from him. What kind of Ducati did you buy? I'd love a go on a Hypermotard. hehehe!
@Mtrhd0024 I am from Toronto in Canada but I am presently living and riding near Los Angeles. I ended up with a 1998 Ducati 900FE. I like the simplicity of a 2 valve Desmo. You can see the FE in some of my videos. Those Hypermotards are sick. I've got to rent one one day. It's a little too focused for me to consider buying one.
@2007tacoma Thanks man! I love the Hawk too! Thats a great deal for a Hawk, don't ever get rid of it or you'll regret it! Especially for $200! You can't go wrong at that price! Nothing else I've ridden comes close to having the same amount of character and smile-factor as this motorcycle! My DRz is also fun, possibly more fun in the corners than this (not by much!) but the motor on this bike will make you smile from ear to ear each time you twist that throttle back!!
@Mtrhd0024 ive been riding an 05 honda 919 for 3 years now, so as soon as i get done rebuilding the carbs (just waiting on the rebuild kit to ship to me) ill be riding my hawk... i know it def wont hav anything near the power of the 919 im used to, but i think ill love my hawk, well lol i already do. tinkering with vehicles is a blast. gonna be getting the two brothers shorty exhaust for it soon, i just personally love the look of the shorty exhaust.
@hockEplaya30 Thank you! It is a great bike, one of the few that its unlikely I will ever sell! It does indeed handle wonderfully, and that V-twin growl just makes you smile every time you give that throttle a little twist! haha
@VvLOGiKvV Thanks! I can assure you its not though, it has nearly 15k miles on it! We just take extremely good care of it haha! We may be getting another (very VERY tricked out!) Hawk GT in the near future, so stay tuned for a new video! :)
@TheReapersSon Thanks man! It really does sound awesome... Every time you ride this thing, you can't help but have a big goofy grin on your face because of all the noise! Children cover their ears, old people wrinkle their brow in disgust, and everybody else gives you a thumbs up! :) haha!
Great video! I own one of these myself, though the smaller 400 version (not sure if you get those over in the states!). That sound is incredible, do you know if those are stock headers?
Thanks for taking your time to put together such a high quality video!
@andreas542 Thanks man! I used to live in the UK, so I'm familiar with the Bros 400, etc! I don't believe we get them here, but I do remember seeing them - they sound pretty much the same as the 750's! :) They are indeed stock headers - Honda engineered them right, at least on the 750, and there's not much power to be gained from aftermarket ones! So this only has a slipon! :)
Is this a 400 or 600?

@TheLucas2696 Also, if you guys would happen to know where I could get an aftermarket, hopefully higher capacity tank, I'd appreciate it!

Wow. That is a beautiful example of a cult favorite. I have never seen that type of fairing on a GT but it looks great.

That's a beautiful hawk. Very good condition; a great bike to take on those twisty roads and response very well.

That V-Twin sound.... legendary. That sounds as good as any Termi setup, tbh.
I wish I could find one of these bikes for sale!
