  • if you do not use nitro resistant gloves the poison will go through your gloves.

  • Hi Phil, thanks i'm glad that you like the board, it's an unusual design but rides well, it's for small waves mainly. The wood is paulownioa which is an excellent surfboard wood, Cedar is also good and is a similar weight to paulownia. We have used pine as well, it's heavier of course but makes a good board.

  • That is a really nice board.,, im planning on making my first board - funboard 7' 1" for my final project at school. I would just like to know, what wood did you use? is that cedar or pine or something else?

    Thank you

    Phil

  • Hi goldenpizza, there's no glass or cloth. There will be an initial double coat ( brush on and the do it again more or less straight away, this makes the initial coat thick enough to sand without hitting the wood) followed by two more single coats, sanded with60 grit in between coats before the resin has fully cured. The rail coats lap each other making 6 coats on the rails ( needed because the resin runs off the rails more so doesn't build up as fast.

  • 26 pounds, wow. glass would just add weight.

What type of resin are you using? Polyester or epoxy?

  • hi, 26 pounds is as light as we want to go with a board of that size, any lighter would spoil the boards handling and reduce drive, some of our bigger boards are up to 70 pounds. Heavier boards are faster and have a lower centre of gravity. The whole board is done with the same 4:1 epoxy no solvents or additives.

  • how many resin coats will this board get?

    is there any 'glass?

  • Replied in comment mode above :)
