"if everybody would be metal... anybody who would want to be Different (something more - just like us, metal heads these days) would turn away from metal"
Wanting to be different is as bad as wanting to be the same. As I always say, "black sheep are still just sheep".
You're still defining yourself in relation to the 'mainstream'.
If everybody was thinking for themselves and listening to music that encourages that, how could that be a bad thing?
I don't think it would be good for metal to be the most listened kind of music. For one big reason... if everybody would be metal... anybody who would want to be Different (something more - just like us, metal heads these days) would turn away from metal. We should be proud that WE are the DIFFERENT guys and that WE can FEEL the difference between what's good and what's wrong and WE CAN AND WE ENJOY LISTENING TO STUFF OTHERS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO!!!
I think next they should do something on metal that hails from different countries. You got Britain in the late 70s/early 80s, America in the 90s, all the Nordic countries, lots of power metal from Brazil...
this documentry sucked. we already knew everything about the music. he didnt came up with anything new. prety much a peice of crap. he could instead focus on the metal scene after 1986 and to like 2000
@aggbala : What? The documentary was brilliant for those who had barely encountered metal before, and an excellent mental fortification for those who already had!
Lemmy is the man! Despite the fact that he is one of the ugliest mother fuckers in music there is a certain undeniable charismatic angle to his personality. I never get sick of listening to his stories about sex, drugs and rock .n.roll.I wish I had him for a grandfather!!!
I really like this documentary. I'm more into hardcore techno and gabber myself, but the similarities are striking! There are controversies surrounding religion, black t-shirts, death and violence in artwork and a masculine scene. And of course it's also loud, heavy, fast music.
this flick mentioned all styles of metal on a chart, but forgot to mention Sadistik Exekution ..(genre of its own).the most over the top/extreme metal band ever! hail dave Slave
but they look nothing like pantera! Vinnie has a beard and big dark hair, not short blond.. and he doesn't have an english accent! he also speaks nothing like that!

@mattprit Hey, really now. I fuckin` like both. Why is everybody in that shit : Rap vs. Metal ??? As i saw, Metal and rap subcultures(at least in my country) have common points regarding social facts. Rap isn't just about ghetto nigga` shit u know. And if i listen to both i don't have to pretend my self being a metalhead or a hiphoper...wtf man ?
@mihaix86 wow. i didn't know that was a highest rated comment. haha. bro chill. that was 2 years ago. i still love metal and hate rap (other than like 3 biggie smalls, 2 tupac songs, and one dmx song). fucking up the irons man. where i'm from rap is about lets do crack and buy some prostitutes.
@mattprit your right man! pop and rap are just a fase and will pass like everything before it. But metal is something more, its a brotherhood. and lile they say family is forever! \m/
Apparently they have those de-metalizing classes in the larger cities of Wisconsin and I have relatives in rural Wisconsin, and they're some of the most metal people I know.
Something really hit me earlier today, showing how nobody who listens to metal doesnt even know about it. I watched my DVD of this again, then went outside, turned on the stereo, and listened to Holy Wars - Megadeth. then some random dude walks by, shakes his head, and says to me " How can you like that shit? All they do is just play guitar."
Isnt that what fuckin makes it different from rap or techno shit? DUH
I loved this documentary I really did and i can't find this in stores but it was on vh1 classic one time and I recorded it. it was on their for six months till my mom erased it the bitch.
This is a very interesting documentary on heavy metal. As a fellow metalhead of 14 years, I found it to be intriguing, endearing, and at times I was throwing my horns at the tv exclaiming "fuck yeah!". Any fan of heavy metal should check this out. I gained some insite into the culture of heavy metal and even learned a little bit about myself watching it. This is the project of an long time headbanger so it's to be taken as a serious project. Hail metal!

No, I believe Alice is correct. I think you're missing what he's saying. Rolling Stone magazine did an article on the Alice Cooper group and called them "Heavy Metal" back in 1972 before anyone else had referred to any thing as that in the media. I think that's what Alice is saying.

the documentary is awsome...Its a piece of art as far as Im concerned. i especially Loved listening to Alice Cooper...hes the King of Metal in my eyes and hes also a very dedicated Christian which is a refreshing change from all the "Satin" crap.
WHERE IS FOLK/VIKING METAL IN THIS? ENSIFERUM, FALKENBACH, MOONSORROW OR EVEN FINNTROLL? and what the fuck, one of the soundtracks for this is Slipknot - (SIC) and they interviewed some of Slipknot's members, and for Power metal, where the fuck is Hansi kursch? where's Kai hansen and all for the interviews, if they added in all that, this documentary would be fucking awesome.

Power metal, progressive metal, heavy metal, death metal, goth metal, and thrash metal it is all metal man. I personally pefer power prog and some melodic death but it is all good. except hair metal fuck that
death metal doesn't really suck. gotta say though that it's a hell of an aquired taste. bear in mind that that's pretty much as extreme as you can get. nice that you went from one extreme (death metal) to another extreme (emo) lol. kindof an unfair comparison don't you think lol

Death Metal sucks? Fuck You! Go listen to your EMO music!

death metal doesn't really suck. gotta say though that it's a hell of an aquired taste. bear in mind that that's pretty much as extreme as you can get. nice that you went from one extreme (death metal) to another extreme (emo) lol. kindof an unfair comparison don't you think lol
