  • all is great about this film except dimebag had gone now :'(((((

dimebag i hope your awesome soul would come back and possess some nobody-guitarist and form up an asskicking band once again and rock the fuck outta the world

    anyone agrees shall thumb this

  • great dvd !!!!!!

  • well kids had been growing their hair long and playing air guitar since the 1960s.

    just sain

  • "if everybody would be metal... anybody who would want to be Different (something more - just like us, metal heads these days) would turn away from metal"

Wanting to be different is as bad as wanting to be the same. As I always say, "black sheep are still just sheep".

You're still defining yourself in relation to the 'mainstream'.

If everybody was thinking for themselves and listening to music that encourages that, how could that be a bad thing?

  • I'd of given a left nut to be a teenager in the 80's.

  • BEST MOVIE EVER

  • I don't think it would be good for metal to be the most listened kind of music. For one big reason... if everybody would be metal... anybody who would want to be Different (something more - just like us, metal heads these days) would turn away from metal. We should be proud that WE are the DIFFERENT guys and that WE can FEEL the difference between what's good and what's wrong and WE CAN AND WE ENJOY LISTENING TO STUFF OTHERS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO!!!

  • Sam Dunn did an exelent work.

  • He talks about 1986 then suddenly Shawn Crahan shows up at 1:04 for a half second or so, WTF?!

  • 0:43 female or male ? o.O

  • The Zebra kid at the beginning is a douchebag

  • what does lemmy say? i don't understand him :D

  • @MisterMetalFreak Basically about metal makes your parents pissed off and other geniously picked words, for it is Lemmy.

  • You can't kill the metal! The metal will live on! \m/

  • I think next they should do something on metal that hails from different countries. You got Britain in the late 70s/early 80s, America in the 90s, all the Nordic countries, lots of power metal from Brazil...

  • DIMEBAG..!!! =]

  • "it's the urge to piss your parrents off and get laid."

lemmy just made a compilation of the whole documentary in 1 line.

  • best documentry ever

  • its in my d n a ......

  • Dio :"(...

  • once you started listening to metal, your a metalhead for life!

  • @Kraden85

    True!

  • this documentry sucked. we already knew everything about the music. he didnt came up with anything new. prety much a peice of crap. he could instead focus on the metal scene after 1986 and to like 2000

  • @aggbala : What? The documentary was brilliant for those who had barely encountered metal before, and an excellent mental fortification for those who already had!

  • Lemmy is the man! Despite the fact that he is one of the ugliest mother fuckers in music there is a certain undeniable charismatic angle to his personality. I never get sick of listening to his stories about sex, drugs and rock .n.roll.I wish I had him for a grandfather!!!

  • That was me, tight jeans, sleeveless rock t, mullet, and thought the universe revolved around metal and hard rock.

  • What is the title of the song at 1:18-1:42?

  • Lemmy, the only man that is able to support a claim such as "Metal is the only logical sucessor to Rock n' Roll" :D

And Pantera was full of win too :D

  • what's the name of the song at the end of the video?

  • @3dHunt3r Balls To The Wall by. Accept

  • @TallTomG18 10x man. i owe you one

  • Yeah!

  • one of my favourite movies of all time! =)

  • FUCK RAP!!! this documentary is awesome....just like chuck norris >:D

  • I really like this documentary. I'm more into hardcore techno and gabber myself, but the similarities are striking! There are controversies surrounding religion, black t-shirts, death and violence in artwork and a masculine scene. And of course it's also loud, heavy, fast music.

  • my favorite movie

  • this flick mentioned all styles of metal on a chart, but forgot to mention Sadistik Exekution ..(genre of its own).the most over the top/extreme metal band ever! hail dave Slave

  • 0:59, lol

  • AweZome0

  • best fuckin movie!

  • 0:32 fuck yeah! i agree with that dude 100%

  • 2:57 R.I.P.

  • whose the guy speaking in the beginning?

  • He's Vinnie the drummer of Pantera.

  • but they look nothing like pantera! Vinnie has a beard and big dark hair, not short blond.. and he doesn't have an english accent! he also speaks nothing like that!

  • Maybe i'm looking at the wrong guy

  • i think just a random dude

  • thanks, axxo798!

cuz i was like... should i know him??

  • this guy i want to meet him if it is alive!!!!!!!!!!

  • holy shit dimebag O.o

  • I LOVE METAL, no one can take that away

  • i got this today xD

  • What the song is in the start?

  • six six sis the number of the beast!!! (8) is the number of the beast from iron maiden!!

  • Thanks)

  • i own the first half of this movie XD

  • Comment removed

  • 1:18

i saw him at wacken 2009. even got a picture.

    he is epic

  • I did love the documentary about metal and i did also i love global metal... u must get these two dvd guys awesome

FYI its one of the most awesome songs ever!!!!!

  • *sings out loud* I FUCKING LOOOOOOOOOVE MEEETAAALLLL IT IS THE GREATEST FORM OF MUSIC EVER INVENTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK ANYONE ELSE WHO THINKS DIFFERENTLY!

  • dude one of the best metal vids ive eber seen

    METAL!

  • was it just me or did number of the beast sound a little sped up at the begining?

  • metal will rise again. we shall thrash the rap and blacken the pop for metal is eternal.

  • thrash the rap????? we should fuckin BURN IT TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!! haha, awesome documentary :)

  • @6chimaira6 rap in hell? rap dosent deserve hell. bwahaha

  • @6chimaira6 Music is like candy. If you want to enjoy it properly, you first gotta throw away the (w)rappers!

  • @mattprit Hey, really now. I fuckin` like both. Why is everybody in that shit : Rap vs. Metal ??? As i saw, Metal and rap subcultures(at least in my country) have common points regarding social facts. Rap isn't just about ghetto nigga` shit u know. And if i listen to both i don't have to pretend my self being a metalhead or a hiphoper...wtf man ?

  • @mihaix86 wow. i didn't know that was a highest rated comment. haha. bro chill. that was 2 years ago. i still love metal and hate rap (other than like 3 biggie smalls, 2 tupac songs, and one dmx song). fucking up the irons man. where i'm from rap is about lets do crack and buy some prostitutes.

  • @mattprit

shall rise again? It hasn't slowed down

  • @mattprit your right man! pop and rap are just a fase and will pass like everything before it. But metal is something more, its a brotherhood. and lile they say family is forever! \m/

  • Apparently they have those de-metalizing classes in the larger cities of Wisconsin and I have relatives in rural Wisconsin, and they're some of the most metal people I know.

  • De-metalizing classes? Uhhm, think I'd WAY rather take metal shop, lol.

  • fucking great

  • umm, is it just me or were some of these clips not in the movie?

  • Haha, 01:45

    Rob Zombie is a genius

  • Haha poor tony :D

    "The church is on fire!"

    "Nothing to do with us"

  • oh forget it... I know it now :P

  • what was the song in the end?

  • Balls To The Wall-Accept

  • Something really hit me earlier today, showing how nobody who listens to metal doesnt even know about it. I watched my DVD of this again, then went outside, turned on the stereo, and listened to Holy Wars - Megadeth. then some random dude walks by, shakes his head, and says to me " How can you like that shit? All they do is just play guitar."

Isnt that what fuckin makes it different from rap or techno shit? DUH

  • I loved this documentary I really did and i can't find this in stores but it was on vh1 classic one time and I recorded it. it was on their for six months till my mom erased it the bitch.

  • METAL 4ever...cant wait for Global Metal

  • 2:43 the fucking gods of american heavy metal

  • METAL HEADS UNITE!

thats my myspace name lol :]

  • KEEP IT METAL!!! \m/

  • METAL 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's a good documentary, if you haven't then by all means watch it

  • oh fuck! HELL YEAH!!

  • This is a very interesting documentary on heavy metal. As a fellow metalhead of 14 years, I found it to be intriguing, endearing, and at times I was throwing my horns at the tv exclaiming "fuck yeah!". Any fan of heavy metal should check this out. I gained some insite into the culture of heavy metal and even learned a little bit about myself watching it. This is the project of an long time headbanger so it's to be taken as a serious project. Hail metal!

  • I love this documentary

  • Long Live Metal!

  • hail metal

  • Whats Lemmy talking about about de-metalizing classes in Wisconsin? I'm from Wisconsin...donno what he's talkin about. Dont really give a shit.

  • lmao @ the kid with the zebra spandex bodysuit that knocked himself in the teeth with the mic

  • RIP DIMEBAG -sniff-

  • RIP Darrell Abbott

  • What alice cooper is saying is just a complete lie.

  • i love that dvd. i bought it like 2 weeks a go

  • What the fuck's with "Metal: A Heabangers Journey"? There's a spelling screwup in the DVD promo at the end.

  • omg i love you dime! RIP <3 =] *horns*

  • METAL FOREVER!

    rock on.

  • Gene Simmons would tell you he invented the devil horns. But as we all know, Gene also invented breathing and shoes. LOL Dio fuckin rules!

  • Tom Araya saying "I'm catholic" ??

    huahuahuahuauahuuhauhahuahuhuhuahu

    fuck you cristianism in metal.

    sex, drinks, and metal forever!

  • all hail slayer

  • no i think hes just saying "catholic" ,that makes more sense because at this point they talked about religion and metal

  • He is Catholic. In fact, he not even the only catholic one in the band.

  • the hole movie was fucking awesome

  • "metal rules, all the punk shit sucks, it doesnt belong on this world... IT BELONGS ON FUCKING MARS! Madona can go to hell for all as im concerned shes a dick"... that dudes my idol

  • METAL FOREVER (l)

  • The best part was Tom Araya saying "I'm catholic"

    AHUAHUAHAUAH

  • No body care about stage shows and pyro??? WTF. its part of metal ffs

  • alice cooper is bullshit"the first time heavy metal was used was to refer to alice cooper" bull it was sabath!!!

  • Actually the first time it was used was by Steppenwolf in the song Born To Be Wild

  • he says

    "i like smoke and lightning

     Heavy Metal Thunder!"

  • No, I believe Alice is correct. I think you're missing what he's saying. Rolling Stone magazine did an article on the Alice Cooper group and called them "Heavy Metal" back in 1972 before anyone else had referred to any thing as that in the media. I think that's what Alice is saying.

  • Dude just one thing METAL RULES [2]

  • Awesome! One of the best documentaries of all time.

  • i watched this on vh1 one night...lol

  • Dude just one thing METAL RULES

  • yes it does but i can do without the satanic stuff i think alice cooper was right in saying what he did

  • SÜPERRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • I gotta buy this shit! :|

  • shut the fuck up, without punk there would be no thrash metal, thus without thrash metal there would be no extreme forms of metal

  • hey guesswho...dont get your BM unddies all in a fuckin bunch, Im just givin my opinion and by the way....Punk SUCKS and BM has nothing to do with what punk stood for which was rebelion for youth. Bm is all about being able top stand alone and be a complete individual.

  • the documentary is awsome...Its a piece of art as far as Im concerned. i especially Loved listening to Alice Cooper...hes the King of Metal in my eyes and hes also a very dedicated Christian which is a refreshing change from all the "Satin" crap.

  • punk = talentless

  • The sound is UGLY! Everyone's voices sound like they took a dose of helium.

  • no punk sucks, it made the very thing that WOULD DESTROY IT! METAL WOOHOO METAL=OWNS

  • lol EXACTLY

  • WHERE IS FOLK/VIKING METAL IN THIS? ENSIFERUM, FALKENBACH, MOONSORROW OR EVEN FINNTROLL? and what the fuck, one of the soundtracks for this is Slipknot - (SIC) and they interviewed some of Slipknot's members, and for Power metal, where the fuck is Hansi kursch? where's Kai hansen and all for the interviews, if they added in all that, this documentary would be fucking awesome.

  • ok then it's possible if i am correct he was killed in 2005.

  • Dimebag died on December 8, 2004. in the bonus footage of this movie there's a tribute to him!!! this is the best fucking documentary ever!!!

  • That kids hair is so fucking lame. I'd kick his ass.

  • at 1;33 'if it wasnt for christianity we wouldnt have metal as we know it'? what a load of shit!!! it might be just me but i think of metal as music, i dont think of jesus or fucking pointless satanic themes while listening to metal, its all about the music.

  • dude, think... Would we really have Metal like we know it if there was no christianity?

  • i would say so, maybe it would be somewhat different... but instrumentally i would say it wouldve been the same anyways (my opinion)

  • Metal owns punk rock punk rock sucks metal is way better

  • That little pussy saying punk sucks is a loser. Punk influenced metal down to the very last riff. Without punk, there would be no thrash, grind, death, speed or anything...

  • im going to have to agree with you actually. metallica said themselves that the tempos from there music was influenced from hardcore punk. but punk today sucks pretty damn bad

  • sorry but hes right.. punk fucking sucks

  • I would fuckin' kill that little cunt for dissing punk! Metal and Punk both fucking rule. And they're both pretty close, too. You usually won't find a punk anywhere who says they don't like metal. Both metal and punk are about doing whatever the fuck you want, when you want, and how the fuck you want.

  • huh, was that dimebag darrel ?? when was this movie filmed ??

  • it was released 2006. ok go figure. 1 year of editing and releasing to other countries and all that bullshit after filming.... so, id say, through all the coolshit in the movie, it was filmed somewer between 2002-2004, amybe early 2005

  • this documentary is absolute brillance...

  • lol motorhead is very right :P

  • what song is it when the death metal and black metal part of the movie starts? its a bunch of chanting

  • I think its something about enslaved

  • heah i wanted to know too...they dont have it on the soundtrack

  • metal is the best but punk is pretty good too espircailly the sex pistols up the irons

  • The song on 1:01 is "Am i Evil" by Diamond Head

  • Does somebody know the name of the song/music that begins at 1:01?

  • that faggot in the zebra costume is ranting about how hardcore they are and then hits the mic off his tooth and completely breaks character and makes himself look like a tool. this is a wicked movie though.really well done documentary.rob zombie is the man.

  • Hey anyone!!! I'm looking for the Dimebag interview where he says metal is a part of you, in your veins, lives forever like steel...something like that!

  • Who's that faggot in the zebra costume talking about how Punk sucks?!

  • punk fucking sucks ass!!!!

  • I take it you're a Dokken fan, eh?

  • hell yeah! dude im just saying that punk killed music as we know it.said my halford himself, you haven't got any talent at all and u can still play punk rock music.

  • Oh man, Halford tried to do that whole reved-up "Brute" Metal thing with Fight, then followed it up with that George Michael number ov his.

Look, i never understood this whole "Punk vs. Metal" thing. Some ov the first Thrash bands like Bathory, Slayer, & VENOM were [basically] Punk.

Now Orthodox/UG/OTT/DIY BM is the "new" Punk.

  • Death metal up your ass! emo/goth shouldnt even be mentioned. Death metal is not goth, death metal has nothing to do with satanism, death metal just kicks sum brutal ass! \m/

  • this fucking documentary doens't even mention DOOM METAL... that's pretty lamme

  • Power metal, progressive metal, heavy metal, death metal, goth metal, and thrash metal it is all metal man. I personally pefer power prog and some melodic death but it is all good. except hair metal fuck that

  • well desth metal is goth music whats the difference

  • Death Metal = Deicide, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse

Goth Music = The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Alien Sex Fiend

Quite a difference between the genres idiot

  • your right there is a difference...one is gay and the other is gayer thanks for clearing my mind

  • Wow playground comebacks, Well done. How old are you son?

  • 100 years...hmm sounds like a screenname to me

  • Of course its a screen name otherwise it wouldnt be up there

  • well how can i trust that you are 100 years old....what if you're only a pathetic 99 year old pretending to be 100... hmm, answer that

  • Its a song, I don't go around thinkig you are 123 and have no name do I?

  • hahaha true

  • Death Metal sucks? Fuck You! Go listen to your EMO music!

  • death metal doesn't really suck. gotta say though that it's a hell of an aquired taste. bear in mind that that's pretty much as extreme as you can get. nice that you went from one extreme (death metal) to another extreme (emo) lol. kindof an unfair comparison don't you think lol
