@Terrabelle2,I would recommend this it's a really good and reliable hand gun and as a back up,you say your Primary is a 38, well did you know that COBRA ARMS also has 9mm,38cal.,357cal,44,45,45/410 and a 45/70 caliber derringers as well and there is rumor going around they are making a 50 cal. Yea that one will make your hand hurt. YES I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM AS A BACK UP OR EVEN AS A CAMPING GUN

at 5 yards, the bullet will enter, BUT, the thing with .22's is, once they go in, they usually dont come out, unless shot at point blank range. Sounds like you dont want it? think of this, yes it doesnt come out, BUT, it DOES bounce around inside of the target " body" until it decides to stop. i had a friend of mine committ suicide with a .22 at point blank, the Dr. told us it sliced his brain like a loaf of bread. My G-pa dropped his in a huntin accident, it went in AND out. he died instantly.
.22LR HPs or JHPs do not penetrate nearly enough to cause the internal injury required to cause death/incapacitation. Stick with FMJs with small calibers such as .22LR, .25 ACP, .32 ACP. Then again personally I do not ever suggest you use such small calibers for life and death situations, stick with 9mm JHP, .45 ACP JHP, .357 Magnum, .380, and .38 Special.
the ammo is only expanding because its a 22 short cartridge case with a 60 grain bullet on it. the shorts are hard to get out of a manually ejected ones
It is not actually as quiet as advertised. Infact in tests done (available to view on youtube) is eas just as loud as regular .22 lr. Also, that heavy 60 grain bullet will drop dramatically compared to say a 32 grain. Also a solid bullet will not damage as much as a hollow point. Best choice for ammo is CCI Stinger hollow point. That would be a decent little gun for up close personal defence, although it would not be my first choice.
it may be that the shells expand more because it would take more pressure to get the heavier slug moving, the inside of the shell would take that extra pressure causing the shell to expand more, i may be wrong but that makes sense to me....

Loose grouping though! Think they are a really good gun for the money ($125 new for mine) and very good and light concealed carry when taking evening walks after work in jogging shorts.
i wouldnt recomend a hollow point as a defensive round in .22lr because you want as much penetration as you can get... even in higher calibers upwards of a .380..sorry dont mean to contradict..ps cool little gun

Loose grouping though! Think they are a really good gun for the money ($125 new for mine) and very good and light concealed carry when taking evening walks after work in jogging shorts.

i wouldnt recomend a hollow point as a defensive round in .22lr because you want as much penetration as you can get... even in higher calibers upwards of a .380..sorry dont mean to contradict..ps cool little gun

@cutlerylover I think that's just to purchase. At least as far as federal law goes. In other words a 16 year old can have a pistol that was a gift from a parent but cannot buy one themselves.

That subsonic ammo is actually kinda hot. It's the added weight that makes it subsonic. The pressure is higher 'cause of the added weight. That's why it expands.
I like those bullits alot too. a certain army in the Mid East uses them w/ slinced Ruger rifles fit w/ a special barrel that has a faster twist in the rifling.

That 60 gr bullet is in a 22 short case. Thus more expansion in the chamber. Not recommended for handguns anyway. DUHU!
