  • No wonder I was screwed up growing up wondering who sang what. You would think that Peter was the lead singer after this video.

  • Happy 69th Mike and 66th Davey :)

  • I remember seeing this episode when they used the song "Forget That Girl". Having the song "I'm A Believer" makes more sense.

  • shriek didn't write his own music

  • OMG LMAO @2:36

  • he was cute, she was pretty, they were all so cute <3 i liked the video =]

  • The start of music videos.

  • I love this song. mickey has a nice voice. I said hi to him as he was coming out of the tour bus. he said sweetheart i am running late and pointed to his watch. he was so nice. not mad or mean.

  • Peter was so sweet in this video :)

  • 1:43

Pete just couldn't help smiling. xD

  • id love to be that chick... cute and loved by comeone as deep as pete...

  • One of my favorite songs!

    Thanks!!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • this resonates for people like me who are "a sucker for a pretty face". I have to say that girl looks like "my perfect woman".

  • as long as there are lips to be kissed, love will never die or say bye as my eye will all ways blink and wink wink and skate my lips over lips to slide my lips against and steal a kiss for it is not a crime . 4 eye am kiss me dove there is no place to hide. kissmass dove kissmet

  • lmao he threw the girl's coat on the ground instead of his that was hilarious! XD

  • I love the vintage hotties.

Ive got this origional single on vinyl, is it worth anything?

  • :)I feel so young but this is a great song.

  • The CAR !!!!!!

  • That's a pretty girl

  • My favourite Monkees song. :)

  • This is probably the only episode I don't remember seeing. :-(

  • Go Peter!

  • "Written by Neil Diamond as was most of their songs" - Not true. He only wrote a couple of them.

  • is this song theirs??

  • the song that made them

  • THIS IS SOOO FUNNY! LOL!!XD so cute too!

  • Peter..the original "Joey"-of friends

  • Written by Neil Diamond as was most of their songs.

  • hi

whats the name of the girl ?

    shes so cute !

  • Lisa James!

    She plays "Valerie Cartwright"

Her last aparence was in "Down to Earth", she played "Betty Minnix" in the 1st episode, in 1984.

I don't know if she is still alive

  • "Shrek Song" LOL

    rather, L-O-Freaking-L!

  • oh my god the shirt Mickey is wearing....I remember those "velour" shirts that were creepy soft....you washed them once and they felt like cardboard

  • aint that sweet

    aint that cute

  • wabibinay is an idiot , Smashmouth sucks !!! The Monkees are the BEST !

  • No one likes a fanboy, Smashmouth made a good remake and that's their tribute, you're acting like they can't make shit themselves and steal old songs. Don't compare Remakes/Covers to Originals, just enjoy it and appreciate it as a tribute, I'm sure if you're such a big fan of the Monkees and play guitar, you'd play this song for fun, right? GET OVER IT!

  • i wish i were her peter's so cute!

  • This show is pretty funny.

    She's cute, what's her name?

I like how smoking was classy back then.

  • Lisa James!

    She plays "Valerie Cartwright"

Her last aparence was in "Down to Earth", she played "Betty Minnix" in the 1st episode, in 1984.

I don't know if she is still alive

  • you dumb freaken punks,,,yeah its suppose to be sarcasm bleeyotch, i was born in them days, hahahqhaha...i know all the monkees hits as well as the beatles and all them other animals and insects......yeesh!

  • Somebody likes the foreplay!!!!!!!! Lol awesome vid and if your too stupid to hear/see the video footage you can see that its clearly from an older time. Maaaybe a couple years before shrek. Lol

  • yeah, wabibinay, r u stupid? aha i actually thought ur commwnt was in sarcasm. ITs amazing how they can mix these old clips with "Shrek's song", aha

  • heay wabibinay this is the agial song neal dimonds song so stop saing it is smash mouthths song it the monkees song and that goes to evry one who thinks its smash mouths oginal song ok

  • sorry wab but this is the original. smashmouth covered this song for Shrek. but a lot of ppl who never heard of the monkees would make this mistake.

and to clarify that's mickey singing lead in this one.

  • I'm a believer too! xD

  • yep!

  • What a cute little video! ^^

  • Austin Powers/Shrek features this song. Did not know it was the Monkees! Man they sure had some popular hits.

  • the shrek version was a cover by smash mouth a well done cover but it doesnt beat the original

  • Was also written by the great Neil Diamond.

  • wow cool i was unaware of that

  • True!

  • @suckstoyourazmar what original? dumbass this is not the original. Neil Diamond wrote it and recorded it before the freak monkees did.

  • GREAT MUSIC, GREAT TIME...!!!

    Obama '08

  • It indeed was a great time for music The southman but there was no need to add your political feelings....

  • interesting that Smash Mouth choose to re-record this song... :-)

  • that song wasnt even used in that episode...the song they used in this episode was Forget that Girl. one of my fav episodes though!

  • Yes it was! I am watching that episode now.

  • It's cool to see an episode where Davy is not the one who's having trouble with girls.

  • I always thought the producers overused "I'm A Believer" in the Monkees's TV series, but it works in this episode. Btw, the scene where Peter accidentally slammed the car door on Lisa James's leg was recreated in Juice Newton's video, "Love's Been A Little Hard On Me." The video was produced by Mike and wonder if he remembered that particular scene from this episode?

  • Peter Tork was suspended without pay by CBS because he insisted on wearing tight trousers and stuffing them with oblong objects.

  • This was always one of my favorite songs, even before I knew the Monkees did the song. This version is much better than Smashmouth

  • Classic. Perfect.

  • aww this video is so cute! I like this version of the song better then smashmouth. its alot softer.

  • good but to quiet for me to ear properly so I had to play it at full blast.

  • This chick is hot.

  • she kinda is

  • Am I wrong or most kids in the Disney channel have those hairstyles?

  • Modern recording is the difference with this version and smash mouths. A lot of people feel the old stuff is better maybe it is but the recordings just aren't as good.

  • gives*

  • gives*

  • i like both versions of this song but smashmouth gies a louder sound.

  • the video doesn't go with the song at all...with this segway was a song called Forget that Girl...it was just as nice

  • I have this and Daydream believer on 45 -- Boy am I old!

  • i love this song :) (my opinon)

  • okadokenel unvodent frontont.

  • This is very good. no scrap that this is bloody brilliant!! The Monkees can sing this better than anyone else

  • As much as I love Smash Mouth... and their version of this song... I have to give props to the Monkees for doing a really good original version. Though it would have sounded quite different had Davy done the vocals instead of Micky. Oh yeah, and what a dork that Peter Tork was back then.

  • A great song, written by Neil Diamond back in 1966.

  • Neil Diamond? Cool. Would be ineteresting to hear him sing it.

  • I remember seeing this on MTV in 1986 and again in 1997 on VH1. The song they used there was "Forget That Girl" from 1967. I am so glad the original version is posted. I am the proud owner of the Monkees dvd sets seasons 1 & 2!

  • I LOVE THE SONG!!

  • who's the girl?

  • I always loved this song! Nice hearing it again!! Funny Monkees!!

    Natasha

    xoxo

  • Ah but this was the original, by the monkees, written by Niel diamond

  • Yeah but the Monkees origingally sung it, it was only used in Shrek

  • Great Song!

  • Is that Johnny Damon at the beginning of the video?

  • i know..... i agree george w bush is stupid

peter to me seems really kind

  • LOVE the look of women from this period. Everyone, please do what you can to help bring back 'flower power' for the 40 year anniversary of the 'summer of love' this summer.

  • Why not? After all we have all of the ingredients ripe and ready for a second summer of love: an unpopular war, a sinking economy and rising gas prices, the loss of a major American city, general disillusionment with the establishment, more musicians rebelling against the fakeness of the last 8 years, and a potential atmosphere for a new sexual revolution. Why not? (though let's go easier on the drugs this time)

  • Smoke some more crack hippie, LOL!

  • Yeah man! Cocaine orgy with no impact on any politics FTW!

  • LOL I hear ya.

  • The economy was booming in 1967 and gas prices didn't rise till the 1970s. I'm not saying this just to contradict you. I just believe that part of what made the 60s youth rebellion possible was that it was a period of great post-war prosperity. It's easier to run away from the conventional life when you grew up with a sense of economic security.

  • @latinhero1818 hahahaha-it seems the new revolution will involve drug/sex suicides freeing thm from worldly consequences related to the backlash based on poor choices!

  • @latinhero1818 I was with you 'til you said no drugs... lol,

    <3.

  • "she's so fine...my 409..."----

    no that's another song...

They used this song in the movie Shrek &

I like some of these vintage clips.

The funniest part is the end

    ahhh... new love...

    Priceless.

  • I was brought up with the syndication ep featuring "Forget That Girl".....seems odd seeing this clip with a different tune.

  • Oh my gosh lovsmusic43210 you must be even stupider than Peter!!!!! I'm 13 and even I must be smarter than you!!!! Anyways

     Long live the Monkees!!! Jazzy

  • Peter was cool.

  • Good question. Micky said once that Peter hated the dum-dum act. The others were able to play their real selves on the show. This was my favorite Monkees episode. In reruns they replaced the song with Davy's Forget That Girl. Didn't seem appropriate because Peter didn't want to forget Valerie, and the others encouraged him to get closer to her.

  • peter is so cute aint he how come peter has to act as the dumb one all the time because to tell y'all the truth he is pretty smart

  • how come people are saying the peter is the dumb one

well to me he is pretty smart

  • Need I say it again?...Poor Peter. <3
