  • I'm about 14 weeks post-op now and what you said about a "monster inside you" resonates so much with me. I've lost a lot of weight and look a lot better, but I know that greedy guy is still inside me. He just can't eat as much as he used to do - he'd still like to. I think your honesty in your continuing food issues is very much appreciated.

  • Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Thanks for the wake up call. Im 6 months post op. Things were really easy the first 6 months but now i feel it getting more difficult. Most of the food choices i make are great. BUT temptation is always there and sometimes i do fail. This video is a great how important it is to make good choices with food and excersise. You still look great, though. I hope you keep posting videos. You are an inspiration!

  • Love the honesty and the good information, thank you for sharing.

  • Thanks for the video. I am certain you are back on the right track. You have admitted what you know are bad eating habits (and drinking the high calorie drinks at Starbucks). Try the non-fat latte and use Splenda. You could go back to tracking all your daily calories. I am almost three months out from my surgery, and your video is a terrific reminder about what will happen if I get lax on my eating, drinking and exercise habits. Thank you for your honesty. You can lose it again!

  • thank you so much i just had my surgery one month ago i had lapband prior to that ..i think that you will do great , your video makes me aware of reality ..At first every thing is easy but after the years pass by its when the real challange starts. you have been very succesfull .NOt for the weight loss but for the fact that you are aware of what harms you.I hope i have the same mentality as you in three years from now.. keep posting pls ...again thank you .

  • HI again ANDY, I'm in the exact same boat, 3 years out for me this week from Dr Joya. Nice to see that we share the same experience, everything you said, you hit on the nail. We know what we have to do, now we just got to do it. All the best to you and your family, happy 2012

  • you can do it...you know its just about the habits and specially about the mentality

    I had VSG: 5 months 294.8 > 184.8

I also have a video journal inspired on your experience and example. Thanks. You know that it's all still about will and discipline. The cirurgy helps but can't fix it all. You can do it. It's great to have you back, even if it is because you need new motivation

  • You can do it! I am getting vsg and your videos have inspired me so much and I know how hard it is! You and your wife are amazing!

  • I remember watching your videos before and just after my VSG. I had not checked out my subscriptions for a long long time until tonight at work. I have also fallen off the wagon and need to be more accountable with my choices. Thanks for sharing your story. I actually was looking for your site and your video just showed up so I wish u the best of luck and I will begin to start my journey over again as well.

  • Thanks for telling us what it's been like for you at 3 years out. It's really good to have that information.

  • So glad to see you posting again. I know the regain must be frustrating and a struggle to get back to where you were, but I think you are on the right track. You sound very similar to me with the sweets & cookies. Honestly, the only thing that saves me is the malabsorption of my DS. I too wanted to be a runner again but because of the years I carried the weight I now have arthritis in my knees so I swim & do water aerobics instead. I know that you will be successful & we are all rooting for you.

  • 3 words "mocha latter shake" by atkins love it!...congratulations on your new baby and confronting your struggle head on. The first part in fixing a problem is realizing you have one. You can beat this i also have an addictive personality so I am attempting to replace my food addiction with exercise. Good luck to you and your wife you guys have each other so success is in your future

  • great to have u back!

  • Glad to see your update Andy!..thanks for the heads up and for real low down on the food addiction haunting you and all of us. Just goes to show you focus on the goal has to remain front and center. We are here to support you.

  • I see you're driving through Atlanta..whoop whoop!!

  • I missed you and your wife! So glad BandedWendy gave me the head's up about your update! I love the accountability youtube provides. I'm not sleeved yet but I will be using it as another tool toward success! Welcome back sir and thanks for sharing and being so honest!!

  • Excellent video. I saw this on Facebook and am glad I watched. You are honest and an inspiration! Stay healthy.

  • Thanks so much for being up front and real. I had my VSG two years ago and I have gained about 10 lbs in the last couple months. I have done exactly what you mentioned too...tried different foods that perhaps weren't the greatest choice. I also drink soda pop occasionally. Congrats on the birth of a son!

  • Andy: you had my full attention 2x through. Thank you! I hear so much wisdom in your words. I applaud you for coming back to us and sharing your truth and struggles and game plan for the now. My husband is 9 years post op RNY and I am 2 years + 9 months LapBand. I too am a runner, swimmer and love to bike. I am hooked on your journey and will be watching you be accountable and plan to support you too. I posted a link to your vid on my WLS Facebook page. I bet it brings you more support

  • Congrats! You look great!

  • Hi there, fellow Georgian here... U said something n ur post about "having it done again" I've never heard of that. Is that possible? My surgery date was Nov 2010. and ur posts helped a. Lot. Thanks for being so open about ur journey. Rob

  • Great to hear from you again. I am a little over a month post-op. I had the VSG procedure done in the city where I live (Rockwall TX). Your videos really helped me decide to go for the VSG. I am very happy with the surgery. It is really interesting to hear your thoughts on living with the surgery after 4 years. Thank you for the great information, the sincerity, and the honesty. It means a lot to me and to countless others.

  • It is soooo good to see you here again. You still look great!!! congrats on your baby! Congrats on getting back on the wagon! Your a very inspiring man. Thank you for posting your vidios! I am getting weightloss surgery in April! I have enjoyed following your story.

  • So good to see you again! Thank you for your honesty. Wouldn't it just be awesome if the VSG was the miracle cure...sigh....lol! But what a blessing it is to have a tool that assists in our continuing journey. You'll get back to where ya wanna be, you recognize the situation and you're taking measures to get back on track. Wishing you great success! Love hugs & prayers, Pat

  • It's great to see you again. Love the frankness and if I would have known 9 months ago what I know now, I would have worked the heck out of the sleeve regardless of what was happening in life. It's so much harder the further out we get and I think this vid will really help people just starting out. Great job getting back on the wagon.

  • Great to see you! I appreciate your honesty. I think a lot of new people should hear this. I'm one month out today. Best of luck to you and Brooke!

  • So nice to see you back on YouTube - your videos were some of my favorites that I watched when I first started researching VSG. I too appreciate your honesty in this video, I'm getting sleeved 12/27 and while I'm excited to get started on my journey, your message came through loud and clear and is a good reminder for me that even after surgery I will have to follow the rules in order to maintain and keep the food demons at bay.

  • good to see you Andy...been watching your vids since the first one. good luck in getting things back in check.

  • Congrats in the new baby! Thank you so much for posting tbe video and giving us an insight of what is happening right now in your life as far as weight is concerned. God bless you and your family!

  • Hooray!! There he is, Andy, my mentor. You were my inspiration in deciding on VSG surgery, also in choosing Dr. Joya. I'm scheduled Feb. 24th. I've written a few times and was sad not getting a reply, but was more sad not seeing any video updates. Once goals are met videos are not a priority, especially after having a new baby. My well wishes to Brooke. I just posted my introduction video. If possible can I count on your support during my journey. The battle is forever. Sincerely, Lucille

  • thank you for an excellent update. I really appreciate your honesty and your renewed commitment to your WL Journey. Like before, you will take this journey one step at a time. At the 6month point of my journey I have hit a mental roadblock. The weight is still coming off, but I've lost my commitment to "the program". I'm still doing protein 1st, it's just that I'm incorporating too many unnecessary carbs in my diet. It's good to see you back! Diane NY

  • Thanks so much for the truth of long term post op! Congrats on the addition to the family. I am just in my second month of the six month pre op diet program and can hardly wait to get the surgery! Go Tech!!

  • Thanks for your update! You were one of the inspirations that led me to my DS on Oct 19! Since then, I've had to have a second surgery to correct a kink/bad angle in my stomach (one wek ago today). Really wish I could get a handle on the nausea and get back to work! Bright side? Started my journey at 376 and as of today, I'm 302...total loss of 74! On my way (hopefully) to 175. Good luck getting back in the swing of things and congrats on your baby!

  • Thanks for your forthright reflections & renewed accountability. Glad you're back. You & your wife have been an inspiration for me. Congrats on your new baby! I look forward to seeing more posts. I'm scheduled for the VSG 1/30th.

  • Thanks so much for your update. I am 3 years also and have regained some weight and have recommitted to logging my meals and exercise. Thanks for your accountability ThinJourney and it has helped me to get real about my eating.
