Hey man I live in Aberdeen I used to live in Brazil where I surfed a lot, since moving back to Aberdeen I havent done any surfing! But I will be getting my driving licence in a few weeks so i have a lot more opportunity to go searching for waves. Where would you reccomend travelling from Aberdeen? and also is a trip up to thurso worth it? I am not a pro or anything I amcomfortable in 5-8ft waves

my theory for so many people not liking kayaks, longboards, bodyboards is that there are so many inexperienced people doing those sports, for the simple reason that its more accessible than shortboarding. this is a shame cause i sponge and standup (short and long) and they are all just as good. however, as for those FARKIN KAYAKS........(joke!)

surfing is THE origional sport my friend, it has the style, fashion, and the legends.Bodyboarding is just a derivitive of surfing, it's a much smaller subculture for pipsqueeks who only have half a go.Then they drop the sport all together.You don't see alot of bodyboarders over 20.Either that or they grow up and get into REAL surfing.

did i say i hate'em, i ment i wouldnt wannt to change my board for one off those kayaks, i just dont like it to have guys paddling around in waves i would like to ride. corse it can be fun, nothing against you guys, just keep on doing your sport. it would be boring if everyone would be doing the same, surfing should stay something special, just like kayaking. It was December 06 air temp was 2c i dont know what the water temp was. It was a very cold day lol.

Check out the video i posted of Thurso East. I filmed it a few years ago now and I only got round to posting it recently. I used to live in Aberdeenand I learnt to surf all over Scotland - I now live in Taranaki New Zealand - an undiscovered surfing paradise. But I still check the surf in Scotland just for old times sake.
