i'm listening to it right now and the feel and lyrics are pretty much less angsty than this. hell this is about the people we lost and only that. kotzen's is about fighting on and living for the ones we've lost
The lyrics are atrocious and embarrassing; I can see that it's almost a direct translation, and I don't think that's really necessary. He could have conveyed it without using dumb lyrics like "From dying men, to all of their good women. To dying girls, to all of their boyfriends." Get out of town.
the word "boyfriends" was my only problem with it...I understand enough of the original songs that when I hear Ritchie Kotzen's version, it's very jarring that the meaning is changed, so that route is worse I think...
I had never heard Kotzen's version before you told me that. I checked it out, and let me say I prefer it (surprise!) Kotzen definitely is all about cheesy moaning and shit, and I didn't like how they didn't keep the pianos in his version, but all-in-all, I like it better. I guess I'm not such a big fan of "keeping it true" as much as I am making it into that doesn't make my ears cringe. If Andrew W.K. would use his lyrical lines, I think it'd be way better than Kotzen's!
The happiest song about death I have ever heard.

この曲、キーボードで始まったり、しだいに盛り上がったりするところが兄貴のスタイルとマッチしてる。イイね!

I wonder whats ppls responses would be to this version of the song if it was played backed in the 70s during the vietnam war?
Tom3744 2 years ago
Well the song was composed in the early 80s for Mobile Suit Gundam Movie 2: Soldiers of Sorrow.

Mobile Suit Gundam was also basically a WWII Alegory. lol
FleetOfRetribution 2 years ago 3
it was also a Revolutionary War allegory, so in every sense it's just a reflection of War in general.

Fire your laser? Maybe you should get the fuck back to /b/, first.
Also, it's not my fault you suck at Audiosurf.

It is your fault that you're being a dick though.

No-one in the Octo-Squad would play mono. Even Russell would at least use Eraser.

This would make a great Rock Opera

I like because of irony and sarcasm lol
the lyrics here set themselves up like a feddy propaganda. It seems more 'real' than Richie's version
though I'm probably pretty far off

Thats exactly how i feel, kotzen's was made too angsty and american
i enjoy this more literal translation
mtncal 2 years ago
you do realize that kotzen's lyrics are actually more how you say friendlier than this and the original right?
no way that richie's lyrics was angsty at all.
but anyway I liked all versions except gactk's
