did you use a Scotch-Brite for the part of the car that's not primed to help the paint to stick on? I mean, for the part that has still the factory paint.
@robertdeuce Since you'll be doing this for the first time, it'll be hard to avoid orange peel. Orange peel isnt that bad, just somewhere about a month and a half after painting, you'll need to sand the car, then polish it.
when i spray the clear coat on, it always drips after about 1 or 2 minutes, so i have no idea how much or little to put on at the time im spraying, because i dont see the results until a few minutes later, and im not even really putting all that much on.
How do i get around this? more hardener? hella thin coats?
And also get orange peel in some sections and not in others, i think im painting fairly evenly though...
I dunno man, I been painting for 16 years and my technique is way different, I got a clip of me painting on my page, but I think you was waisting a lot of paint when you didn't need to and the first coat of base was pretty heavy, I would of gazed a coat over the repair before smacking it that hard. But good job
so I was watching and wondering why your clear was splashing around in your cup? I thought that it was always good practice to hold your gun upside down and get all of the air out of the bag before shooting? I have noticed that sometimes usually with thicker paints, once you get down to the last of'r she gets paint starved a bit. Just wondering if thats why?
can you tell me a good paint-thinner combination? like how many liters of paint for a liter of paint thinner? sorry for the english... not my main language. thank you. I'd like it fire red or deep black (super shiny) by the way. thhanks..
Amazing work Jimmo :) Thanks to You i know how to repair paint on my vehicle :) Can You tell which pressure i have to set when painting clear coat with LVLP gun with 0,8 mm nozzle ?? Thanks !
Depends on the color, brand/type of paint, size of car. Typically anywhere from 1/2 gallon to a gallon and a half. Average car with BASF paint probably about 3/4 gallon at most.
This video should read, watch me apply base and clear. NOT how to apply base and clear. No given instructions at all! Dumb!

It looks like you gave it about 2 minutes between the 1st and 2nd coat of clear. Fast flash time?

If I were the guy from saw, I'd force people to do this without a gas mask.
