@ventuskeywielder why would you want your trucks smaller than the board? just buy trucks that fit its easier to grind with trucks that fit your board.
I could see that as a pretty good theory, generally speaking... in this case the trucks were still in development, and though in my case the alloy was a bad batch (@ least that was the info from Dwindle, they did offer to send some from a newer batch).
I do see where you're coming from though... deign and materials play a crucial role, but maybe all of that energy passing through less mass (light decks/trucks) does more damage since there's less stuff for the energy to go through...
Hah, nah he's cooler than that! Steve Douglas from Dwindle was one of the first people to see the review, and if he's cool with it then it'll be up for a while! Cheers homie!
i was thinking about buying tensor trucks and i was woundering if i should replace the bushings with other ones or should i keep the initial bushings?
Check out what @r3ynoldsisdaboss said... it's all up to you homie... we all like different flavors, you know? Just see what you like... and if you wind up needing new bushings then you're only out a couple of bucks.
Also, keep in mind that it can take a good week or two (or longer) until your bushings have truly "broken in," just see how ya like 'em stock, and if you don't like them after a while switch them later on. Keep in mind, the review trucks were still in development.
i have response tensors and they're sweet. i had to spend alot of time adjusting them to my liking as they were to lose out of the box. but still tensors are the best trucks ever!!! :)
I'm not trying to come across as "don't ride this, ride these..." because I appreciate the fact that not everyone has the same tastes in hardware... the videos are reviews of my on and off camera experiences with whatever is sent to me.
Meaning... I don't rag on anyone riding different stuff. I just throw out my opinion and try to show everything being skated on (enough to show the type of skating I do, and people of diff skill levels can base their opinion on the worth). Peace!
My shattered baseplate wasn't very awesome. Anyway, just my opinion, I'm not telling people they have the wrong gear if I don't like something... we all dig on different things, that's just what makes skating better to me... we have individual preferences.
Honestly, I hate Tensors and I hate the Uber Light decks. You pretty much hit the nail on the head for me when you described the trucks in the beginning of the video, and out of all the other trucks I've seen my friends ride, Tensors always break the most. I got an Uber Light deck for christmas last year, and honestly I hated it. I still rode it as long as I could until it broke after about a month and a half, and throughout the entire time I was on it the board just felt unnatural and plastic.
Besides breaking, I personally hated the way they rode. It's not the bushings, it's the geometry that the trucks are designed to turn in. To me, sort've funky in a not-so-good way. But that's just me.
@WheelsAndDecks I ride Tensors, and the bushings sucked real bad. The bushing washer started cutting into them, and they didn't return to center very well. They felt stiff, but still loose.
I replaced them with Bones medium bushings, and they ride smooth now.
My tensor magnesiums work cause I use them what they are made for-you guessed it freestyle. And grimcity for pogos and other flatground would you recomend the über light for freestly. Plus I know that skate park and live in new Orleans. Dreamland Hammond all the way!!!
there was aparently loads of bad batches of tensors .. the new responce magnesiums are really light and good .. im going to buy my second pair although I might replace the bushings and bushing plates. anyone got bushing recommendations? i heard do do's are good
@exy4fireman Before they broke, I hated them more than any truck I'd ever ridden. They don't carve, the turn they do have seems off, and bad alloy or not, I still can't get over the fact that they broke so quickly.
@grimcity i have tensor magneisiums and thay work prety good to me so i dont know if theres a differance bettween the ones you rode and the ones i have
@ransomdave every pair of indys ive had seemed to stick in place when i turn and make the front wheels come off the ground when i even slightly put my weight to one side. i dont know if this is a fluke and im unlucky but if all indys are like that i would not buy another pair.
@alecxg They only do that when there loose, i like loose trucks but i have to ride them tight or they do what i said below so im guessing that means i do just have faulty trucks?
@OpticalFilms really thats weird. ive always liked them and i always skate them as loose as they go, so i could just be faulty or you just need new bushing or something like that.
You inspire me too, homie! No worries either... a bunch of the dudes I roll with are what you might call "big fellas" and it doesn't mean anything... as long as you're good enough to have fun, you'e as good as you need to be!
Roll forever Michael, thanks for taking time to write man! Cheers!
For bushings, I just re use the same pair of yellow Doh-Doh bushings. I really want to try the tensors out. I know someone who skates them, and they look great. I have a birthday coming up, should I ask for them? Or something else? Are the Destructo Magnesiums good?
ive shattered 2 sets of destructo base plates, in a row. on those same 2 sets of destructos , the hangers broke as well. this happened within 1 week of skating manual pads and flat. great feeling trucks, the destructo lows, but i was astonished as to how fast they broke. im skating the theeves right now and still breaking in the bushings.
does anyone know a deck and trucks for a heavyer set person? i am about like 5'6 and weigh like 145.... hmm and i rly like 2 sk8... let my friend use my board and he snapped it.. x.x any ideas?
I'm about the same height, maybe an inch or so taller, and I weight 165. I can vouch for Thunder, Indy, Venture, Krux and Destructos in my own experience.
As far as decks, I'm partial to the Deluxe brands, as well as boards that are pressed by P-Stix, Southern Manufacturing, Watson, Chapman, Bareback and Acme.
woow i can't believe how bad that baseplate cracked mahn, and i just ordered some tensor sliders anthracites earlier!, i also got my first bamboo deck with it, should be an interesting ride, i hope the trucks'll hold up!, gr8 review anyway mate!
I've only ever broken my trucks at the hangar as you called it. but the setup itself was pretty crappy anyway and it was super cold out too.
So far I'm really liking the review. It'd be nice if you could do more on the huge variety of board types out there cuz I really don't know how to compare something like a helium to an armorlite, etc. Specificly I'd like some more information on bamboo decks.
Concerning the bamboo decks, check out my review on Skate Season Distribution. The deck wasn't entirely bamboo, but it did have bamboo in it. I have more reviews coming down the line, they just take me a while to do because of work, my wife, and my own skate time off camera. I will have some unique products coming soon though! I only really review things that are sent to me, since I only buy shop decks or products from Deluxe (and occasional flow from both). I'll review anything, though. Cheers!
I would really love for you to do some reviews on Destructo Trucks. The regular, magnesium, and the new D2's would be sweet.. You can compare them to all of the other brands you have rode. It would be extremely insightful.
I'm working up a board review right now, they just take me forever to complete (I have to film these around my job and off camera skate sessions), plus I like to give the thing being reviewed a couple of weeks worth of testing. I actually like the regular Destructos (they're the only ones I've ridden at this point). I've had three sets and they turn & grind fine... broke a kingpin once, but that'll happen. Happy new year! Cheers!
i got my first stage tens about a week a go love em but i still use my stage 8... and im ordering a pair of tensors as i speek and i will never go wit any thing but indy and i want to try the forged trucks .. but i need to know the diff and there are no reviews on em yet but i hear they r gonna start makin stage 10 out of the forged if they keep selling
i just wanted to try them i waited for them to get better but i like indys but want somthing to go on this shity deck with rucas trucks so i got tenso to just see...and btw have you tried the indy forged
Nah, haven't tried the forged out, but they ride the same since the kingpin and turn are all at the same angle/radius as the regular ones. Sick trucks for sure... one thing though, if you like turning and carving (on Indy) I really don't think you're going to like Tensor very much. They simply don't carve... it's hard to explain but you'll see.
I love tensors cuz Im a flatground tech banger, love games of skate and loading docks and grinding ledges. But I Bought the first set of tensor magnesiums and they broke too and I was told it was like a beta version I was like "why would i be sold a test subject?" so i got bummed and used my old pair of Krux. The mags were out for about 6 months more and I bought em again and they were perfect. No Breaking! I can tell theyre not the same as the first ones i bought which were ridiculously light.
I have always ridden independent trucks, in the 80's and now that I'm starting to skate again I've got a set of independents trucks.I used to grind a lot over granite kerbs and do ollies falling onto the kerb and I've never broken an indy truck. I've never met someone who has ever broken an independent truck but I've seen friend of mine breaking a Gullwing or Tracker's in the 80's. Now there're more companies. However, I still trusting indy's I bet for something I know that works pretty well.
I couldn't believe they broke either... especially since I never left the tennis courts (and barely landed anything). It was supposedly a bad batch of alloy, but I've had a comment or two since I made this vid from homies saying the same thing happened to them too... hmmm...
But yeah, Indy... what else is there to say? They're just great. They're my truck of choice as well.
I ride with Tensor Mullen Slider Pro Lo Trucks. They are amazing especially with the setup I got. Chocolate deck, those trucks, pig stripped wheels(Sometimes I ride with my darkstars alot better) reds bearings and true stripped grip tape oh yeah and some bones hardcore bushings and shortys punk bolts. Great setup
I had a pair of tensors before, they were some baby blue lows, and i did not loosen them, i just rolled around for about 3-4 days, didnt even pop a single ollie, first to break in the bushings and then i loosened the to fit how i like em, and it worked and then i skated the shit out off my set up. and i still have em, and that was a a good two years ago. but i dont ride em anymore, i got on page and started to ride Ventures.
Yeah, they were relatively tight (compared to how loose I normally rid trucks) so even if the trucks I had hadn't been faulty, I don't think the trucks suit the type of turning and carving I tend to do. Everyone has a particular taste in what they like and the type of skating they do, these just aren't designed for me. I think it's sick that we have so many options though.
howdo u get one of those boardsand i tried to get one but couldent find them eney where because i want a board that will last a long time an wount break .
damn, i ordered a pair of responses yesterday and regret it. ive heard if you break tensor trucks you can send them to the company for new ones. does anyone know anything about this?
dude i think it was just a chance base break because my tensors are perfect. and how didnt he notice the break while he was talkin shit? cuz he is just bias against tensor.
If you watched the whole thing you'd see that it was because of a bad batch of alloy.
Regardless, a bias against Tensor wouldn't make them break within 45 minutes on flat. I didn't notice they were broken because they just felt like they were loosening up... breaking them on flat was the last thing I'd expected. If you don't like my vids, skip over them, but I'm not a liar.
No, you are just retarded and think he's talking shit when he's nicely stating the outcome. Grimcity knows what he's talking about and those trucks broke on flatground in the first 45 minutes.
I'd conclude they were pretty shit considering tensors have a bad reputation for having no turn already.
OK everybody listen to me! tensor trucks are for going down hill where you dont need to carve as much and tensor take away the speed wobbles when you go extremely fast. tensors are also for just street where you dont need to carve as much. well thats it!
they definately are not bad trucks by any means. I own a pair of the magnesium responses. They work wonderfully if you are looking for a truck that responds like they do. Its definately not a bad thing. Just different. Im on my second pair of tensors and the only problem i had was with my old sliders the plastic piece would break off on ocasion. Ive ridden many differnt pairs of trucks indy destructo, etc and tensors provide the feel im looking for. and who gives a shit how light they are.
Xttp://oldmanskater.blogspot.com/2011/10/review-slip-tape-and-tensor-r2-trucks.html
Take a look here. May be this setup would solve the prob.

I would really love for you to do some reviews on Destructo Trucks. The regular, magnesium, and the new D2's would be sweet.. You can compare them to all of the other brands you have rode. It would be extremely insightful.
Great review, by the way. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, brad, I appreciate it!
Cheers!

i got my first stage tens about a week a go love em but i still use my stage 8... and im ordering a pair of tensors as i speek and i will never go wit any thing but indy and i want to try the forged trucks .. but i need to know the diff and there are no reviews on em yet but i hear they r gonna start makin stage 10 out of the forged if they keep selling
dhotman166 2 years ago
Why are you ordering Tensors if you ride Indy? Just curious.
grimcity 2 years ago
i just wanted to try them i waited for them to get better but i like indys but want somthing to go on this shity deck with rucas trucks so i got tenso to just see...and btw have you tried the indy forged
dhotman166 2 years ago

However, I still trusting indy's I bet for something I know that works pretty well.

tensors r good trucks sliders r made for street respons is made for more tansishon
12skateman 2 years ago
Response trucks are not made for transition. They have the same kingpin geometry as the regular ones with the sliders.
All of the information (as well as the board and trucks) came directly from Dwindle Distribution, with the exception of my comments about the gear.
grimcity 2 years ago
i hate the response i like the mags but indys are the best and ive had a pair for 6 years and gave em to my son
dhotman166 2 years ago
Yeah, it's all tastes... I tend to be a big fan of Indy's myself. They just turn so damned proper!
grimcity 2 years ago
have u tried venture super light people say those are good ,what yo opinion
dhotman166 2 years ago
Thunders or Indy's. Don't mess with anything else. just a waste of money. tensors are like destructos.
yumaokamoto 2 years ago 2
Yeah, you can't really go wrong with Thunder or Indy... good shit for sure!
grimcity 2 years ago
ive had nothing but bad experiences with tensors their just not worth the extra money u pay for them.
sk8kevin93 2 years ago
Fuck, I can't believe you broke them so fast.
Independant Stage 10's!
Redheadsrule2406 2 years ago
I couldn't believe they broke either... especially since I never left the tennis courts (and barely landed anything). It was supposedly a bad batch of alloy, but I've had a comment or two since I made this vid from homies saying the same thing happened to them too... hmmm...
But yeah, Indy... what else is there to say? They're just great. They're my truck of choice as well.

i just skate independent

I ride with Tensor Mullen Slider Pro Lo Trucks. They are amazing especially with the setup I got. Chocolate deck, those trucks, pig stripped wheels(Sometimes I ride with my darkstars alot better) reds bearings and true stripped grip tape oh yeah and some bones hardcore bushings and shortys punk bolts. Great setup
DuffBeer4545 2 years ago
destructos all the way

ZeroAndMystery 2 years ago
ive heard they break really easy and wear away fast i skate ventures and they dont take as long to break in and they gring and last long
MagnoliaSoulja504 2 years ago
yeah i know what you mean im go for bones hardcore bushings make my board turn like a dream lol
drummerdudesam 2 years ago
I had a pair of tensors before, they were some baby blue lows, and i did not loosen them, i just rolled around for about 3-4 days, didnt even pop a single ollie, first to break in the bushings and then i loosened the to fit how i like em, and it worked and then i skated the shit out off my set up. and i still have em, and that was a a good two years ago. but i dont ride em anymore, i got on page and started to ride Ventures.

neal did the uber light have massive pop
ross777777777 2 years ago
tensor trucks rocks.
TheMiniMuska 2 years ago
You have to always tighten tensors before you skate. Ride them tight, because they get loose while you skate.
CalibratedPh33r 2 years ago
Yeah, they were relatively tight (compared to how loose I normally rid trucks) so even if the trucks I had hadn't been faulty, I don't think the trucks suit the type of turning and carving I tend to do. Everyone has a particular taste in what they like and the type of skating they do, these just aren't designed for me. I think it's sick that we have so many options though.
grimcity 2 years ago
tensors are made in china, that prob doesnt help
food4damoon 2 years ago
I tend to agree with that. Cheers!
grimcity 2 years ago
howdo u get one of those boardsand i tried to get one but couldent find them eney where because i want a board that will last a long time an wount break .
maliksanders1 2 years ago
damn, i ordered a pair of responses yesterday and regret it. ive heard if you break tensor trucks you can send them to the company for new ones. does anyone know anything about this?
tjsmith07 2 years ago
i doubt that i think thats destructo only sorry bro but i dunno i think tensors are strong but theyre great trucks

you talk to much
scootfrek 2 years ago
It's a review. I have to talk because I lack telekinetic abilities.
My humble apologies for forcing you to watch.
grimcity 2 years ago
dude i think it was just a chance base break because my tensors are perfect. and how didnt he notice the break while he was talkin shit? cuz he is just bias against tensor.
juggalotus304 2 years ago
If you watched the whole thing you'd see that it was because of a bad batch of alloy.
Regardless, a bias against Tensor wouldn't make them break within 45 minutes on flat. I didn't notice they were broken because they just felt like they were loosening up... breaking them on flat was the last thing I'd expected. If you don't like my vids, skip over them, but I'm not a liar.
grimcity 2 years ago
No, you are just retarded and think he's talking shit when he's nicely stating the outcome. Grimcity knows what he's talking about and those trucks broke on flatground in the first 45 minutes.
I'd conclude they were pretty shit considering tensors have a bad reputation for having no turn already.
mvious92 2 years ago
OK everybody listen to me! tensor trucks are for going down hill where you dont need to carve as much and tensor take away the speed wobbles when you go extremely fast. tensors are also for just street where you dont need to carve as much. well thats it!
KidsWithGuns9 2 years ago
they definately are not bad trucks by any means.
Banks1111 2 years ago
Are tensors tight trucks or they just don't turn? Tensor vs. venture how would they compare.
penboy12 2 years ago
As far as turning goes, they don't compare at all. If you like turning and carving, avoid Tensors (imho).

According to Dwindle Distribution (reported in the video), it was the alloy. You're simply not
