@rkos008 I wrote to Pandit Hrdayanathji in the 80s about this immortal song and he told me it is composed in the Raag known as Raamdaasi Malhaar. It does have a similarity to Miyan Kee Malhaar. No wonder you thought of that raaga. There are several Malhaars such as Megh Malhar, Meera Kee Malhar, and Soordasee Malhar.
one great this My Guru told me about this particular bhajan is that Lataji who has been singing semi classical or bollywood songs has sung this song keeping in mind all the rules of Pure classical singing with such perfection that the best of classical singers wud get a complex.... amazing...
Mhara Re Giridhar Goal Dusara Na Koya....Says it all.Drank the poison in Devotion....Meera Re Lagan Laya ,Hod Hoj Hoya.........Gives strenght to face the worst, really. Thanks a lots SJ......What can be said about Hridaynath and Lata?Wohi bhagwan ke log hai!
This bhajan gives me the strength to cope with all that I am going through. Lord Krishna let me hold onto Your name as You wash away my karma...hold me close and dont let me be swept away in Maya and ignorance. Let me see reality for what it is....no matter how painful and realise that I see only a fraction of my all of my karma ,You see it in its entirety. I surrendered to You to do and asked You to do what was karmically best for me...now give me the Strength and Courage to deal with it.
@1979tintin May Krshna guard you and save you from all suffering. This song has been with me for more than 40 years and the blessings of Meera Devi and those of Lataji, Hrdayanathji, and the creator of Raamdaasi Malhar raga and also Pandit Hariprasadji who plays the bansuri in this have made me so happy and bull of cleansing Bhakti so many times. It is this song that brought the divine presence of Bansuri vaadan into my life. I believe it is the best Meera Bhajan ever. Krishna bless us all.
sir ,uploading of these precious gems is a great service to humanity . you don't know how much happiness is being given to others by these divine bhajans by lata di .
What a delight to find this beautiful Meera bhajan sent my way, thanks to Dear chamogaa ji! :) I've always loved being swept away to a trance like euphoria enjoying this particular bhajan by Lataji in her melodious rendition ever since I heard this in my childhood! :) The bansuri music I can't get enough of, touches the soul throughout in this, in concert with her voice, the tabla & the bells, in this truly divine rendition. Thanks, SJ for uploading such a blissful treat. :) Best Always, Ritu
Oh, what a joy to see this one back on your channel ! The opening bansuri notes and their subsequent support, along with that of the the soft tabla beats, are just divine in themselves-- all sculpted just right for a heavenly Lata rendition of this Meera poem. Thanks,SJ.

Tears flowed incessantly while listening. May Ishwar bless you and bless Bharat bhumi, the land of such spiritual giants as Meerabai. Thanks!
