I think it's very realistic the kinetic volleys would not effect the Enterprise, simply because of the deflector shields. At most, the Enterprise would experience the equivalent of a heavy meteor shower, the explosive charges would simply bounce off. The Enterprise phasers would chew right through the armor of Pegasus. Very realistic video, the worst threat to the Enterprise is an overload of their own systems.
@erentheca While I agree with your points, I do feel that the Enterprise should show some effect from the hits, and this is a weakness in the video. For instance, when the nuclear device was detonated in "Balance of Terror" it clearly affected the Enterprise despite the shields. Unfortunately I just don't have any footage of the bridge shaking or people lurching in the corridors to show this effect.
actually the nuke was too close to the shields. It wasn't like a typical scenario where the nuke is fired with distance to close and hits the shields. The nuke was right next to the shield grid when it blew up so it has a different effect.
Why is it that no one has been able to make a good BSG vs Star Trek vid? I mean, why does this vid feature the sci-fi logo whenever we're looking at the BSG stuff?
Why is it that the Pegasus fires and there was no indication that it's volley hit the Enterprise? Grah!!
All valid criticisms. The answer is because I had to use the footage that I had available, and I don't own the DVD's or a video capture card, so I was quite limited in what I could scavenge. If I had some footage from an episode of Star Trek where the bridge crew is being buffeted and panels are exploding, I would certainly add it as reaction to some of the volleys from the Pegasus.
@TheWindClaw I have posted a new version of this video, which includes the Enterprise shaking and taking some damage from the pounding by the Pegasus, especially at the point when the Enterprise suffers the phaser overload. I think this adds to the realism (to the extent that that word applies in this instance).
A valid criticism. Unfortunately I was limited by what I had available to cut and paste. Some day I'd like to do this over with a lot more footage from both shows.
In an old childhood universe of my imagination...the Connie is developed, beats the D-7 which leads to the Basestar and the Raider, which prompts the Battlestar and the Viper, which results in the IMP Star Destroyer and the TIE fighter, which is countered by the Mon Cal cruiser and the X-Wing...all in one big happy universe. Well not necessarily happy...all the big naval battles of WWII happened again, in space.
There are some nice videos here on YouTube of things like Star Wars vs BSG and Babylon 5 vs Star Wars... I've also imagined what might happen if X-Wings, Vipers, Star Furies, Buck Rogers' Starfighters, Space 1999 Hawks, SHADO's, and TIE fighters could meet in space. Too bad I don't have the skills to create that battle onscreen.
The Battlestar Galatica from the reimagined series possesses a much lower level of technology than the Enterprise - it doesn't have energy weapons or defensive shields, and what weapons it DOES have wouldn't get past the Enterprise's deflector screens.
The new series is very different from the original. It's had its great episodes, and a few terrible ones as well (Woman King, Black Market) but it was always watchable and often surprising, IMO. However everyone is entitled to their opinion. Don't forget also, the Enterprise was nearly destroyed by a nuke in "Patterns of Force" and in "Balance of Terror" while the new Galactica can stand up to hits by multiple nukes. Of course the Enterprise has energy weapons and deflector shields...
Good job though people from BSG were too evil too live fighting with themselves Good to be rid of them.

Pegasus repetitive fire was rather entertaining.

Too repetative in how fire was exchanged.

Now can we have the JJ's Movie Enterprise against the new Galatica
KanameTousen 2 years ago
That would be sweet. I wonder if Ron Moore could arrange it on the big screen...

Battlestar Galactica would pwn Enterprise, or any other ST ship. have you seen that ship?

Not if it were the new Galacitca fought against them. New Series sucks.
