So so. Kiri tones down the opera voice mannerisms--but she can't totally---a Broadway singer would give this more energy. The two voices are so opposite--and NEVER the twain should meet--witness the awful West side Story that Kiri and Carreras were in. Moral: Just because you can technically do something, doesn't mean you have the right voice for it.

She is knighted Dame Kiri Tekanawa,one of our most celebrated opera singers of all time. She sang for Prince Charles & Lady Diana when they were married & sang on the soundtrack "Room with a View". btw, it's an honour to be in a R&H musical, especially as a musican!

She actually has a useable low F! O.O Mine is just about almost all air! I can hit it but I wouldn't use it on stage...

I love her :) She can sing just about anything (except Wagnerian stuff lol).

musicyh, she has sung at least two arias from Tannhauser. I watched the dvd of Meeting Venus only recently; was so astonished to hear Kiri's singing out of Glenn Close's mouth (the synchronization was perfect). Then I bought the cd of the original sound track. According to the liner notes by Estvan Szabo, who did conduct some performances of Tannhauser, Kiri's singing for Glenn Close was flawless. Am ignorant on Wagnerian singing & won't judge how well Kiri sang but her voice was beautiful.
