Rakim, Big Daddy Kane & Kool G Rap = 80's Top 3 MCs
Nas, Pharoahe Monch & Ice Cube = 90's Top 3 MCs
Elzhi, Canibus & MF DOOM = Top 3 21st century MCs
Honorable Mentions: KRS-One, Chuck D, Q-Tip, Eminem, J-Live, Gift of Gab, Aceyalone, Masta Ace, Black Thought, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, One Be Lo, Andre 3000, GZA, Guru, Ras Kass and a few others.
can't nobody follow after that....lol....they better come wit it...if they even think about being in that class of best mc's dead or alive...all the real old school legends know who they are...i'm not knocking the up and comers...it's not how much money ya got or where you are on da charts.....lyricism is an art...fuck that happy rap shit.....take it back to when ya heard somebody spit that real raw shit and you played that shit back to make sure you heard right...bring back lyricism dammitt...
@saddat1965, I didn't 4get about KRS, it's just that I did my own personal top three spot. Now if I would of done my own personal top 4 spot, he would of been #4
why everyone gotta hate on Wayne... if you truly listened to him you know he can rap.. it's not the same as old hip hop but what music hasn't changed into something else? Nobody would listen to Wayne if he rapped like this... nobody would listen to anyone nowadays if they still rapped like this because it's something completely different now. Nobody wants to hear new people singing like they did in the 80's.. so why would rappers rap like they did in the 80's?
They both started out ight the first 45 secs, then they just started going straight hard the whole time, I can't even say who's better, both their raps were soooo ill.
Listen to the content and metaphores then UNDERSTAND that this track was re-made by Kane & G Rap in1988!!! If you can truly understand that, then you my friend what hip hop supremacy is. Only a couple of rappers during that era could go in like this. Melle Mel, Grand Master Kas, Rakim, MC Shan, Tragedy, LL Cool J, KRS One...
Thats what a young G Rap sounded like. Throughout his carrier he's gotten more barritone/bass to his voice. Even if you listen to his early 90s stuff his voice is at a much different pitch than it is today. Most underrated M.C. to ever rock the mic!
When I was a kid, back before there was 'mixtapes' there was battle tapes. Two MC's would battle on a tape and let it float around the neighborhood and the streets would judge who won. There was a legendary one between Kane and Kool G. Rap. I wish like a motherfucker I had that tape still. It like a half hour long, non-stop firing at each other.
@Peemic They are both great on their own thing, different technique and delivery, but i do like G. Rap better, without G Rap, Big pun, The rugged man would never do it like they do
This should have been on vinyl, Kane is my fav of all time and this is one of his best rhymes but KGR held it down if this was a battle by the time you read this comment I still wouldn't have been able to choose a winner! Solid Gold!!!!!!

kool g rap and kane true masters of the craft somebody tell me what the hell is a walka floclkca shit i cant spell that wack ass shit true hip hop will always live
@CoolGuy95ya well you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, dingbat! The rappers I mentioned are not in Kane's category. That was my point, dumbass! I was listening to Kane when you were in your dad's nutsack, so I can pretty much say what I want. I did not know it was a crime to say another rapper's name, so go back to listening to Justin Beiber, you cunt!
@myboyz24 You just had to mention another bad artist didn't you... And if youre the old fuck you claim to be you should be taking care of a family rather then posting stupid comments on a youtube video.
@CoolGuy95ya why you illiterate mother fucker. Don't worry about what the FUCK I be doing with my family, something you will NEVER know about. Now do everyone a favor & go back to your mother's basement & go back to masturbating to porn, you waste of sperm. RESPECT YOUR ELDERS, BITCH!
I'm 34 years old. I miss this. I grew up on this. I remember listening to my 1/2 hour of yo MTV raps and trying to hang out with my older cousins with the radio so loud, PURE TREBLE making you blink with each hit on the snare! LOL.
I don't listen to much of the rap today cause all it these rappers do today is talk about their ego's and money like it's the only thing in life which it isn't.
Oh, and by the way, I'm 23 years old now but when I was a around 2-3 years old I remember this music along with Public Enemy like it was yesterday. Hell, I even remember when I first saw New Jack City when I was around that age lol.
@exf20 I feel ya. Edan and Insight mixes sounds from the past and present giving them a unique sound. Tell me what you think of them when you get the chance.

This is tight! I think if anyone were ever to record a greatest rap song of all time, it would feature: Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Big L, Big Pun, KRS-One, Nas, and Biggie.
