@mike6206 What out, my 2005 CRD Caught on fire twice, transmission vent kicking fluid onto exhaust. Manufacture Defect, Chrysler not owning the problem yet! Just wait until some people burn up in the fire. My NHTSA case # is 10415294. Don't buy Chrysler products, especially DODGE but I'm starting to feel the same way about JEEP.
Need to get rid of the lawn mower in the back ground. It was hard to tell what was what at times....BTW what fuel mileage does it get in the city & hwy ? Anybody who has one please respond. I am thinking about buying one. Do tell the good bad, and the ugly. Thank's, yl
I have a 06 jeep liberty CRD with 70k on it running k&n and a Edge 3 stage chip works grate. and back pressure on the turbo does not wind it up. the waste gate closes the bypass to allow the compresser wheel to build pressure or boost , not the back pressure from the muffler . a diesel does not need a muffler, gas engines however need some back pressure to help cool the valves, and to stop valve floating .
back pressure is not needed on a turbo diesel. but has any body done any injector or turbo work on these??? or put a chip on one?? looking to get one for the girlfriend but i have this sickness that i can leave anything stock haha
No, not too bad. Just depends on what series of Flowmater Muffler you get. 50 series make a lower, more mellow tone while the 44's and 40's are louder.
@93hondaman Watch out you don't burn up in a fire in your CRD Liberty. I nearly did in my 2005 Liberty CRD, caught on fire twice. Transmission vent kicks fluid onto the exhaust and that's not the proper place for it! Even synthetic ATF +4 will roast and produce substantial flames, the kind that kill you.
i thought so, and i love flowmasters but they mess up cars with turbos because they drop the boost levels Straight pipe is much better for turbodiesels
I have to disagree because what I've found out that when i changed from the stock muffler to the Flowmaster, it perked the engine up and it runs more freely like the stock muffler was causing alot of backpressure, making "run with its nose plugged shut" so to speak. When they detuned the engine for the pressure plate and torque converter recall, it had to downshift if it ran a hill in windy conditions. Now I had wind tonight where it wouldv'e downshifted, but with the Flowmaster, no problem.
not all the time, you need backpressure to help spool the turbo, its pretty important to have atleast a resonator to create some backpresure on all diesels
No straight pipe! We have an annual vehicle safety inspection that is manditory on all cars and light trucks registered in PA and straight pipe exhausts are illegal!
I have another video of this sans lawnmower. It get between 18-24 MPG. I love mine!

Me too, but the only other thing I did is put a K&M direct replacement air filter element in it. It runs great for me as it is.

does the libety CRD have a turbo?
Domman56 2 years ago
Yes. All diesels nowadays have turbochargers.

Well of course flowmaster is better than stock but i'm just saying what's ideal for these diesels is straight pipe

Where ever you herd backpressure helps spool a turbo, or is ever a good thing on any engine, dont use them for advice.

For starters, diesel power magazine, the Ford diesel mechanics program+others. To much backpressure, is bad, but not enough isnt good either
