Really remind me of my last budgie. He was also extremely eager to get a taste of pretty much everything I was eating. I really adore their focused look they get when they are consuming their food! :) (But I didn't allow him to stand on my nose while I was eating... guess I was afraid of getting budgie poo in my food...)
I've watched all of Sven's videos now and he is just the best pet ever. he reminds me so much of the budgie i had as a child. same amazing vocabulary, same playfulness and same love of people food. i think that i might just have to get another budgie. was sven hand reared?
@snoogly Yes the young age you got him at coupled with him already being quite tame gave him a real head start in becoming "a member of the household". Of course he was probably a pretty social little guy at birth and you obviously spend a great deal of time with him. His speech is so clear and he seems to have the ability to mix and match the phrases together. A really intelligent little guy...how old is he now?
He's about 4 yrs 9 months old now. His mixing and matching of words and syllables is amazing. Most of what he says was 'created' by him. Recently he likes to say "Budgie's happy", "Budgie's happy to see you", and "Budgie's a birdie". The last one was the most surprising, as he put it together all by himself!
He can split words down into syllables, and loves shortening things to the shortest possible version.
His vocabulary is amazing..he can even change the emphasis on the syllables. I think that he might know EXACTLY what he is saying to you..lol
Truthfully..this little cutie has the ability to interact WITH you not AT you. A true friend indeed....BTW how about some new videos? I'd BE SO HAPPY to see them...
@pieface58 You are right! I am convinced he knows what he is saying, and is the master of stress. I promise to get more videos up soon! I really want to film him in the shower > but that means finding my waterproof video camera, and finding the right camera angle, so I don't show more (of myself) than I want to!
I'm thinking that he probably gets pretty vocal in the shower. The little guy i used to have used to join me every morning and loudly give me his thoughts on life then fly over the shower curtain to primp in front of the mirror. Had to boot him out while i used the blow dryer though...he preffered to air dry....
But anyways, He looked so disappointed when you finished your last bite of the first piece around 1 minute into the vid. It was so cute, like "Oh yummy!...heyyy..." :)
So in the morning at least we are spared the alcoholic beverages! Sven sure enjoys his breakfast to the fullest. It is really a habit of his to perch on your nose: I find that very uncomfortable and would have discouraged it from the start. I guess it's too late for you to do anything about it now!
This brings back such memories! My budgie used to do this with my mom every day without fail. She used to sit down with her toast and say,"want some?" and he'd come flying over to share breakfast with mama. So cute!
thieving budgie!

Yes, he was hand-reared, which made all the difference, I think. I forgot exactly how old he was when I got him. 3 weeks maybe, or 4 weeks.
