bug. my girlfreind just broke up with me maybe ill sit on this green couch plant sniff aww thats so sad . fly who was that! plant oh dont worry its a birthday for my um cousin traperlica. fly am i invited!? plant. yep come on back in. fly wait wheres traperlica your cousin? plant oh her she will be here. fly ok chomp fly ahhhhhhhhhhhh can i attleast have cake or a dounut or candy?
Thanks for the tip. However, my home is generally free of those pesky critters. It is just every once in a blue moon that a fly wizzes in the door along with a guest. I think washing the saucer and changing the water in the saucer daily is a good practice. It is only there to assure that the plant gets enough moisture anyway. Otherwise, I generally hunt the nasty little critter down and swat it. But, thanks again.
Most likely, because of a sudden drop of nutrients around the plant, the ones which had a mutation of secreting digestive enzymes on the leaf would have survived, like the other CP.
Over millions of years, more mutations would have created better and better traps for catching insects, such as the opened leaf, the trigger hairs, more powerful acids/traps, and teeth for a watertight seal. Because it was an advantage, the flytraps with the best of these would have been most likely to reproduce.
yeah, I saw the fly buzzing around the house one day and stunned him by hitting him with a rolled up newspaper. Little did he know that things were about to get much worse...

Well, this video was from 5 years ago so if it makes you feel better, the house fly would have been dead anyway.

Aside from the fact that I love plants, this is the reason that I have got to get a venus fly-trap this coming summer. I hate flies!
Gr8Teaist 2 years ago
@Gr8Teaist actually, they are ineficent at fly extermination. and the saucer of water you keep underneath means good breeding for flies.

these dont seem to last long.
ChicanoTattooArt 2 years ago
What? The plant? They can last for 500 years! Cause they reproduce themselves without pollination.

will venus fly trap eat a dead fly?
l0rves 3 years ago
Yes, it's in fact triggered by movement however, so you will have to move the fly a bit.
