He was one of the unfortunately few "voices" out there in the world with amazing insight and honest heart channeled through outstanding musical expression! He was one of the few that I had most wanted to meet and share music with.He was (and is) a musical-and-otherwise brother of the soul to me,and I miss him greatly.
Three years ago today, the world lost that voice...But Dan left behind a "Living Legacy" that will continue throughout the days of my own life, to the end of days.
We miss you Dan,your songs will always be remembered with deep fondness and respect in our hearts. What a great artist you are..I hope you can hear this up there.
I've never heard a bad Dan Fogelberg song and this is no exception. Love your music, Dan and am going to miss you. Thankfully we have your music. God bess you.
"Lucky in love , well maybe so. There's still a lot of things you'll never know..." So true. To paraphrase another of your songs Dan , "Oooh ooh , we're missing you." R.I.P.
an excellent songwriter, always great lyrical content, had a really unique vocal style. Whether you like the style of his music or not, his talent was truly undeniable. Great post!
I was lucky enough to have seen him once in concert. He was one of the very best singer/songwriters in my lifetime! A musician`s musician! Thank you, Dan, for sharing your soul with us, R.I.P
Sure...I grew up in the age of the Beatles, Elvis, and the Stones......and loved em all.................But Fogelberg and James Taylor were truly a part of who I am.
His wife will be releasing a CD of new songs from Dan on his birthday August 13, 2009...so just because he is gone does not mean he is done...he had many many years of archieves...and there will be more as time goes by. Thanks Jean!! Thanks VMstrider for this video...it is much loved!!
...old times, fresh tears. memory comes to life, cutting my heart like a dull jagged knife...men aren't supposed to cry,but can't win this battle of emotion...I have yet to touch the depths of the ocean... a world that only her and I occupy, and are free to cry...tears that only serve to make mud of dirt...vacant frowning eyes from whence resides my hurt...the lie,the myth the final truth we're left with.
Gosh, I remember contacting Soundstage right after this concert on PBS - asking them if this was available on DVD for purchase. It's really a shame. They recorded several other of their concerts on DVD--but why not Dan Fogelberg? I begged them - said it would sell very well. He was a blessing to the music industry and to his millions of his fans. I just love his music. Rest in eternal peace, sir. You are indeed missed.
Well, it just might be released on DVD after all. According to an article I read recently, an Austrailian company called Liberator has acquired the rights to the Soundstage series. They said the first few DVD releases are scheduled for this July. You can read about it here: undercover(dot)com(dot)au(slash)News-Story(dot)aspx?id=4861
Oh my goodness! Thank you for providing that link. I will read the story. This is ironic, because I just sent Soundstage an email a few days ago again expressing disappointment for the Dan Fogelberg fans because it was such a great concert. You made my week! Thanks for responding!
I miss him every day... he was the light in my dark world... being disbled with CP can make life hard... With Dan on my CD player, my life is a lot brighter... I will love him FOREVER....
I was home alone, sound asleep, on Sunday morning around 1-1:30. Something woke me up and I turned on the tv. It was on PBS and there was Dan singing to me!! Very strange because I KNOW it wasn't on PBS when I fell asleep! Anyway, I cried my way thru this show for the fourth time. How I miss him! God bless you, Dan!
Does anyone find that it is still hard to grasp that Dan is gone? Does God take his angels at times very early? How could Dan not be an angel. Has anyone seen or have Dan's published book of his travels called Photographs? How nice it is?
The new song Dan wrote for his wife Jean, called "Sometimes A Song", will be released this week, Feb 12th. All proceeds from the song are being donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. For more information, visit Dan's website at DanFogelberg(dot)com and click on the News page.
Hey formb0 - Loved your video. I tried to leave a comment, but it wouldn't take. Anyway, nice playing on your part. But of course, you must know your son stole the show! He really does carry the tune well, and has a nice voice. Sounds like the two of you sing together often, and really enjoy it. Hope he's learning guitar too. Really nice to see Dan's music passed on. Would love to hear more. Thanks for sharing your guitar work.
There will never be another Dan just like never be another Elvis two of a kind~~ They left us with the most beautiful songs ~~~

Jean spread his ashes out over the inlet on Wednesday while sailing...
as this was his wish. They glowed in the sunlight blowing gently across the waters. She said that it was the
first nice day in several weeks of rain and cold...and floods that Maine is having.
This (13th)was his birthday.
She sent out a picture of the sunset that night....
