They should have bought more of these for Iraq and Afghanistan. They would easily take casualties in the rear hatch. Take gun fire way better than Humvees. They could go after people setting up ambushes.
I luv in the video how they take one or two wheels out and it performs fine...4 flat tires? no problem. Probably 5x more expensive than a humvee.
they build these in London Ontario, just down the road from where I work.. I love it when they take these out for a road test and you get behind one in traffic. Amazing piece of machinery
remember people, logistics wins wars, not performance... germany had the best of just about everything in ww2, but they couldnt make enough of it to get around... the russians and english were not as good technolically, but they had larger logistical bases, for example, the tiger tank kicked ass, but germany built less then 2000, america and russia built over 50 000 shermans and t-34s each..

@Superchickenman159 to show its flexibility... i heard of one in afghanistan being hit by a IED and driving over 20km back to base in with the back quarter of the vehicle blown off and 4 wheels destroyed.. this way the vehicle can sustain damage to the drive system and still get away but if a tracked vehicle loses a link or drive wheel, it mobility is killed and it becomes a sitting duck, one of the advantages of this type of vehicle and one of the reasons canadian forces uses so many of them
it is not about use, its about expense. While the US invests in heavy armor, everyone in NATO invests in light armor as they know they can borrow from US. Yeaper, taxpayers $ at work.

NATO does not have to invest heavy in heavy armor - for what, they can borrow US equipment or depend/rely on US intervention. As of late, the French and the Germans are working together to break that monopoly, much like Some of South America countires.

this is wierd, its the canadian LAVs but the uniforms are definately not cadpat and the roadway that they were testing it on had chinese signage. LAVs are the GD version of the old MOWAG, basically a very modified version but the base chassis is still the same. same goes for the american stryker
no, its made by general dynamics, the original design was a 6 wheeled AVGP made around 1967. The hull of this LAV3 is based off of the same design, of course upgraded.

MOWAG, not MOVAG, is/was a swiss company that produced vehicles the CF liked enough that the Canadian government sponsored the purchase of the company. Following this, Canadian engineers refitted all the old designs to NA standards (imperial vs metric), and have since developed the LAV 25 and LAV 3 vehicle families independently off the swiss branch. Of course there is information sharing between the NA arm and euro arm, which is why the designs are still simililar.

First of all, the Euro-versions of the vehicle don't run on a Detroit diesel engine or an Allison tranny, ours do. That's the single biggest north-Americanism right there.

And lastly, because of the north American engine, alot of the parts used in the vehicle ARE measured in imperial, and not metric.

no, its made by general dynamics, the original design was a 6 wheeled AVGP made around 1967. The hull of this LAV3 is based off of the same design, of course upgraded.

MOWAG, not MOVAG, is/was a swiss company that produced vehicles the CF liked enough that the Canadian government sponsored the purchase of the company. Following this, Canadian engineers refitted all the old designs to NA standards (imperial vs metric), and have since developed the LAV 25 and LAV 3 vehicle families independently off the swiss branch. Of course there is information sharing between the NA arm and euro arm, which is why the designs are still simililar.

First of all, the Euro-versions of the vehicle don't run on a Detroit diesel engine or an Allison tranny, ours do. That's the single biggest north-Americanism right there.
Weapons systems are the next stark feature between vehicle families.
And lastly, because of the north American engine, alot of the parts used in the vehicle ARE measured in imperial, and not metric.

Boxer does have the advantage of being lighter, but in the Canadian forces we treasure survivability, and it is possible to mount much bigger guns on Coyote.

This vehicle is nothing special, russian BTR can drive with only 3 wheels out of 8. Any 3, only 1 on one side and 2 on the other. And it can turn on the spot, without having to move
