Hi firedawn2u, God Bless, here's the thing. We CAN choose who we vote for ,but that is really where our choices end. Once in office, our "representatives" are hounded by lobbyists who pay them to vote certain ways on bills most Americans don't know anything about and in some cases CAN'T know anything about. The "people" of the country don't get to vote on issues themselves. Also the people who are put on the ballet are pre-approved by the people already in power and THEN we get to choose.

Reps and Senators do pass laws, but the trouble with "laws" is that they don't solve problems. Speed-limits don't stop speeding, DWI and DUI laws don't stop drunk driving, assault laws don't stop rape or murder. If they wanted to stop speeding and drunk driving they would mandate speed-governors and breathalyzers to be installed in every car sold in the U.S. they way they did with seat-belts. (And don't get me started on The "Federal" Reserve, just youtube search it and find out for yourself.)
