What needs to happen is the top 8 conference champs compete in a playoff. And if a conference champ goes undefeated, they are automatically in the playoff regardless of what their conference is. The fruity bowl games can be played before the playoff starts. This way i think is the best way to crown a true championship. The BCS has to go.
The BCS is bull shit you can like the BCS because your stupid ass texas longhorns are a BCS school. Utah went undefeated and they didn't get anything! The BCS is shit.
Listening to arguments, and recognizing that a lot of people want a play-off, I'm willing to entertain the idea. Your 8 team playoff sounds reasonable, but it should start earlier than January, and, like Lou Holtz said, should be held at home stadiums. Let it be like the NFL, where teams have to play in the cold. That's probably my last hold-out, and I'm sure there will be a playoff soon because so many of the public sports figures want one.
I'm offended by your decided bias when making this video. You wore clothing that would not show Texas and you filmed without your flag behind you. The whole thing comes off a bit sarcastic. Taking this video seriously would be like watching the Colbert Report as an accurate representation of the conservative viewpoint.
There are some points you made with this video that are right, but if there was a playoff, and the top 8 teams were involved, then they WOULD have to care about the regular season. The difference with the NFL is the NFL includes the the winners of crappy divisions. There wouldn't be inclusion for crappy conference winners in a college playoff. The Top 8 would still be teams that everyone wants to see, and I would think it should be the Top 10, for teams like TCU, BYU or Utah to catch a break.
I agree with this on all points, but interesting thing to think about: most fans want the playoff system, most PLAYERS want the BCS system. Shouldn't that about do it right there? Can't we just see beyond our wanting a thrill or a good time and give these guys what THEY want? If I was most of these guys, I'd want the bowl system too: it's more of a unique experience where you get to play (enjoy the city, get cool gifts, etc.). A playoff system tarnishes that.
Pac 10 undefeated in Bowls. Big 12 South 1-3, with Texas winning by a last second score and massive 3 points over a Ohio State team USC beat by 3 touchdowns.
It indeed does provide one of the best regular seasons EVER. Playoffs sound attractive, BUT of course a great team can have an off day. IF there will be a playoff AT ALL you need the top 8 teams. No more. If less, then 4 teams. Utah had the greatest argument possible. USC had the 2nd best argument with Texas VERY shortly behind. In this case, I think they actually got it right. This is unbiased. Oklahoma is a record breaking team. Florida is just greatly balanced with stars everywhere.
Sorry, I totally forgot. You do make good points there, but I'm still neutral. The bowl games are fun to watch. And it is more likely that the best team will win the championship. I can't wait to see what happens next year. I predict Florida vs. Texas for the National Championship. Oklahoma will choke again. They just can't seem to win big games.
the bcs always putting ou in the bcs bowl just because they think there good but they really aint when they go2the bcs every year, lose, auburn could have put up a better fight then ou,in 2007 ohio state didnt do crap against florida gators, ohio state didnt play anybody except michigan, they got blew out by usc
i like what cowboytd said about the tradition of the bowls... thats very true.. but with a plus 1 system... u could keep the bowl tradition and even add another game IF THEY WANT TO. which doesnt mean they have to. but they need to make the bowl games fair like utah vs texas, penn state vs. usc (which they did) and florida vs. OU and maybe a bama vs texas tech game... those would be good because they are all fair game. texas plays florida in the national championship game and its mccoy vs tebow.
Before watching this video I was pro playoff system. But now I realize that the BCS is sometimes bs but is more often than not a better system. One thing I do feel should be changed is the fact that a teams preseason ranking affects their computer rankings for the entire season, not by much but it still does a little bit.
I like how you change roles and go as a Pro BCS. Very good points, some I put out but as I said you will hear many of the same arguments. I put up my part 2, go check it out
Sorry, gotta disagree. The BCS is wrong on a consistent basis. It's always going to be debatable. What needs to happen is all the "bullshit", like OU's PAST "Glory" making them a popular team, needs to go! There's too much bullshit. That's why an undefeated Utah team wasn't in the NC game. Who knows if they would've lost to Florida, who knows if they would've lost, bottom line, they went undefeated & beat Alabama who gave Florida a good, hard fought game. I'm against the BCS. Consistently WRONG!
I haven't thought about how people only watch March Madness, it makes me think having a Playoff in football would be bad. Because we might not care about the Reg. Season. Even though my team did get scewed this year, it makes it more interesting
You said that the Arizona Cardinals in the superbowl is the equivalence of Virginia Tech being in the National Championship and asked if they deserved it? Well if Virginia Tech beats Penn State, Alabama and USC to get there yes they do deserve it. A playoff system will give every team a shot and avoid controversy. Arizona didnt deserve to be in the playoffs and they came within 2 minutes of winning it all. That's what football is. As the saying goes, on any given sunday(or in this case saturday)
2014: Roger Goodell cancels the super bowl and institutes a bowl system. The #1 Dallas Cowboys plays the #5 Sacramento Jaguars in the Pace Cactus Bowl.
Dallas wins. But the biased pollsters decide to instead give #2 Pittsburgh Steelers a national championship. A major controversy ensues.
CowboyTD, man you are good at presenting a side I know you are against. You brought up good points. I believe the playoffs would be better at finding the best team. That is not always the case as you stated some years there will be upsets but mostly the best teams will have a better chance of proving themselves. The BCS rates teams based on strength of schedule. That's crap because Your Longhorns went on the toughest 4 game stretch in College Football and in the end the BCS ripped them off.
What needs to happen is the top 8 conference champs compete in a playoff. And if a conference champ goes undefeated, they are automatically in the playoff regardless of what their conference is. The fruity bowl games can be played before the playoff starts. This way i think is the best way to crown a true championship. The BCS has to go.

you have to look at the exact opposite of everything your saying...
Basically what your saying is the Texas', the Oklahoma's, the Florida's are going to be in the championship every year....
Witch would give everyone else in the nation no reason to try to make the national championship
I did not like this video everything you think i think the exact opposite... but i guess thats y there called oppinions

Do these sounds right? In NCAA Football:
Power Conferences: Big 12, SEC
Big Conferences: Pac 10, Big 10
Good Conferences: ACC, Big East
Almosts: Mountain West, WAC
In NCAA Basketball:
Power Conferences: Big East, ACC
Big Conferences: Big 12, SEC
Good Conferences: Pac 10, Big 10
Almosts: Mountain West, Atlantic 10

the BCS is fine but just need some adjustments..... like
only if there is a 3 way tie like this year in the big 12
those 3 teams play each other and that decides the 2 teams to go to the bcs

i agree with you on this point the BCS provides the best team as the champion, most of the time.
now do you agree with the bcs automaticly bidding the acc of big east over mwc?
i like the system not the bids
USC always looks good loses a stupid game then kicks the crap out of the big 10 team.
i think the bids should be mixed up

The BCS for right now is better than the old system where back in the old days was this
Rose Bowl: Pac10 v. Big 10 (Still true to this day)
Sugar Bowl(SECv. Big East)
Orange Bowl(ACCv. Big 8 now Big 12)
Fiesta Bowl(A mixture of Big 8 now Big 12 v. Big 10 or Big East)
Cotton Bowl(SWC now Big 12 v. SEC)
The other conferences like Conference USA, Mountain West, WAC those conferences couldn't even get teams in those games back in and now today they can.
This what it used to be and other
