you are right the quality of the sound is not worth the price of the instrument. forget gem digital pianos: thAt's real craP!! try to compare a Yamaha or Kawai ... you will be more satisfied.
It's much better than Pianoteq, but the only sound close to an acoustic grand is the "all silver" mode. All the other modes sound very far from an acoustic. I don't understand why they claim that the Vintage 1 mode is supposed to sound like a Steinway, I mean, are you nuts??
I Know Roland is working with something like this for a new ARX expansion for the Fantom G. The ARX expansion is based on simulation, NOT samples. For example the ARX -03.
very nice keyboard but people realy need the same sample as in the roland rd1000s or roland mks-20 in these nowadays keyboards aswell or on a expansion board.
MKS-20 would've been golden in my books if I was able to select patches at the same time. Well it's still a wicked module that not many are lucky to have.
My view on the OASYS and on Korg's business practices are speculation based on the fact the Korg is no longer shipping these units. The retailers I know have all said that the OASYS has been discontinued yet official confirmation or denial has not been received from Korg yet.
You are not going to get a straight answer from anyone at Korg right now. They are scrambling to keep the folks like you happy.
Stephen Kay get's paid big bucks to keep you smiling!
The Korg Oasys can't be compared to the V-Piano. They are two very different instruments for very different purposes. The keybed in the Oasys is a toy compared to the escapement equipped PHA III graded hammer action of the V-Piano. Korg's piano patches don't touch the realism of the V-Pianos.
The Oasys is a cool instrument, but it should cost $3500. I think it's already been dropped by Korg and is gaining the reputation as a failed project for them.
Sounds great, but whats the point in spending thousands of dollars to buy a digital piano when you can buy a great real acoustic piano with that money?
Because you can't really gig with an acoustic piano unless you have a van and roadies. Plus when you're at home you can't turn an acoustic piano down or plug in headphones. Easy to record at home as well without the expense of quality mics. I'd love to have an acoustic piano, and one day I hope I will, but until then digital piano's for me. Although I wouldn't get this one!... read my other comment below.
I totally agree with you if you do gigs, but for playing at home with 6 thousand dollars i can buy a really good acoustic piano with a silent system on it (to play with headphones and maybe recording something aswell). Its just me btw ;) nothing against digital pianos ofc, i like them, i just think sometime they are a little too expensive.
Can't wait to try one out. But I do wonder whether the amount of utilities is a bit over the top. I thought you'd be able to manipulate the sound to create really interesting timbres and manipulate the sounds of instruments like the Rhodes and Wurly etc.
For a piano sound, in my opinion you can't beat the Yamaha CP300. I didn't like the action on the Nord Stage. I've never really liked Roland for piano sounds, the only Roland thing I'll be buying for a while is their new keytar! haha! woo!
I've just watched the 4-part video from Roland here on YouTube. I think what's missing in the V-Piano is the possibility to add different new "piano types" (for example via "COSM Expansion Boards" or something) like Yamaha CP-80, Fender Rhodes or Hohner Clavinet. But what I like about the V-Piano is the look (just like the good old RD-1000).
Sorry, I've given COSM many chances. Starting all the way back to the 1st VG synth. It was cool for a couple years. Jimmy Page & James Taylor even used one! Then came along the VSTI revolution! Face it ROLAND/BOSS whatever the hell you guys are calling yourselves these days, Synthogy and other companies like it have you owned when it comes to recreating the piano. Stick to edrums and you guys wont have to suffer the embarrassment Johnson did in the late 90's.

listen to other v-piano videos on youtube. so u will be convinced of the bad quality even more...

The piano in Fantom X8 is based on samples. The V-Piano is based on simulation... so you can't really compare those two.
Yes, I know the Fantom piano sound, it's also on my Rd-700SX... and I don't like that either...

Try painoteq. Been around for 3-4 years. Epic FAiL Roland.

I disagree. Pianoteq is a disgrace. I don't know how you could even compare the two.

Hey man~ pianoteq also good vsti ...

pianotteq sounds so bad compared to this modeling. almost every sampled solution out there beats pianoteq. (synthogy user here.)

Unfortunately it sounds better in demo presentation on Roland's website than in a live performance, but that refers to most digital pianos.

Yeah... the price of this is way over the top! And its features, in my opinion don't warrant paying that much.
RabsKeys 3 years ago
Maybe beacause it is compact plus it can be plugged for recording and doesn't need to be taken by mic(s).

Visit Pianoteq website. Search Pianoteq on Google.

Thanks for your information! :-) The pianoteq VST instrument has at least a wonderful sounding CP-80 add-on.

Sounds alright, tho I have heard better VSTi's. But in all fairness the poor sound quality of youtube videos makes it hard to judge.
