  • John's detractors should listen to his 12-string playing in this video. Wow.

  • Whoops! Sorry about earlier post. Thought that was Annie. Apology to everyone.

  • Precious of you, Annie, John. Thanks so much for sharing such private/fun moments! The fun y'all were having. Can't imagine what a sweet beginning y'all had together. Wonderful.

  • sad...he never made it 64

  • His playing is really on the mark, what a guitarist not to mention his vocal ability, great !

  • Far out!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

  • This is historic footage. This is surely some of the earliest footage of JD hanging out in nature & in private. It should be restored & part of John's exhibit at the Colo Music Hall of Fame..Thank you so much for sharing.

  • The woman is his high school sweetheart, my stepmother. He had just married Annie earlier that year. They lived in Edina MN and John was touring midwest colleges. See his story on my Boxes In The Attic blog.

  • What a great video!!! He was a baby back then....Who was the girl....It certainly wasn't Annie!!!

  • this is great what a rare find jd is my idol do u have any more jd stuff like this if so can u please post them thanks in advance if u can

  • This is December 1968. Peter Paul and Mary recorded "Leaving on a Jet Plane" in 1967 for Album 1700 but didn't release the single until late 1969, the same year Denver recorded it on Rhymes & Reasons. The Peter Paul and Mary cover topped the charts December 20, 1969, the second to last single to hit #1 in the Sixties.

  • @tacomacooper Okay well I guess technically I was one month off for when this was filmed since I guessed '69 or '70!! I did know the songwas written before JD married.but didn't know the dual dates of recording and releasing it.

Do you have any idea who filmed this or who the yg woman in the film is- just curious. Thx for the extra info. How did you come across this footage??

  • This is indeed quite rare!! Thanks for posting it. I am guessing however that this is probably from around '69 or '70 since he is wearing a wedding ring and was married in '67. JD wrote "Jet Plane" in '66 before he married Annie and it became a hit in '68 when Peter, Paul, & Mary released it.
