  • her expression and feeling are superb, along with superb technique, leaving Berezovsky and Thibaudet in the shade.

  • better than Berezovsky..This young lady owns this Ravel masterpiece.

  • it has always been my dream to learn this :D

  • this is an outstanding interpretation, she sublimes every part of the rythm to deliver the melodic atmosphere at its optimal pace and emphasis

  • Of all the interpretations I've heard on youtube, she is second only to Richter. But I mean c'mon its Richter. Chenyin Li's is much more playful, and probably shouldn't even try to compare the two.

  • Oh my god she totally understands Ravel here - strong emphasis on rhythmic colour and shaping, clarity.. I am stunned by her playing.

  • shit, this is awesome

  • totally blew my mind.

  • my congratulations!! The piece is so spanisch!

  • I bet no one clapped cause she was playing the entire 5 movement Memoirs, and this is only the 4th movement

  • overall, she captures the capriciousness of the piece very well through her dynamics and phrasing. and her technique is excellent. however, i feel she could've been a little more expressive and lenient with the tempo in the slow passages...especially in the descending rolled chords at 3:35 and 4:25.

but all in all great job!! best interp i've heard on youtube!

  • clap clap clap ... bravooo!

  • I watched this twice, and was definitely amazed that she's got profound interpretation of Ravel's music ;)

  • how 3 people could not like this i do not know. they either missed the button or they are deaf...

  • This is AWESOME.

  • About a year ago, seeing this video was the first time I'd ever heard this piece... I'm really glad I got to hear this amazing interpretation first, rather than some of the other crapola that's on youtube... Great Job :D

  • joder la tia como toca!!! que cancion mas chulaa

  • This version is my favourite out of all of them on Youtube! I keep coming back to this video... simply wonderful!

  • nice job. I think some areas were rushed a little bit too much, but bravo for a live performance. I"m working on this for graduate school auditions in two weeks.

  • Parts of this are difficult; there are many more technically demanding pieces though.

  • good job!!!!

  • i really love this version

  • slug182 we're not meant to clap in between movements, unless the performer plays a single movement from the whole piece. However, I agree with clap clap BRAVO!

  • 4 thumbs up!

  • Exactly what part of this piece is "fiendishly difficult" ? Because after 1:43 (the end of the first part), the pace slows down considerably..

  • @mozart20dlubos The first and last 2 minutes of this are enough to call it very difficult. No amateur would attempt to play this.

It's not on par with scarbo though.

  • @mozart20dlubos you haven't played this, have you?

  • @solveaproblem Have you ??

  • @angela1894

Yes. I remember for a while, all I ever did at a new piano was test its action for repeated notes, ha!

  • @mozart20dlubos The piece sounds hard to play, but when I got the music I sightread through it and for the first few lines I thought "Oh goody! This isn't as hard as I thought!" Then it got really hard....and then after (an hour of) getting through the whole thing, I listened to the video again and nearly passed out. lol

  • She is not good enough... she performs this pièce with force but without feeling, she is not feeling the music... so bad that for a musician.

  • @phonaxis87 Who are you to judge that she has no feeling ?

  • @mozart20dlubos it is better not to find it.

  • @phonaxis87 so many youtube musical geniuses. your criticism is based upon nothing.

  • most beautifull!!!!

  • Her versatile tone color shows real mastery.she makes it more interesting than just one piano sounds like bells, tambourines, drums. She's got a lot of touches & attacks.Great playing!

  • has been called one of the most difficult pieces of all time.

  • Nice playing bad recording :(

  • Bravo ~

  • very like it !brovo!

  • Also, I find that the tempo is a little metronomic for me. Considering how clearly technically proficient she is, I wish she would take a little more time and be more generally "playful" with the many fun moments in the piece.

  • @JFman00 i agree... it does somund like she playing to a metronome.... and it is suppose to depict a clownish behaviour

  • The technique is awesome but I think the whole piece is played too loud and raw. This is supposed to be Spanish style "guitar music" but the pianiast's exaggerated dynamics make it sound like Prokofiev

  • @jamiemanners I couldn't agree more. The title literally translates to "Morning Song of the Jester" (or more specifically, Aubade of the Jester). I understand she's going for a classical guitar kinda style, but not all classical guitar is sharp and percussive.

  • i love 0:29 1:00

  • 0:15 the most brilliant piece i've ever heard!!!

  • @Bruno648

EXACTLY!!! its the most beautiful piece that ever came across my ears!!!

  • @Bruno648 Me too....I want to learn this song just because of that part....sheet music...i couldn't possibly imagine earing this....

  • The ending is spectacular, I've never seen something like that.

  • why even say your age? what's with people saying how old they were when they played these pieces? just enjoy the music

  • Don't worry. I'm sure she couldn't play it when she was 12. It's good to have a goal, anyway. You can work up to this piece.

  • A brilliant playing. Absolutely Fantastic and robust!!

  • wow, it's so good that I can't even imagine. From 0 to 10, I'll give 11 points.

    PERFECTION is the word. Bravo!!

  • EXCELLENT - full of verve, punch and character. Just a trifle on the heavy side, however. It should effervesce like the finest Champagne.

If only I'd never heard Lipatti to whom, I fear, NO ONE will ever favorably compare!

  • i have to say i really like this interpretation. if only more people would play like this.....

  • Thank you that much for this excellent interpretation.

    I am affectionately impressed.

  • the best performance i've ever seen!!! 10000/5

  • Ending after sec arpeggio and big pause .. is nearly perfect in all details.. and very exciting.. really played this well .. what could be better? go absolutely nuts with the final 4 measures like Richter.. that leaves one with goosebumps

  • Oh my God no one claped?? I will

clap clap clap clap BRAVOO BBRAVOOO UUUHUHUUULLL YEAHHHHH YOU GO CHINESE GIRLL

  • @slug182 Does nationality have anything to do with the quality of the performance? I don't think so.

  • @genxdarkangel He wasn't implying that it does. She is both Chinese and a woman so he can applaud her as such.

  • @genxdarkangel No, however the reason why you see so many asians in music is because in Asia (especially China) parents are very emphatic about music, especially piano and violin. They also tend to discipline their children in the art quite strictly.

  • @slug182 No one clapped because she was probably playing the entire Miroirs suite. This is a segment part of that suite, so they probably did clap...at the end of the entire piece though. :)

  • @slug182 It might be because this is not the last piece of the whole suite. She looked like she wasn't finished when this video was over, maybe she played the last piece (part 5), then people clap after.

  • woow!! i really enjoyed it =)

  • this is mad!

    awesome ^^

  • Kind of a ridiculous comment, if you've ever listened to the orchestrated version, you'd know the way ravel wanted certain inflections tackled on the piano, which most pianists (even the masters) don't hit. This performance comes pretty damn close. Try listening to a good orchestral version, Rotterdam Philharmonic has an excellent version on YouTube. Try not to be so ignorant.

  • I really enjoyed your performance. A great deal of energy and pulse.

  • 后面弹得超赞!

  • 谱子不同还是弹错了??有几处怪怪的

  • she's like knitting and knotting..

  • Manuel de Falla y Maurice Ravel ¡los mejores!

    ¡Viva España!

  • This is a really great performance.

  • undeniably great talent.

  • can anyone tell me how to do the glissando with the two notes?

  • well once you have the right technique its pretty simple. my coach told me to practice it with the two fingers just gliding across the keys not actually playing (but playing the top and bottom notes). once the left hand is fluid and you feel confident add the right hand. use fingers 2 and 4 on the way up and fingers 1 and 3 on the way down.

  • Sounds like she's gonna break the piano in two at times

  • who's that grandma playing the piano

  • This is more detailish. George's is more expressive.

    Both are wonderful!

  • She's not that good compared to George's!!

  • Expressive, technically sound, and not at all "hysterical" performance of this piece.

  • the video quality wasn't as good as i hoped, but it was amazing!!!
