  • I wish I had been able to make music like this for my digital sound project.

  • @TomHopeful Hey.

    What was your project?

  • @Zir0x01 Ah, it was a project where we had to make music from our own body. We were to record sounds, process them and turn them into a song.

    It was fun but my song turned out absolutely horrible. :/

  • The ending and Fire Emblem, beautiful... *0*

  • @BoyneMaiden I don't sell these songs themselves. However, my game, Blast Force, was sponsored, and it used music that I composed.

    Thanks.

  • Hey BoyneMaiden.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Ah, I wasn't saying you were deceiving, but the looks can be deceiving. Kinda like judging a book by its cover if you know that idiom.

    - Ziro out.

  • @BoyneMaiden Thanks, but what makes you think I'm using 98 or 95? Looks can be deceiving.

    Furthermore, why not focus on the main subject (the music), rather than criticizing the software I'm using, hmm? (:

    Also, this movie was submitted back on 2008, and who's to say how long I've actually had the tracker song on my computer before uploading it to YouTube?

    Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, let alone irrelevant ones. (:

  • Hey.

    @southparkruler958

    RPGs often tell a story, usually of many different characters and situations, using music that fits whatever the authors are trying to convey. So to say that this is nowhere (not "were") near an RPG just tells us that you don't know what an RPG is.

    Furthermore, mentioning Zelda or Pokemon is a moot point.

    But I digress, as your comment does not state anything constructive about the composition of the song, rather than what genre you think it isn't.

    - Ziro out.

  • @Zir0x01 I quite like it. Brings back the old pokemon Blue days. Ahhhh so peaceful =)

  • @southparkruler958

    are you stupid or something?! oO

    his music is from Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem - BOTH RPGs

    Zelda and Pokemon - too, BOTH RPGs !

    WTF and Zelda isn't shit! music is epic and his own track is good, too!

    keep up the good work @Zir0x01

  • awesome music!!!

    must have been a pain in the ass to track all that...

  • Hey.

    Thanks.

    Heh! Nah, it wasn't a pain, although it took a while.

    - Ziro out.

  • Did you use the sound files that came with mpt or did you use different ones?

  • Hey.

    Some are the standard sounds, but most are different.

  • so can u make 8-bit music with this?

  • Hey.

    @youyouyouguy - Yes, you can. You'd need to find some samples that sound like square waves, triangle waves, and noise.

  • nice :)

    has a very old-school JRPG vibe to it

  • Great song

  • @splitka1996

    Thanks.

  • Last part reminds me of Contact. Nice work!

  • 1:58 The best tune of them all ;). Could be used as a battle tune.

  • anyone knows how to uninstall mptrack???

  • Hey.

    Ruiso1, I think you can just delete the files. I don't think the tracker does anything special when it installs.

  • Very nice!

  • Hey.

    Thank you. (-:

  • Brilliant song! If you can be arsed, then I have a couple of Modplug songs on my myspace page. Just search for Cate Crow and you'll find me there. You might just like it... or maybe not, it's a little mad :)

  • Hey.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried to comment on your tunes on your MySpace page on your YouTube channel, but it kept returning an error, so I sent you a PM.

  • Thanx moejoe1337!

  • Hi!

    What operating system is that??

    If it's windows please send me that beatiful skin!!

    (How did you set up that theme,???)

    Great songs anyway!

    Thnx.

  • You can configure the colors under Setup -> Colors. Just use a graphics program that has a "pipette" option, take a screenshot of this video playing and pick the colors from the video. The next version of OpenMPT will have shareable color schemes.

  • i love Fire Emblem

  • Wow, thats quite good >.> First I thought it was off of the old Sim City xD.

  • FINAL FANTASY 1

  • Yep. You're correct, as the first song is from Final Fantasy 1.

  • your own tune looks like a metal slug song!

  • :-)

  • .This is from Final Fantasy 1 or 2 , I can't remember.

  • Hey.

    The first part is from Final Fantasy 1. The other parts, as well as this one, are all documented in the description.

  • Hey.

    NitroMani0 - Thank you. (-:

    professorY91 - Good eye. I recently switched to OpenMPT. I do miss the help file that came with ModPlug. OpenMPT doesn't seem to have quick access to a .HLP file, as I have to go to the we when I want to look something up.

  • An older version of ModPlug Tracker... you dont use the OpenMPT build. I think, however, that only contributed to the quality of the song. Very nicely done.

  • you are cooool!

  • Hey.

    dranox12 - Thanks for answering the4andfollowers' question for me.

    QuadUnit, killbarney64 and hyochan - Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the tune.

    PericlesRA - Thanks for the comment. Although, I wouldn't say it's perfect by no means. Actually, I have been working on the tune, and have removed some of the "rough edges". Subtle changes, most probably wouldn't notice them.

    Gos2 - Hello, again. ;-)

    I just keep practicing, that's all.

  • wow... just wow.... how can you get to this level of music...

  • Guy....it's the most amazing song i've ever heard...

  • *much more than perfect

  • *done

  • Sounds great ^^ Well dome

  • beautifull

  • Hey.

    To everyone: Thanks for all your compliments, soldiers. 'Preciate that. :-|

    Hope you all enjoy listening as much as I do writing/composing.

    However, I must apologize :-( ...

  • Hey.

    Looks like no one ever inquired on why I am apologizing... :-P

    One: the sound quality sucks. Although this video is really just to illustrate what the tracker is capable of.

    Two: I wish you could "update" movies. You know, when you make changes to a video, you can replace the current one with a new one, and retain all the comments, view, etc.

    Oh, well... :-\

  • Excellent use of vibrato really makes this music feel alive. Great job!

  • is modplug free or do you have to pay for it?

  • it's free

  • wow...you did a really great job re creating the songs from ff and fire emblem. All three tunes (in my opinion) were very well composed, this is a great example of what modplug is capable of.

    I just started with modplug, and this is a great set of music to learn from!

  • PRO !!!! DUED UR GOOD!!!!

  • SO PRO MAN

  • old version plx ;>

  • Hey.

    mads18 - Hello, there.

    Be that as it may, it's not the size the sword, but how you wield it, soldier. :-|

    -Zir0 out.

  • how do u use this program?i dont know how

  • Hey.

    jpeel132 - Hello, there.

    Ok, here's a VERY brief rundown:

    First, you need to add a sound to the program. You can do that by clicking on the "Samples" tab, click the open icon, and select the sound you want.

    Next, click on the "Pattern" tab, and select the sound from the "Instrument" drop-down box.

    Now, you can compose notes using that sound in the pattern editor on the lower half of the screen. Use certain keys on the keyboard to compose notes.

  • ok where can i get a sound for the program

    i click the open sample icon and im lost

  • ===========

    PART 2 of 4

    ===========

    (Any actual instrument will have a "piano" icon next to it.)

    Click on the "Instruments" tab,and click the "New instrument" icon (to the left of the "Import instrument" icon).

    Select one of the piano instruments, drag it onto the black area on the bottom half of the program screen, and release it over this area. It should fill in with a line connected by some little squares, and other instrument data (such as its name) should appear.

    ... continued...

  • ===========

    PART 3 of 4

    ===========

    Click on the "Patterns" tab, make sure that your instrument, is selected in the "Instrument:" drop-down box.

    Below, you will see a list of columns, named "Channel 1", "Channel 2", etc. Under each channel, you should see something like this on each row: "... .. .. ..." (Yours may look different). Click on the far left group of dots; this is where you input notes.

    Use the keys on your keyboard to input notes, and the arrow keys to navigate.

    ... continued...

  • ===========

    PART 4 of 4

    ===========

    To see which keys you can use as notes, click on "View" from the main menu bar, setect "Setup...", then click the "Keyboard" tab.

    Each row of data (where you input the notes) can be similar to a beat in a song, so input notes on successive rows to create more notes to play.

    You can listed to what you have played by clicking and of the "Play" buttons.

    I hope this helps you, soldier.

    -Zir0 out.

  • Nicely done!

    Since you seem to be quite good (in fact, probably better than I was), do you know how to 'funkify' beats? What I mean is to make the tempo kind of non-linear and go something like 1-1-2-1-1-2 . . . (I dunno if that explains it properly, lul).

    I remember there was a way to do it, but as I haven't tracked for about 6 years (trying to get back into it now), I kinda forgot.

  • Hey. ============= [POST 1 of 2] ============= Thanks for your comments, soldier. 'Preciate that. :-| I think I know what you're talking about. When you want to make this kind of beat, it's best to compose the song that has 6/8 time. For example, let's say one "measure" in your song is 6 rows, and you wanted to hit a hi-hat on each quarter-note. You would place the hi-hat as follows for each measure: Measure 1: rows 0 and 4 Measure 2: rows 6 and 10 Measure 3: rows 12 and 16 etc.
  • =============

    [POST 2 of 2]

    =============

    When you have a song like this, the number of rows in a pattern will usually be a multiple of 6

    However, it is possible to convert a song that uses a more traditional 4/4 time into a "funkified" beat.

    If possible, provide a link to a song (any song) that demonstrates what you mean.

    Hope that helps. If not, let me know, and I can make a little video-tutorial on it, assuming I get what you're sayin'. :-)

  • I think what the dude is referring to is "syncopation". Check out Norfair's "Chillzone" (it's a .xm file, will play in winamp or most more modern trackers) for a great example of this technique.

  • Hey.

    Artuir82 - Nice to meet you.

    Yes that is what I was elaborating on.

    BTW, I did find the XM you were referring to.

    That was a good look, soldier. :-|

    xarcosis - If you're still reading this, hint, hint... ;-)
