Dr. Paul complains all day long about the The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists in Afghanistan which congress passed in the aftermath of 9/11 on the grounds that it grants the president unconstitutional amounts of power (which is a very valid argument). But correct me if i'm wrong, didn't he sign this bill?

Not only that, the language used in the bill gave the president virtually unlimited power in that regard.

I like Ron Paul, but on Afghanistan I have to disagree with him.

We gave the Taliban a chance to handover Al Quaeda over....they refused, so we went and got them, and stayed to secure the country until it can be autonomous.Bin Laden WAS in Tora Bora, we injured him so he was there.

Ron Paul is right. The Afghan war technically is illegal because it was never declared by Congress. It is the same with war in Iraq and many other wars that the US entered into. It says somewhere in the many laws and measures that only Congress can declare war not the President.

Not completely. There those that stood up but it was too late. Also the Germans at the time had moderized their armed forces with the latest advanced technolgoy. Other European armies were at a major disadvantage. Also the blitzkrieg overwhelmed many of them before they could effectively mount counterattacks.

Same thing happened during Jefferson's Presidency, Barbary States declared war on the US; although they had no power to effect us (similar to Hitler)...Jefferson, without Congress consent, sent the Navy to the Barbary States...although, he waited for Congress consent to engage...

This war was one of many of Jeffersons failures as a President; as a founder...he was brilliant, as a President...he was a failure.
