I still rember when I was a kid (now Im 24) my sister and I used to run home and switch the T.V on to see rescue 911. I miss this a lot....I want it back on air. Ihave learned a lot as a kid by see this program, I miss it comes back on air.
o.m.g. when i saw that boulder come down my heart stopped (btw i didn't know that gold panning was still done in that year. i wasnt born till '88. is it still being practised today? juz curious?)
I remember when this video aired! It stuck in my head ever since. I often thought about what it would be like to be stuck so close to the surface. I had forgotten about the SCUBA regulator that was there--that SHOULD have been the perfect solution until they got the rock off him--but if it was on his lungs, the reg wouldn't have provided the pos. pressure nec. to fill his lungs, no matter how hard he inhaled. That is where the CPR (rescue breaths) did the trick. Awesome work.
I had kidney stones as a young kid and I thought the lithotripter was like a dredger and your whole body like this victim was under water to catch the kidney stones LOL.
BTW I lived in the Sacramento area from 1990 to 96, and have been along the American River. These scenes look pretty familar.
I'm sure those boulders are alot heavier than they look. Lifting it wouldn't have been possible at 3000 pounds - maybe they could've tried to roll it off, but I think keeping Dave alive via CPR was the best thing.
just push it off him there was like 6 dudes and they couldnt get it off him and plus the boulders under water it should be a little easier. its like picking up a heavy person in the pool its alot easier

A boulder doesn't have to be going fast, if it's moving downward, and is big enough to hold a man underwater.
One and a half tons is 3,000 lbs: each man would have had to lift 500 lbs. of stone.
My boss is a Senior Medic. He's been a paramedic for 21 years.
If it weren't for him, I would have given up my job after answering all these crime-related calls we've had in the last month.
People are way out of control with drugs and domestic violence. IDK what's up with that.

people are just desperately wicked

The word for "Grace" in Polish is "Jia, Jia". I just learned something!

plus it was only going like 5mph
Bandos624 2 years ago
the sound of the boulder falling down from 0:50 - 1:00 sounds really cheesy

Shut up and make your own re-enactment and make it better if you want.

Is this area off Salmon Falls Rd by Folsom or up towards Coloma>
travelplus1 2 years ago
Wow...1 and a half ton boulder? Holy crap. No wonder they couldn't lift it.
I know it's a reenactment and for obvious reasons couldn't use an actual boulder, but that boulder didn't look no 3000 pounds at all.
Muggle423 2 years ago
I bet the boulder for the reenactment was foam and shaped to make it realistic.

gregorkrause 2 years ago
Have you heard of a medical device called a lithotripter?, a dredger kinda is like that because it breaks stones to catch gold.

here's what made this segment memorable a "polish prayer" Jia Jia (sp)

shatner states that took place in 1982 that's cool and an early dated segment, and here's what could go with this segment, "French skydiver" 1976.
gregorkrause 2 years ago
Yeah, I like the ones where they go a bit back (i.e. any more than maybe 5 years ago at the time). Shows in the 90s did that alot.
Another one like that was the Cody Wyoming bar shooting. I think that was 1983.
JPMcFly1985 2 years ago
yes the cody wyoming bar shooting was in 83, note JAWS III 3-D was filmed the same year.

the "American River" worthy of a painting lol.

How could they not move the boulder like seriously i could easily move it
madmaxx1221 2 years ago
You could move a 3000 pound boulder? Let me know how that goes won't you LOL!

here's a suggestion, you forgot to put the 2 ep #'s for smoke-filled house #108 and #208.
gregorkrause 2 years ago
Dave already uploaded that segment.
DorvellTStewart 2 years ago
yeah, i know 108's smoke-filled house was repeated on 208.
gregorkrause 2 years ago
The big question is, How did that boulder just come loose??
happy7117 2 years ago
Great one! I've been wanting to see this one for a while now!
DorvellTStewart 2 years ago
That's a very unbelieveable segment. Whoa, remind to keep on falling boulders.
PredatorBrendan 2 years ago
"remind to keep on falling boulders"
Was that a mistake you made in typing Brendan??
Did you maybe mean to say, "remind me to keep away from falling boulders"
happy7117 2 years ago
Yes, that's what I meant to say.
