Leg shots count here, too. But LARP tends to be too leg-concentrated, so you should try to avoid it. Thrusts and hits to the head are forbidden, but if you wear working helmets, you can agree to using attacks on the head for realism. Those two are in fact trying to make it look cineastic, hence slower than usual. And none of them has actual fighting experience.

Geez, even in plate armor they're sloppy and slow..atleast be trained in lifting 20 pounds or more in full plate..those shields could be knocked off easily if they hit med or low. Their stance is very open and their shields are abit off their hands and swinging around..Even though its kind of fake fighting, its larp..they could have tried to make it feel real, Both of their balls would've been sliced in two in actual mediveal combat.

@XxXxXxXxmanxXxXxXxXx because real weapons were designed (odly enough) to kill people, plate armour or no. especialy blunt weapons like what these folks are using, just because a weapon doesn't peirce the armour doesn't mean the force doesn't transfere through, crushing bone and ripping organs apart as it travels. these guys most likely wouldnt be meaning to hit that hard, but you can still see that if a stray shot were to hit something like the head it could mean a broken neck.

It is a common misconception also that larps are predominantly pvc weapons. People are finally waking up and realizing that latex, Vrem blades, and hybrid cloth-covered weapons are safer in most cases sure to the low amount of mass and weight.

That doesn't look like LARPing it looks more like SCA, or something of that variety. The main difference is LARP uses foam, and pvc and a lightest touch system.(You don't need to hit hard for it to count, and in fact are told not to swing too quickly.) While in SCA you use wood/metal, and swing hard. Blows are suppose to hurt, through armor.

This is actually SCA I believe, not LARP'ing. Society of Creative Anachronisms have different combat style tournaments where people will show up to fight and spar against one another for fun.

It's not SCA. SCA Heavy Comabt uses helms and rattan sticks. SCA Rapier uses fencing masks and sabers. This is a very good looking LARP, though I can't tell if they're pretending to fight or if they are actually trying to hit each other. I've done SCA and Dagorhir. Dagorhir and Belegarth are more exciting IMO.

@EbonOcelot actually not true at all. that myth came from a movie. Hell I own a plate harness thats thicker and heavier that the historical stuff and its no problem to get around in. Mine is a mix of 12g - 16 g steel. Historical armour was closer to 20g and much lighter.

Believe it or not, this is actually farely accurate, refrencing to what a late medieval dual would have been like. During the Late medieval ages (1400's around there) wealthy knights garbed in full plate and underlying mail discarded the wood and steel/iron shield and took claymores and zwei handers into battle. The idea, was that with a combination of repetative smacking and halfswording, one could break through a weak spot. So any who say this lacks form, the armor simply didn't allow for it.
