Johnny you were and are a great poet and musician!! YOu left a little bit of your soul in everything you ever shared, and for that you will keep living in us and hopefully through us. Bless you MAN IN BLACK!!! I'd love to hear the songs you and June are singing today together again... I know you ARE RESTING IN PEACE....
the song isnt about being able to hurt another person or being able to live with the fact, hes trying to say that you should be able to live with the actions youve taken as a person and repent for them and ask forgivness, not wether or not you can hurt a person and then someone else hurts you because of that. Its about asking forgivness for anything youve done in life and being able to live with yourslef and the fact that youve done the things you have

@TheFacelessActivist last time i checked, the US only has the death penalty in maybe five states (not sure on the number, but most have abolished it.). also, they use lethal injection, not hanging. if you're talking about the song, i'm pretty sure this was made in an older day, before the death penalty was abolished in many countries and states.
So? The lethal injection was invented by Nazi war criminal Karl Brandt, who not only made that contraption as a result of human experiments on Jewish prisoners, but were also very close to Adolf Hitler himself. The contraption was designed for the "Lebensunwertes Leben"-idea. Which is essentially the philosophy used in the US, they just go after "Criminals" instead of non-whites.
Doesn't it bother you that the US not only takes lessons from the murderers, but also from Nazis?
@TheFacelessActivist The electric chair was invented by a dentist. it doesn't matter who makes it, or what they make it for. if it even has an inkling of possibility to kill someone, people will use it. It's not just the U.S, so don't focus on one single country. if they didn't have something as humane and quick as the injections, they'd use the electric chair, which could take up to three tries to kill someone. or firing squad. or hanging. people have always killed, will always kill each other.
Actually, most countries in the western world have stopped being so barbaric, and they're not entitled to their status if they don't follow the example of the rest of the free world. To justify a death by other people killing each other, is a paradox: Because you're willing to pardon the government for their murders, but not the murderers themselves? The electric chair was adapted to provide a spectacle for it's audience: To scare them into submission, much like the Romans did.
The potency of it's sedative is entirely based on the prisoner's metabolism. Autopsies reveal that several prisoners who died from lethal injections had not been properly sedated, and even though they were paralyzed: They could still feel the acid being pumped into their cardiovascular systems, and the only thing stopping them from crying out in agony was the fact that their vocal cords were paralyzed.
@TheFacelessActivist yeah, that sucks, but try having electricity running through you over and over again, feeling your body blackening from the voltage. and if you're not clinically dead after that, just when you're catching your breath and in severe agony, they do it again until your heart stops. and it doesn't matter what the electric chair was adapted to, it still killed. not as well as poison or a bullet, but it killed. the lethal injection is a newer, more efficient way of killing people.
How can something invented seventy years ago be new and efficient? It's old and inefficient, states with death penalty have higher murder rates than states without. To kill someone in a state of temporary rage or insanity can be empathized, it can be linked to what's known as human error. But to have a man confined, restrained and then having a committee systematically murdering a man who is no longer a threat after careful consideration? How do you justify that? It's pure evil.
@TheFacelessActivist it's new and efficient compared to a knife in the back, a bullet in the kidney, or a bomb dropped from 1000 feet. you call that temporary rage? you call that insanity? can you empathize the fact that every day, hundreds die from disease, hunger, and acts of mankind, when some of them have been suffering for months or years? what do you think they used to do during wars, what they still do under the radar? killing, torture, murdering people for what they see.
@TheFacelessActivist It's an inhumane world. it's an evil world. systematically or in a fit of rage, or because they're less fortunate. there's no reason for people to die, in any case. the methods are different, the effects the same, the aftershocks heard through the ages. so you're saying that murderers should be sentenced for life, instead of death? that we should let the people that have killed, be it one time or ten, live their lives with a chance to get out and make the same atrocities?
No, you keep them inside on a more permanent basis, if you act like an animal: It's only fair to live in a cage. Most politicians make sure to be loose on the parole and lifetime sentencing because then they can let these repeat offenders out and use their atrocities as an argument to the death penalty. To let out a bloodthristy lion from it's cage and then act surprised when it strikes again is sheer incompetence. Incompetence is the biggest argument towards the capital punishment.
@TheFacelessActivist it's not the politicians deciding when someone can have a chance at parole. besides, it's a simple concept, to use your animal reference. a dog mauls a kid or goes rabid, you shoot it. it keeps people safe, and makes sure they don't infect others of their kind.
That's different, if a dog kills one of it's own kind: You lock it up. Same principal applies to a human being. You just spoke against capital punishment through your own erroneous logic. Plus, I said "act like", not "being" an animal. Big difference.
And politicians DO determine it, it's what's known as an "agenda". It's concept is built around politicians not having to be around when something happens, so that people such as yourself can get successfully manipulated by it.
See, the neurological center of a dog is different to that of a person. It's basis consists of a whole new level of perception, which results in a whole new level of communication with it's environment. Only the dynamics of opposition renders us human beings far more superior than any animal, and that's just a few tiny bones and some muscle mass to make it more exciting.
I now understand how you're able to speak so crookedly about human life in general: You know nothing about it.
@TheFacelessActivist i know about human life. i know how quickly it can be taken away, through some of the worst and most inhumane ways possible. if you don't understand death, you can't understand life. i think you just blamed the government for bribing a jury to be partial. and you're wrong on the first sentence you said. if a dog kills one of it's own, you kill it. you take it out behind your barn and you blow it's brains out, or you get it euthanized. either way, with a bullet or a poison.
@TheFacelessActivist and i find it funny how you think humans are better than animals. we are still primates, we're still animals. we only have a different form of communication than them, as well as a slightly more complex brain than most. we're no better than animals, in fact, we're worse. we kill just because we can feel like it. animals kill for something other than sending a message and starting a long road of bloodshed.
That's... Not even the slightest bit scientific. See, evolution is basically a path constantly building itself through natural developments, and forks with each species. Right now, mankind is at the longest stretch available. We're so advanced and sophisticated so that even though we cannot distinguish ourselves anatomically: We certainly can cognitively. Counting all essentially "good" acts we commit, the killings we do are a statistical anomaly by comparison. We -are- superior.
If we're warm, we make a contraption to cool us. If we're cold: We make a contraption to warm us. Other species would simply die from dehydration or hypothermia. We're the evolution's greatest experiment in the sense that we can grant ourselves adaption, rather than having to wait for evolution to tweak our deoxyribonucleic substances. We a mass of ambiguity, sanity, insanity, knowledge, ignorance and the billions of thoughts to compose them...
@TheFacelessActivist that's exactly what the Nazi's thought when they were doing what they did. no, we aren't superior. in some cases, we're severely inferior. i don't care what's scientific. scientific isn't always right. we've done some good acts, that's true. but think about this: it wasn't the dog or the cat that invented war. it was primates, it was humans. we're greedy animals, when it boils down to it. i don't even know why i'm arguing with someone that can't see both sides of an argument
Actually, the principalities of warfare is connected to hive mentality. Wasps, bees, ants and even bacterial colonies have had military structures long before we even developed human societies. So no, we did not invent warfare. Wherever there's a group: There's another contrasting group for it to fight. All animals are in packs, animal warfare is therefore common. I don't expect someone who discredits science to understand, since they normally don't understand anything.
@TheFacelessActivist last time i checked, a wasp didn't create a gun to destroy it's enemy, a bacterium didn't throw grenades, and an ant colony didn't mix volatile chemicals together to blow up the opposing anthill. and i understand enough. i just don't- you know what? screw it. i'm tired of arguments. i'm tired of people hating each other, i'm tired of uncaring, unbelieving idiots sitting there trying to tell others they've got the brain capacity of a thimble.
They do. Wasps use chemicals all the time, their stingers wouldn't cause irritation. Sure, to a juggernaut such as yourself: You don't feel much. A wasp can easily kill another wasp, just like a human can kill another human, and bacteria took our vital territory: It's was known as the plague, and it killed a third of Europe, that's more than the Nazis.
I don't hate you, I don't hate anyone. You started this argument, and you justified the death penalty. I simply found that insane.
@equinox627 You're a fucking fool. You give yourself the label of an idiot with arguments like this. You ignore his point entirely, and try to scapegoat your orginal point on a single entity of war, the modern weapons used to fight it. In the past, humans had neither guns, nor grenades, and didn't use chemicals either, instead using bows, swords, spears and the like. Does that mean that we didn't wage warfare at the time, and that it was something else? GTFO.
@The404System i already gave up on this argument as i finally figured out that i'm on the losing side, and arguing for a reason i didn't realize at the time. I've admitted defeat in it, and I'm tired of pushing my own morals on someone with morals of their own. it's a never-wavering argument, and i'm sick of those. thank you for ignoring the last three and a half sentences in my last comment on this. As has been said before, I've backed down from the argument i created. we shouldn't argue morals
i think this would have made a better country song anyway,people have beef because sting did it first but this version just gives a better tone of guilt,sadness mercy,and forgiveness.

@Yourfrontallobe You should also watch 'Dawn of the Dead', it's a zombie movie. But at the beginning when they show a destroyed world and all that stuff, you can hear 'When the Man Comes Around', which fits perfectly in the movie. And it's a good movie.
I am also a Police ( sting ) fan but this is Johnny's song now. It sounds like a cover when Sting sings it. An old man country western blues. Cowboy song just like Mr Cash was. yeah would be great in Red Redemption.
people look at me all the time when i'm in my car and my johnny cash music is out bump'n these young'ns rap/pop bullshxt... and they do just as the song says... HANG THEIR HEAD!!!!
i love how nothing really affects me, pain, being backstabbed and betrayed but when i listen to this song, hits me harder than any man or woman can ...
j cash was one of a kind. his songs like this one, songs like "when the man comes around" "gods gunna cut you down" they just make you stop and listen no matter what you doin shit is crazy i love it
A lot of Johnny's songs are like this. He hurt for people who made mistakes that they had to pay for. Good people who just made a mistake. That's why he played in prisons. God's work. He was a fine man.
Stop with the negativity, You want to argue, go to a lil wayne video or some garbage. Johnny Cash is a real musical genius. Real music is dead. Let it rest in peace.
@ChainsawVsGod Don't be pathetic, says the guy trying to insult someone over the internet.You are entitled to your own opinion as am I. Just because our opinions differ no need to throw insults around. Have a good day my friend.
Late one evening, with time to kill.Gota a bottle of that sweet stuff, that rock hard pill.If i take it ill surely, be in a rightfull hurry, 4 or more hours, and ill be sorry, i hung my dick, i hung my dick."
Early one morning. Having no taste. I clicked on a video. Linkin Park's that I fav'd. Then I listened to this. And I felt kind depressed. Due to my sadness. I shaked and was mad. My left mouse button. Went off in a sec. A click rang out. Across the web. I missed the like button. Dislike turned out red. I hung my head. I hung my head.

TheFacelessActivist 8 months ago
@TheFacelessActivist i know about human life. i know how quickly it can be taken away, through some of the worst and most inhumane ways possible. if you don't understand death, you can't understand life. i think you just blamed the government for bribing a jury to be partial. and you're wrong on the first sentence you said. if a dog kills one of it's own, you kill it. you take it out behind your barn and you blow it's brains out, or you get it euthanized. either way, with a bullet or a poison.
equinox627 8 months ago
@TheFacelessActivist and i find it funny how you think humans are better than animals. we are still primates, we're still animals. we only have a different form of communication than them, as well as a slightly more complex brain than most. we're no better than animals, in fact, we're worse. we kill just because we can feel like it. animals kill for something other than sending a message and starting a long road of bloodshed.
equinox627 8 months ago
@equinox627
TheFacelessActivist 8 months ago
@equinox627
But to give an example:
If we're warm, we make a contraption to cool us. If we're cold: We make a contraption to warm us. Other species would simply die from dehydration or hypothermia. We're the evolution's greatest experiment in the sense that we can grant ourselves adaption, rather than having to wait for evolution to tweak our deoxyribonucleic substances. We a mass of ambiguity, sanity, insanity, knowledge, ignorance and the billions of thoughts to compose them...
TheFacelessActivist 8 months ago
@TheFacelessActivist that's exactly what the Nazi's thought when they were doing what they did. no, we aren't superior. in some cases, we're severely inferior. i don't care what's scientific. scientific isn't always right. we've done some good acts, that's true. but think about this: it wasn't the dog or the cat that invented war. it was primates, it was humans. we're greedy animals, when it boils down to it. i don't even know why i'm arguing with someone that can't see both sides of an argument
equinox627 8 months ago
@equinox627
TheFacelessActivist 8 months ago
@TheFacelessActivist last time i checked, a wasp didn't create a gun to destroy it's enemy, a bacterium didn't throw grenades, and an ant colony didn't mix volatile chemicals together to blow up the opposing anthill. and i understand enough. i just don't- you know what? screw it. i'm tired of arguments. i'm tired of people hating each other, i'm tired of uncaring, unbelieving idiots sitting there trying to tell others they've got the brain capacity of a thimble.
equinox627 8 months ago
@equinox627
TheFacelessActivist 8 months ago
@equinox627 You're a fucking fool. You give yourself the label of an idiot with arguments like this. You ignore his point entirely, and try to scapegoat your orginal point on a single entity of war, the modern weapons used to fight it. In the past, humans had neither guns, nor grenades, and didn't use chemicals either, instead using bows, swords, spears and the like. Does that mean that we didn't wage warfare at the time, and that it was something else? GTFO.
The404System 7 months ago
@The404System i already gave up on this argument as i finally figured out that i'm on the losing side, and arguing for a reason i didn't realize at the time. I've admitted defeat in it, and I'm tired of pushing my own morals on someone with morals of their own. it's a never-wavering argument, and i'm sick of those. thank you for ignoring the last three and a half sentences in my last comment on this. As has been said before, I've backed down from the argument i created. we shouldn't argue morals

I almost cried when I saw this in Green Hornet...I'm so glad someone put this in a movie, and it took them long enough.

@Yourfrontallobe I agree but although I loved the Green Hornet but I think it would have been better in a... more serious film

Although the GH may be the first movie it has been in, this song was in the tv series "The Shield"....
kevin022778 8 months ago
@Yourfrontallobe You should also watch 'Dawn of the Dead', it's a zombie movie. But at the beginning when they show a destroyed world and all that stuff, you can hear 'When the Man Comes Around', which fits perfectly in the movie. And it's a good movie.

I am also a Police ( sting ) fan but this is Johnny's song now. It sounds like a cover when Sting sings it. An old man country western blues. Cowboy song just like Mr Cash was. yeah would be great in Red Redemption.
