I am very disappointed with the job system. You no longer can just simply be a warrior and choose your weapon... instead you are what weapon you use. Final Fantasy Online sequel is just as disappointing as Guild Wars online sequel.
This video didn't need to be 6min for some crappy Type 1-4 character creation, we should be gettin into way more customization. Age of Conan uses sliders (though they dont drasticallly change the body for the most part) and APB has a real big customization. You'd think somethin as big as Square could do better than some old ass type selection with only a few options.
This most certainly isn't Perfect World quality. I thought the biggest name in RPG history could do better.. maybe I was wrong? It needs a thorough overhaul for sure. After getting so pissed off at FF11 with the poor character customization I don't have high hopes. I'm not a big fan of "choose face 1 - 4" I'm more of a slider bar "change nose length, boob size, etc" person myself.
@Erick726 well, some ppl aren't tho, so i'm sure SE is just trying to find the middle ground. Indecisive ppl like myself actually like how this is built.. but again i was a huge FFXI fan. And yes, it is one of the biggest names in RPG history, but the company has changed considerably and ever since ff6 has emphasized premade characters. Furthermore, if you are able to customize too much, you can break the rpg element of the game like with mutant characters. Would be lame.
@awtodor They can put a limit on customization, again, look at APB, no characters with 5 foot arms or a tiny baseball head... If they are only going to give us an option of three faces, why the hell not just make it pre-made characters and save us the irritation and trollling..... HALF ASSED, just like everything else in the world today.
@talinu It IS premade... just w/ color swaps. Like you expressed we aren't fiddling w/ waist size, arm length, ect. Everything except color, size, and additional effects are already premade. But what newer players don't understand is that these races have to comfrom to certain standards because of FFXI. FFXI fanbase is a very conservative base. So while they are trying to attract new players and older ones w/ more customization that customization must be limited to a certain preset model.

@talinu calm down lol, they only made the small one for the beta, but the outfits is where most of the freedom comes. But the final character creation will be like ff11 only better. Keep in mind more will come in patches as well, if anything they are rushing to meet the release date
@LContrerasVE actually, they also did the miqo'te creation and it's terrible. check out the game APB... I pray they only are showing about 1/4 of what they creation will be
@talinu well the I believe they said they used there own creater to make the character that were in the trailer they showed at e3 this year (not the ones in cg) and they showed alot on impressive characters
@talinu Well if you look at the top, as he goes threw each step a little blue dot lights up. He doesn't do all of them so I am guessing there is more to it as is.
@LContrerasVE I wish that was something that could bring hope. If you look through other videos of creation, you'll see that the blue dots are really just a couple more pitiful options, i.e. pick a face 1-4 pick a body type 1-4....all of it is half ass, The only way you will be able to discern individuality is via equipment, hair highlights, or EXTREMELY close up face shots. and even looking at these three options, I still doubt anyone will feel much different from anyone else....
@LContrerasVE It is Pay to play, it's 13 dollars a month. With additional 3 dollars for an extra character or 1 dollar for an extra retainer (Portable bank).

They didn't shot all of the character creation. I'm sure when it is release it will end up a lot like FFXI because you are able to transfer characters from 11 to 14
@LContrerasVE Actually I don't believe character transfer is possible because FFXI and FFXIV are two completely different games according to Tanaka, but I'd look up on it just to make sure.
@LContrerasVE I heard that Character NAMES would be transferable...I suppose, so players could still use the same names they always had without having ti vi for dibs on it.
When will it be release for the PS3? I hope the P"S3 one will look better.

ff14 and ff11 almost the same and i am seriously considering if i should play.
Main problem is that Jpn dont group with english speaking folks and i aint from USA / different time zone.
