it's not about smoking or riding a harley. listen, don't hear it, but listen to it. any waylon fan will tell you the same thing. ...freedom is just a safe time til i'm strong enough to bend and not break... whats does that mean? not hating, just saying. there's more to waylon than just HEARING. try listeneing.
Among my delusions of granduer was that " 1 night fate treated my rite, after riding a long, lonely highway. stop at a rustic countyline bar where I happened to meet 4 men" Many years later I tell this story to my grandchildren Waylon Johnny Willie Kris & me decided to go & huntdown that fuck'n David Allan Coe
Originally I heard this on Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. But that was when I was teenager. Now I'm an adult and a major Waylon fan. Still, this song is one of the best in his catalogue.
aswome song aswome man and awsome movie. the way they put jennings song into harley-davidson and the marlboro man movie was amazing. all time fav movie and with waylon's song in it. it is not just my all time fav movie but now a great classic.
I've loved Waylon since the 70s. I was firstly a Johnny Cash fan until I accidentally bought a compilation album in 1978 which featured Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and a few others.
I've been hooked on Willie, Waylon, Merle, etc.., ever since.
Sorry if I mention Willie's name before Waylon's. No disrespect intended. It's just that I met my wife through Willie Nelson's website so Willie will always come a little bit first for that reason.

I am not the biggest country music fan out there, though i like all kinds of music i tend to lean more toward rock/metal, but there's a good bit of country that i do like, albeit alot of it is newer stuff, but there are a few, Mr. Cash, Mr. Nelson, and this man, The great Mr. Waylon Jennings, of his stuff i like most of it, someone said "haunting" for the vocals in this song, well put i say, great song and a great movie, if you've never seen it, i highly recommend it.
Waylon Jennings was so far ahead of his time. I have listened to Waylon all my life, I thought I knew all of his work and I was watching this movie and heard his voice. This is the most amazing song and is voice is almost haunting in a very good way. RIP...Hoss
@harley0226 i'm gonna have to agree with you on this one, ahead of his time, though exactly what his time needed, and where would we be if he hadn't been in his time, lol, long live the good ol' boys( Bo and Luke Duke) and long live Mr. Waylon Jennings
@harley0226 I agree. I watched an infomercial for TimeLife's Golden Age of Country (50s/60s) last night. First, they only included one Waylon song, for shame! (Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line) Second, when it came on, it really stood out as sounding much more fresh and new than the rest. In fact, it was my first favorite country song, so I was blown away to learn it was recorded in the 60s. As a kid, in the 80s, I thought it was a current hit! It seems my dad just had good taste in music! :)
A True legend that will be greatly missed and how you made this video AWESOME THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! my whole family enjoyed the days of Waylon,Johnny, and the Highway Men. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

They say men should never cry or choke up.....I cant help but choke up and think of a certain someone that i miss deeply....ty waylon you truely sing it like it is!!!!!
@teddie488 This song is very hard for me to listen to but i cant help it. It brings back memorys of a love i once had and i have a son with her. So its like everytime i pick my son up and see her i cant help but think of this song. Music is my outlet for emotions. I turn the lights down low and sit back and let the music do the talking for me.
I understand where your coming from, the trouble is you do have a sad story to tell, I too feel things through the music that i listen to, and sometimes it hurts, other times it can make you so happy . You take care my friend
A classic, too bad artists today will never match up. I had the HDMM soundtrack for years but lost it over time. I must've listened to it a million times when I had it. I beat myself up that I never kept it. Anyone know where I can get Hardline, or Ride With Me from the movie. Take care fans, keep it alive.............RIP WJ
Was watching the movie " Harley davidson and the Marlboro man " and heard this song for the first time , I knew it was Waylon but had to make for sure " he was a great music man" thx for putting this up
Wow really nice video. My friend told me about this song. Now I have to watch the movie again and get the soundtrack.
I just started listening to Waylon and now will always be a fan. I think in the last 6 months I have picked up most his songs and I think everyweek I have a new favorite.
I have been listening to Waylon since the late 60's and still hear songs from him, that had gone by unoticed over the years, and i am suddenly blown away by them ...Waylon is for me the greatest country singer there ever was. tc my friend
It HAD been many years since I had listened to Waylon --- but was watching the movie ""Harley Davisdon and the Marlboro Man""--for the 100th time -- when suddenly I heard Waylon -- now I'm looking for CD's Again. Thank God for Country and classic rock!!!!
@teddie488 -- I '''live''' to listen to music -- just about ALL GENRES ( OR ''KIND'' in case I spelled that wrong)) ---OHHHH -- BUT MY GREATEST MEMORY -- April 10, 1974 - with a crowd of 26,000 -- I grabbed the hand of a man wearing a white jump-suit -- after he sang "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You""-- the lights went off -- and he left the building -- Why did he have to Go ????
@teddie488 I think this is one of the best songs ever written but i guess it could be that it hits so close to home either way it's a wonderful song thx for the video
this song brings up memories of the love of my life. We were together and in love. the military stationed me thousands of miles away so the long distance relationship didnt work. That was me fighting on the front line. After 10 years i came back home and found here again. She was married but we still found time to spend together. That makes me the victim of a hard crime. Our situation at the time caused us to not be able to make a life together. Thats why im taking my sweet time and dont give up

Sorry JD i don't get that at all . Wonderful song i agree, but would never have compared Waylon to Elvis at all. For me anyway there is just no comparison to Waylon. Elvis did as his masters told him especially in his early career, Waylon never bowed to anybody at anytime it was his way or no way, and i don't hear Elvis anywhere in the vocals ..sorry .
