Part of it, I think, is that the little girl isn't a good actor, like, at all. She just repeats the same thing over and over, not very convincingly. She didn't seem truly distressed. I think people may have figured that it was just a child having a tantrum, despite what she was saying. Kids say crazy things sometimes.
