Scenario.......A girl has played baseball with the boys her whole life and when she gets to high school they won't let her continue because there is a comparitive sport for the girls that she can play. She and her parents throw a fit for equal rights, and they allow her on the team. Two boys on that team leave and try out for the girls softball team and the same people deny them of their equal rights. This happens with race also. So what do you credit to the african-american race?
Well, I think it is more about what the editors want us to view race. But!, there is something to be said about what went on in that particular clip. Historic Caucasian have stolen things and afterwards when confront(no matter how many s years went by) they claim no responsibility. The black guys on this group were very macho in their attitude towards the women, but I do not think it would de recurrent in other black groups. Same with the latino groups, they had a weird vibe in that group that I am pretty sur would not be recurrent if played again with another group of latinos.
I think it's okay for Survivor to do the race divisions and see what happens, however you can't really come to any conclusion after just one try with one group, you would have to do this a few times before coming to any conclusion.
Survivor taught us something about how the producers of survivor survive the racial question in society. I worked at a large company that downsized 30% of its employees largely through early retirement,buyouts and job elimination. Well first off, White/Caucasian isn't a "Ethnicity" it is a Racial-classification. The only ethnicities would be the ones the Asians were describing of themselves as well as the Hispanics. Scenario.......A girl has played baseball with the boys her whole life and when she gets to high school they won't let her continue because there is a comparitive sport for the girls that she can play. She and her parents throw a fit for equal rights, and they allow her on the team. Two boys on that team leave and try out for the girls softball team and the same people deny them of their equal rights. This happens with race also. Well, I think it is more about what the editors want us to view race. But!, there is something to be said about what went on in that particular clip. Historic Caucasian have stolen things and afterwards when confront(no matter how many s years went by) they claim no responsibility. It's not unusual to see a African-American to discourage that sort of behavior. As for the Asians well...they don't tend to confront people when they are done wrong or at least not right away.

Haha, ya I agree. Funny thing though all the subsequent seasons drastically reduced the number of minorities and drastically increased the number of Whites on the show. On a sidenote pretty much for the most part all the Asian males on these post Cook Islands seasons were much more of the type consistent with Western stereotypes of Asian males as opposed to the ones on par with Yul/Brad even though we now know they clearly exist... Makes you kinda go hmm... Suspect in my view =p

I think it's okay for Survivor to do the race divisions and see what happens, however you can't really come to any conclusion after just one try with one group, you would have to do this a few times before coming to any conclusion.

Survivor taught us something about how the producers of survivor survive the racial question in society. I worked at a large company that downsized 30% of its employees largely through early retirement,buyouts and job elimination. They also promoted alot of people in my department who were later "downsized and outsourced". One of the things that would be sure to get you left back and ostracized was "white racial pride". The comment about "white isn't an ethnicity" makes me think. My heritage is German, Irish, Welsh, Turkish, and American Indian. I look "white", am classified as caucasian, and yet... is it accurate? Does it matter? It must; I'm asked any time I have to fill a survey or application out. Do I have a race "to be proud of" like hispanics or blacks? Chances are very good that the next white guy I meet has little racial relation to me at all, if any.

A lot of this episode race was talked about, especially with Cao-Boi...and it kept being talked about to the end when Yul said they had a "multicultural" 4 at the end. Well first off, White/Caucasian isn't a "Ethnicity" it is a Racial-classification. The only ethnicities would be the ones the Asians were describing of themselves as well as the Hispanics. I also think because Jonathan stole the chicken, it gave others a reasonable choice to send someone to Exile Island. Same with Candace when she decided to go mutiny, and same reason why people of Jonathan's tribe wanted to vote him out when the sides flipped.
