Nice video. A few days ago I traveled to a site I thought was going to be great. It turned out to be a big bust. The site was a river with a lot of history. The river and the town it was in was written about in Allen W. Eckert's "The Frontiersman." The land on both sides has been re-landscaped. There's no original ground and I dug nothing but trash along both banks of the river. On the way home a small football field saved the day. Found a silver dime there. Best of luck to you!
Another interesting video, really enjoyed that one, keep em coming.
The posts and structure at 3:20 are part of the lock gate mechanism, they would have swung back around a pivot point and stopped at the larger post, the shorter section would have been the pivot point. the structure in the ground, like a wall, is the stop for the gate itself.
Thanks guy, good information. I love the old history, but don't know alot about the canal system. There are pieces parts all through that bottom and woods that were part of the canal locks and also some added later as part of the fish hatcher as mentioned in the video. It is all facinating to see though.
Very good. I would much rather view a detecting video that shows and explains the location and the area around it.
