This cop is the COOOLEST!! I've met some cool cops in the past, but this guy is not only a true professional, knowledgeable of the law, polite, calm and understanding, but a credit to the entire LE community. Officers should never have anything to fear from a law abiding citizen, if they were somewhat educated about the laws they are entrusted to enforce. Obviously he can tell that a true criminal with malicious intent would not be carrying or communicating in this manner.
As gun owneers and people who support the OC laws, for God's sake, if you run across cops like this fine gentlemen, cooperate. great cop indeed he went in thinking and preparing for the worst and dissolved the situation to a simple handshake.
I think seeing a person on the street with oc should raise an eyebrow or two and the person oc'ing should notice that and respect authority. The change in his demeanor was notice once the handgun was cleared and the person identified himself although not with a full name but with knowledge of his actions and rights.

I lived in oceanside Ca while I was in the Marine Corps. Not ONCE did I see someone open carrying a handgun. So naturally if you do see someone that could be cause for alarm.When the cop stopped him he was well within his rights and he was doing his job because someone called it in. Go buy a clue.

Because if the bad guy sees you with a weapon you become target number one. Rather than target 3 or 4. This cop is the COOOLEST!! I've met some cool cops in the past, but this guy is not only a true professional, knowledgeable of the law, polite, calm and understanding, but a credit to the entire LE community. Officers should never have anything to fear from a law abiding citizen, if they were somewhat educated about the laws they are entrusted to enforce. Obviously he can tell that a true criminal with malicious intent would not be carrying or communicating in this manner.

As gun owneers and people who support the OC laws, for God's sake, if you run across cops like this fine gentlemen, cooperate. Let us as gun owners develop a good strong relationship with our law enforcement officials. Once you get known, the next citizen that calls the cops on you for carrying a weapon, they can just drive by, give you a wave and not bother you.

Im for open carry, but I also think that you should carry proper id. drivers lic. for example. Myself as a law enforcement officer I enjoy a good chat with responsable folks who respect the law. You where lucky to run in to these fine cops. Others might not like the "I now my rights" lingo. Treat the cop with respect and cooperation. Don't forget,.. he does not now you and he just wants to now the everything is OK. God bless

RESPECT the police. You should know better. When he speaks, you answer. Don't want to give him the information? Let him know, don't just stand there. There is a lot to be said (and seen) about the incivility of people who videotape the police. I'm not saying it's a bad thing in any way, either, to videotape the police. Never really understood why some people choose to be such hard cases' when it comes to dealing with cops. I understatd that most cops are a-holes but speaking in generalities it is much better for the armed citizen to be respectful and MAKE SURE what your telling the cop is law is actually law. Know your right and your laws it is YOUR responsibility to know, especially if you are gonna carry for personal protection.

I do not condone police encroachment on the citizens personal rights, but I do not think that making things harder on them is going change anything other than making cops more vicious.
