  • i guess justice is only for rich people.

  • Quite

  • Because thats right where we are headed if we keep on with this "control"

  • Thank you so much for commenting, especially because you say you are a Christian. I know there are plenty of Christians like you, but it's a pity that a bigoted minority amongst you manage to drown out the tolerant voices in the majority with their incessant noise. But I heard you loud and clear, and once again: thank you.

  • Im so glad that I came accross ur video, I was just having this conversation with my dad the other day about this exact subject. I am a Christian, and I love my God. That being said is not the issue here. the issue is freedom of speech or the fact that we are loosing that freedom and even more in America every day. Most Christians dont even realize that by dambing your freedom of speech we are dambing so much more. In fact why dont we just skip it all and fall right back into the dark ages.

  • Reject, or whatever is written on your t-shirt, challenge yourself by reading D'Souza's recent book, "What's so great about Christianity".

Forget about this provocative bullshit and educate yourself. Take a long shower after this too... we can smell you all the way from here.

"Re-boot your mind"... Oh, shut the fuck up!

  • Jawohl herr obersturmbannidiot

  • The greatest possible way of trying to prove yourself is by challenging yourself. Immerse yourself in the thoughts, true rational thinking, of someone like D'Souza. If you can't it simply means you're all about Sturm und Drang; reactionary, stupid and not to be taken seriously, which is about where you are now.

  • > The greatest possible way of trying to prove yourself is by challenging yourself.

Why don't YOU give it a try, fuckwit?

  • And of course your reaction is going to be "oh here's another closed minded arsehole". Good. You arrived here with the preconception that I never thought about anything anyway, so why should I disappoint you? Never mind the fact that I've been an atheist for 4 decades. You think I haven't a clue. To somebody with that attitude there IS only one valid response: fuck off. And you can make of it what you will.

  • Just as we have the freedom to hold any religion, welaos have the right to be free *from* religion, but those we elect pander to those who squeal the loudest and thus utter such buffonery as "Those who don't believe aren't real Americans." - of course, the subtext there that "Those who don't follow *our* religion aren't real Americans." isn't heard.

  • And that's why it needs pointing out. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice ending, lol!!

  • Yeah. I need to stop it now, before I start suffering from F-word deflation.

  • Whoops. I failed.

  • Wow. What a bunch of jerks. All I hear about atheists in the US is about how much of a raw deal they keep getting. What are they so afraid of?

  • Being the next group to face prosecution. It's a pretty damn valid reason to be afraid.

  • I suppose so. The message of logical thinkers is starting to get louder, and people are starting to toss away what they don't need.

I remember when I was a kid, my dad told me that another word for "religion" was "monarchy". It's pretty much the way it still works, today. Why would anyone want to live like that, or worse, try and force others to?

  • > Why would anyone want to live like that,

I don't know, but they have every right in the world to do so, BUT ...

    > try and force others to

RIGHT THERE is where I draw the line in the sand.

  • the 'Imagine no Religion' on it's own isn't offensive, but the twin towers picture implies that religion or a religion is what destroyed them, which might be offensive.

  • True, but that is my mistake. The actual billboard that got taken down featured no such imagery. Even if it did, it would only be a reason to urge the people who put it up to think of an alternative, NOT to force them to take it down if they were to decide to put it up.

  • Freedom of speech means that you won't be persecuted for what you say, not that every medium out there has to spread your message.

  • Agreed. And if a medium "out there" decides to spread a message and then gets bullied into taking it down again? Is that a problem? I would say it is.

  • I think this is a downside of the free market. If a sufficiently large group decides that they won't use the company's services if it keeps spreading this message, the company may be forced to stop. You can hardly force people to shop there. The only possible solution would be to force the company to carry all legal messages. Is that better?

  • Yes, but you would think that any reasonable message would be able to be broadcasted.

  • Exactly

  • I bet those 90 complaints were actually the same complaint 90 times. They make form letters for that. And if their god can't stop them being offended by other concepts of the universe, just how powerful is it anyway? Hmm???

  • Quite possibly

  • So, I'm thinking of buying a billboard... Anyone else?

  • Good idea. We should do one of them Atheist Bus type campaigns :-)

  • Man, I live in California and I've never heard of this.

Though I'd wager it happened in the central valley, it's way more conservative then the coast around San Fran.

  • Not sure.

  • Fantastic video man. Favorited.

  • Thank you

  • What is there was a billboard advertising the Nazi party? Would you keep that up too? Huh?

  • (rolleyes)

  • lol hilarious!

"if theres a pedophile raping babies on a billboard would you keep it up?"

    youre a sheep :(

  • Quite. Let's see:

Exhibit a) A party that proposes that Jewish people around the world should be put together in one place and then exterminated.

Exhibit b) A group who wants people to consider leading a life without having to worry about what some "god" or other might think.

Yeah. What a great comparison to make.

  • spread it!

  • Please, yes.

  • Funny.

Because I see so many billboards advertising churches and god and god's word..

You never hear anyone complaining about that.

  • WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST!? Exactly. That message gets shoved down my throat regularly.

  • religious people SUCK!!

they keep pushing for laws to "prevent people from pushing their agenda"

they are actually so fucking blind they seriously do not believe that is exactly what they are doing.

  • Quite

  • Or only to those they agree with. Quite.

  • HA! You had me laughing out loud at the end.

It seems in America that everyone espouses the freedom to express oneself, until they hear, or see, something they disagree with.

I've been absent from YT for a bit, but I'm glad to see you're still carrying the torch of reason, and fighting the good fight.

  • Whenever it occurs to me to stop I think about where that might lead.

  • Imagine no religion and no billboards :p

  • LOL

  • I most heartily agree!

  • Thank you!

  • Don't just 'imagine' no religion, let's work towards getting it diagnosed as a serious mental illness (i.e. theists totally believe in the strange voices reported by ancient schizophrenics) characterised as being violently intolerent to all other beliefs and inherently anti-democratic and opposed to freedom of speech and together we can finish all religions forever. It's us or them.

  • Hm.... I don't think the response to oppression is to try and oppress THEM harder. I'm all for letting people be as religious as they want. The moment they want to start spreading it, I will stand in their way.

  • Fuck religion. Not imagine no religion.

  • LOL. There are days when I feel all magnanimous and I'm all for live and let live. Yesterday was NOT one of those days.

  • I would recommend not harassing billboard companies.

What I would suggest to people enraged by this, would be to donate to the FFRF.

Money talks, vote with your wallets people - who cares if a few companies turn us down, eventually somebody will want the cash.

  • Good point indeed. That's it. In the end it's just one gutless billboard company. We can find one more willing to stand up for our rights. If we can't, we'll CREATE one.

  • And if you're in the USA, its all tax deductible and they send you a pretty kickass newspaper once a month!

  • LOUDER! Fuck yeah.

  • FUCK FUCK FUCKETY-FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • Favorited.

  • Thank you!

  • There was a case where the billboards said, "Don't believe in god? You are not alone." and this billboard was taken down.

What is the ironic part is that the people who wanted it removed complained that the message was DIVISIVE!

"You are not alone"......I know, it's divisive.

  • Exactly. And that is why I'm shouting now. It's not like the billboard company decided to do this of their own volition. They would have had every right to do so. No. They were bullied into taking the billboard down. That is intolerable.

  • 01:08-01:19

LOL. No shit. Either we wave our flags, and "bring others democracy", or we continue to suppress thought. It's one or the other, folks.

  • Indeed

  • religion is not the reason of why the twin towers are not there.

its the excuse our government makes up

  • Fuck off truther. Go pedal your bullshit conspiracies elsewhere.

  • Damn right. Why are there so many paranoid retards in the world?

  • Yup. Fuck off. Like ReligionIsACrutch said.

  • Fire can not cause an internal structural collapse of a steel/concrete building.

  • @katey1dog Fire can't cause internal structural collapse of a steel building? Jet fuel can burn at temperatures above 4000 degrees, now, what happens to metal when it gets hot? My point exactly. Fucking hippie.

  • @ysflightman Jet fuel can burn at temperatures above 4000 degrees

    Is that Celsius or Fahrenheit?

WIKI the flashpoint of jet fuel. You'll be pleasantly surprised that the ignition point is 1500*F, or 800*C. Always remember that Jet Fuel is 3/5 kerosene. More akin to refined Diesel.

now, what happens to metal when it gets hot?

Metal expands. Now what happens when fire cools as the jet fuel burns out?

  • @katey1dog Fahrenheit of course. Ignition point =/= high burning temps. What happens when metal gets hot? It expands, when it gets hotter? Expands more and gets weak? When it gets even hotter? It becomes very soft and very weak. I don't think soft and week I-Beams are enought to hold up several hundred tons of building above the destroyed floors. What happens when the jet fuel burns out? The fire keeps on going, the jet fuel was just a starter.

  • @ysflightman Well, I'm glad you researched the temperatures.

think soft and week I-Beams are enought to hold up several hundred tons of building above the destroyed floors

Of course they did. Remember that the building(s) took the hit as they were designed to do. Several hundred tons? That's what buildings do. An airplane collision would only start a fire.

The fire keeps on going, the jet fuel was just a starter.

No, when fuel is expended, fire decreases in magnitude.

  • @katey1dog I meant they aren't enough, excuse me, typo, so, your 'agreeance' is a load of crap. Listen, point is, you act as though you believe 911 was an inside job, if you really believe this, or something similar, do the world a favor, go to a nut-house, and get a clue.

  • @ysflightman

Agreeance? Is that even a word? Listen, the point is simple. FIRE is a naturally occurring phenomenon. Jet Fuel, being 3/5 kerosene, is a cool burning hydrocarbon which expended very quickly when the airplanes impacted. Is it enough to down two of the worlds LARGEST skyscrapers? I doubt it. Because FIRE is the ruling causal factor for the destruction of 3 buildings. Especially knowing that no other tall building prior to or since 9/11 have collapsed by fire similarly.

  • @katey1dog Yes, actually it is. "You are in agreeance." Do you really think the Jet Fuel was the only thing burning? tHe only factor? The jet fuel, the building's contents burning, the structural damage, and other factors had to do with the collapse of the towers. Did the Jet fuel burn quickly? Yes, but is it possible that it, with other factors, rose to higher temps? Hell yes. What is your belief on what happened on 911? You keep dodging that question. Some conspiracy theories right?

  • @ysflightman Do you really think the Jet Fuel was the only thing burning? tHe only factor?

The fuel began a multi-floor office fire. Burning people, the airplane, fax machines, carpet, computers desks, chairs, and the ubiquitous potted plant. But concrete reinforced steel and drywall doesn't burn.

Did the Jet fuel burn quickly? Yes, but is it possible that it, with other factors, rose to higher temps? Hell yes.

Not necessarily. When fire burns it renders solid material into gas.

  • @ysflightman Yes, but is it possible that it, with other factors, rose to higher temps? Hell yes.

To finish, the building was on fire. The burning matter was trapped on those floors directly affected and fire didn't escape (except the lit jet fuel which you accepted burnt quickly) to the lower floors, benefitting the building(s). Now, as fire burns, the smoke generated escapes taking with it the mass of the burning matter. Which has the effect of cooling the fire and reducing mass.

  • @ysflightman What is your belief on what happened on 911?

Four airplanes were hijacked and were slammed into buildings and Pennsylvania. No effort was made into downing EITHER plane knowing that one had collided with Tower 2. The alleged hijackers were trained to fly single-engined Cessnas (many instructors wouldn't let them fly again because they couldn't control the craft(s) in level flight) but managed to successfully commandeer 4 airliners and achieve 75% of their mission.

  • @ysflightman

To continue... The damage caused by the collision of two airliners in New York led to the destruction of three buildings in a manner that many have described as "controlled." The third Tower to fall suffered moderate fire damage on multiple floors above the 8th. It burned for 8 hours without any attempt to suppress the fire. It came down in 6.5 seconds in a neatly compacted and disposable site. Questionable.

All of them came down similarly and symmetrically.

  • @ysflightman In conclusion, I find the Al Quaida theory to be flawed. So flawed that the FBI has not charged Osama Bin Laden with the crime. Though he may be blamed for it, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting that he had ANY involvement.

The majority claim the theory as, I dare say, gospel. Discussing the governments stance on the subject and many people, including atheists, begin to argue like creationists.

  • @katey1dog An example of Jet fuel burning at extremely high temps. In a fighter's after-buring section of the engines exhaust, raw fuel is dumped directly into the air exiting the engine, and ignited solely on the heat of the air. On it's own, the fuel burns at temperatures over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, hence the reason the nozzles in the afterburning section are ceramic, as most advanced metal alloys would soften to the point of structual failure. Now think about those 'soft' steel I-beams.

  • @ysflightman

Interesting. But oxygen and fuel are first mixed in the engine. The engine of course being comprised of titanium, hardened aluminum, and hardened steel. It is specifically designed to withstand high temperatures to produce thrust to propel the airplane. It does not burn either of the elements listed, nor do they lose any integrity.

Concering the "soft" steel beems, that you mention, they were tested during the construction of the buildings to withstand 2000* burns.

  • love the end. "Fuck you" lol... good video

  • Cheers. I don't use the F word often, so hopefully when I do use it it remains effective.

  • Fav'd. Leave that billboard up!!! :P

  • Quite

  • I am an atheist as well, but I have no problems with the company taking it down. But I hope you do find a way to get the message back up! good luck

  • Why not? They didn't do this out of their own volition. They did it after being bullied and harrassed by bigots phoning them.

If they had chosen to take this down of their own volition, I would have had no problem with it either.

  • If a store has overtly religious tones to everything they do, then I will no buy from them. I also tell them why. I believe it is their right to sell what they want and how they want. But if enough people complain, then hopefully they will change their ways. Same with the billboard company, if enough people complain about a billboard then they will take it down in order not to loose business.

  • Now the hard part is to get the USA where it is the religious stuff that is being taken down and not rational ideas. I do support your message, and I do hope you can find a company that is will to stick it out and see if this will loose them business or not.

  • Cheers. The problem is that there is this creepy thing calling itself "the moral majority", and they will bombard those companies that help atheists to spread their ideas with "complaints". And most companies will, naturally, cave in to such pressure. If it happened once, or twice, it wouldn't be such a big deal. But when it keeps happening over and over and OVER again, it eventually adds up to actual oppression. And it DOES keep happening. So we need to take positive action.

  • You have the right to free speech, but that doesn't mean we need to give you a stage and an audience.

  • Very true indeed. But it DOES mean that if somebody DOES give you a stage and an audience, and then they get BULLIED into taking it away again, that there is something very seriously wrong. Especially if it keeps happening over and over again. You tell me. When does it change from a simple choice not to give them a stage to oppression? After how many retractions?

  • They weren't bullied. Some of their customers did not like what they were doing and complained.

  • > Some of their customers

Excuse me? Customers are people who pay for services. Their CUSTOMERS paid them to put the billboard up. Some members of the PUBLIC bullied them into taking them down.

  • These people threatened to stop buying any other products they advertised. That means that the advertisement company's customer's were complaining.

  • Nope. Nobody else advertising on those billboards contacted them to tell them that THEY would be withdrawing their advertising if they didn't take that down.

    Wrong again.

  • If the companies start losing money because a company they are associating with is associating with atheists, they'll be quick to stop associating with that company. The advertisement company just cut it off before that happened.

  • Now you're just clutching at straws.

  • LOUDER!

  • HELL YEAH!!!

  • imagine less people with superstition.

  • That would be fantastic

  • I love that song.

    "...It's easy if you try.

    Nothing to kill,or die for,

    Above us only sky."

  • Yup

  • that effect was badass!

  • Cheers. Still not happy with it though. I wish I could find software that would allow you to separate an object from its background effectively.

  • i hear ya. i just loaded sony vegas, its supposed to be the best one. but its like trying to figure out how to fly the space shuttle.

  • free speech is only relevant to religious people I guess.

  • Yup. Those with the money and/or the power.

  • GAAAAAAH!!! *frustration clenched fists*

  • LET IT OUT!!! SHOUT!!!

  • How dare they suppress freedom of speech and expression? They are allowed to freely demonize other minorities with their non-sensical, bigoted, offensive preachings and they want us to shut up just because their feelings are hurt? FUCK THEM!!!

  • Exactly. It's that mindblowing disproportionate response that always gets me. "You use bad language when I tell you it is right and just that you should be tormented for all eternity after you die? How naughty of you!"

  • If I could have only one wish granted it would be a world with out religion, I think after that we'd fix all are other problems , quite quickly. Yes let's shout louder!

  • YES INDEED!!!

  • Yes, the billboard should never have been taken down. But thats not what I care about, I think it is distasteful to use the Trade Towers. I am not however offended, nor asking you to take down or change your video, but Ill tell you this, I can also Imagine a world with No Religion and still having enough hate, division, and aggression for those towers to have been taken down.

  • Even though they may have been taken down for religious purposes (even thats debatable), they must now be seen as a reminder of our struggle to overcome that which divides us.

  • That's fair enough and I agree.

  • Sure. But in the event they WERE taken down by Islamic fundamentalists.

Anyway... I tried to find a high quality image of the original billboard in California, but only found this one. Same text, different imagery.

  • Californians should make a bumper sticker that looks like the billboard while this incident is fresh on those bigots' minds, or something.

Or not, their cars would probably get keyed.

  • It's worth it. Just make the "keyed look" the latest fashion statement in cars :-)

  • The production quality of this video is awesome. Btw cosmiksgirl just made a video about this too. Also, it seems to me that John Lennon said this a long time ago. So much for freedom of speech in California...

  • Actually her user name is cozmiksgirl66. She does good vids...Check out her channel if you want more info on this.

  • LOL! I love it! Favorite and 5 stars!

  • Cheers

  • I would love to see a big atheist movement across the world. And, to also spread the message for peace, as well. Imagine no religion. Power to the people. :)

  • A big atheist movement is not very likely, but if atheists can get together whenever this fight needs to be fought, that'll be a good thing.

  • Yeah, I realize that it probably wouldn't be likely to happen any time soon, considering how the world is nowadays. But, it would be great to see something like that happen in the far future.

  • "I understand people have freedom of speech, but this is taking it too far. It's very jarring."

So because your fragile belief system can't tolerate simple questions, we should silence everyone that disagrees with you?

  • huh? Who said that!?

  • "Judy Rooze, administrator of First Baptist Church of Rancho Cucamonga, which is two blocks from the billboard"

    Source: pe(dot)com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_S_atheist21.44263f8.html

  • The next billord is going to be "Religion is poison."

  • Damn right it is. I mean - damn right it is the next billboard. And make sure it's with a company that will NOT cave in to pressure. It's not that I agree with that message per se, but it has as much right to be "out there" as the "WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST" message that I keep getting shoved down my throat.

  • Well, look deeper into it: Not only do christian zealots force their rolemodel of marriage on others (as in: they don't want to give gay people the right to get married), also other kinds of marriage are denied legal status by those zealots (like polyamory, polyandry, polygyny). This is just one of the many examples were christian standards are forced on people that are not christian, no matter if they have never been christian or if they have left "the church".

  • Indeed

  • Very well said (and shouted.)

I am embarrassed for, and ashamed of California lately.

*looks for rooftop to scream from*

  • It's not just California.

  • Fantastic Video. Maybe I should start complaining about the 1000's of Billboards in our town that promote God. Like "Don't make me come down there" or I saw That. God. I guess the 90 callers to the Billboard company also lack Imagination?

  • Exactly. Every now and again, when I'm on the bus on the way to work, I have this idiotic "WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST" message shoved in my face. It offends me. Am I going to demand it be taken down? No.

  • Freedom of speech is the enemy of those who would oppress others. This is a victory for atheism over religion.

  • Cheers

  • woah take it easy man

life is not about hating religion

  • Life isn't about hating free speech. Why do you hate free speech?

  • Bam! Exactly.

  • Life is about being free from religious pressure. Therefore, I strongly support this video.

  • dont know where you got that flawed definition of life from but if you want to continue wasting your life then that is up to you

  • And fuck you too.

  • My life has been greatly impacted by religious pressure, and I feel free when not under control by christian ideas. What is left, is to make the obvious obvious for the rest of the people that I care about. I suffer when I see people letting religious ideas control their lives, rather than their innate moral sense.

  • Thank you

  • I don't hate religion. I hate bastards who would have me silenced for saying I'm not religious. Typically, such bastards are religious, but I am well aware that that does NOT make all religious people bastards. Now, mannypatel1, are YOU going to speak out against this abomination? No. I didn't think so.

  • Life would be so much better if it was.

  • Religion teaches inappropriate control.

  • Yup

  • Imagine if Christians didn't get offended.

  • Now that WOULD be hard to do

  • My comment from my video on this story:

"We know that just because a private business decides to censor their customers that's not a first amendment issue but this is a free speech issue anyway you slice it. On top of that, it's also a first amendment issue as well. The CITY GOVERNMENT pressured the sign company into taking the sign down. That's where the violation of the first amendment comes into play."

  • Exactly. It's a form of bullying.

  • I haven't see the bus adverts in DC but in Edinburgh the God-people ran an advert with a rainbow, saying 'There is HOPE'. Inspired by this, a local butcher ran a second advert with a rainbow, saying 'There is HOPE of a better HAGGIS; get yours at McSweens, Bruntsfield Place.' I imagine the God-folk were offended but the Haggis advert stayed up.

  • LOL!

    Was it a wild haggis?

  • Sure, the best haggises are all wild; they catch them in nets to save the skins. We LOLd.

  • The USA is fifty years behind Europe, that's all.

  • LOL

  • I would love to see a big uprising of the atheist movement. For too long we have allowed the faith based to get away with their shenanigans.

  • Exactly. And it's as if the bastards are going "oppressing blacks is no longer PC, oppressing homos is no longer tolerated. Who can we still target with impunity? Oh. YEAH. The godless crowd".

Well they're fucking with the wrong bunch this time.

  • I predict that it won't take long before we see a major movement. I may be wrong but I have had more people come up to me since moving to this town to proudly let me know of their de-conversion. One of my co-workers told me of his de-conversion and he was very religious. He told me that it wasn't my atheism that got him reading between the lines. It was my pride in who I am and lack of fear to be open about who I am.

  • Great.

  • I'm offended when christians say "you have a creator" I'm offended when muslims say "allah akbar" Let's ban religion!
