  • totally awesome :D

  • the minute he started singing I couldn't stop laughing.

  • Kavalee is like a rainbow on Christmas day at George Michael's house.

  • Release date???

  • I want Ed Kavalee to flirt with me while wearing a stegosaurus costume.

  • Is the Terrace boatshed behind the camera?

  • I will marry Josh Lawson someday...

Oh dear lord, he such such a sexy funny cute little guy. Lolll. <3 <3 <3

  • @MrsKretschmann Josh have you been drinking again?

  • Richard Marsland lives!

  • Wow. Awesome on all counts. Mainly because it made me laugh and (as I'm currently going through my final exams for school, a.k.a. TEE) that's pretty hard to do.

Also, is it worth hiring a high quality video camera (for about $120 per day) if your budget is $9000? I'm filming my first ever solo production this summer and the numbers are freaking me out.

  • Can't wait for it to come out on dvd. Hopefully I'll get a special for renting it along with Meat Pie and Shortbus

  • lol wtf?

  • This is the short film $quid. $quid is now an 80-minute Feature film starring Josh Lawson, Ed Kavalee, Henry Nixon, Christian Clark and Toby Truslove. Release dates coming soon...

  • holy awesome

  • got to love the fubu gear and nissan exa line....classic get this ...all it needed was some this is dizzy stuff folks or how come and it would be perfect

  • Cant wait til the actual film comes out. This is good, but the feature film will be better!!!!!!!

  • what's on the box, what's on the box today?

    *watches $quid*

that's a big gay *uh wooogah*

  • i read bout this in zoo magazine, isnt there more to it? or is this all that was made

  • I don't buy Ed as an actor if he doesn't use his catchphrase "Feel the Steel"...

  • I think it is him singing. Sounds like him at certain points, which it wouldnt if someone else was singing

  • LOVE IT!!! They need more shows/ short films/ feature filmsstarring Ed AND Josh! They work so well together

  • these two are clearly in love.. i mean its obvious...

  • It was interesting enough to watch twice though. Thanks shambolicentity.

  • Innovative and even creative but, fuck, also wholly indulgent. Yes, you can act, so why do you have to sing too!

  • Australians haven't seen such a heartfelt homoerotic performance since the days of the Gus and Dave KFC ad.

  • approved

  • Josh and Ed make an undying duo.

  • It was good, but somebody explain to me the point...

  • Swimming in the brisbane river..

    EW

  • hahah that was preety good Daley, good work.. Josh & Ed are both great in it

  • "i owe it money" ahahahah. thats prety funny. I adore both of them :P

  • Ahh... that shade of brown... what other river could it be? Who wouldn't buy junk and stuff with a million dollars? Certainly not I...

  • Glad to finally get to see this, great dialogue! Well done.'

    Anyway, Save 'Get This;

  • haha...gosh that was hilarious...great stuff...HAHA...josh is awesome!

  • haha, Ed saying "great costume" cracks me up

  • Second.

  • longest 7.07 minutes of my life....

  • its actually very moving

  • that was great. Ed rocks!

    Loved the song!

  • Daley mate this is total gold.Ed and Josh were pure class, this is both a comedic gem and poignancy at its very best.Love it dude

  • Thanks Dad, I really appreciate the comments. But there's no 'I' in team as 'The Ducks' say. We had a brilliant team on the short as we do for the feature.

I think you're going to love the feature. Thanks again for your comments.

    Burning Down the House,

    Daley

  • A musical too!

  • That was freaking awesome. From an ex QUT student now working as a director overseas. Anyone who asks if that is supposed to be naturalistic are f###ed in the head? Its freaking comedy! Thats some funny s##t. Look forward to the feature. "Great costume!"

  • film in Australia and i really respect anyone whos done the work to actully make a film, and you've done better than me. by the way don't watch my films, they're shit and i've made better ones since

  • Thanks for the honest comments. We had nine weeks rehearsal and our budget was one million dollars.

  • what, is this suppose to be naturalistic, cause it seems like a surreal, non-naturalistic concept but then the dialouge and the look makes it seem like a naturalistic short

  • jruse2008, did you like it?

  • well i think its well done, in the cineamatography, music and editing but i think the story and concept needed some work as it was confusing, it was hard to figure wheather it was suppose to be a surreal film or a naturalistic film. And as much as i love Ed and Josh, some reherasals would've helped their performance. But i know this would have been done on a strict budget like most Australian films are the two things i suggested and critised would have most probably been imposible. Really good

  • MARSLAND!

  • The team from $quid is currently in pre-production for our first feature film, $quid [based on the short].

It's getting better all the time,

    Daley

  • so good, if there is a blooper real, you should post that up too, ed and josh are to cool!

  • Should've been entered into MIFF this year. Just got back from seeing a whole bunch of short films and remembered watching this one - I reckon it could've been up for consideration. :)

  • should be nominated for a logie for best short film

  • LOLOLOL

  • Hello - Thank you for watching and supporting $quid!

    -Best Overall Film

    -Best Independent Drama

Thank you for all your support. It has been greatly appreicated.

  • funny stuff Ed & Josh. Get This...Some back ground Toto music at Ed's arrival back to boat would be classic. Good humour boys.

  • Ahhh luke, you are a genius! I remember reading this script ages ago in tapes. Loved it back then, and love it now!

  • There is no squid in this movie!!!!! I have watched it 1000 times and there is no squid! Who made this?

  • Bloody awesome guys

  • I was waiting for Ed to bust out with some John Mayer at the end there

  • this is a freakin classic. hope to see more of the kavalee lawson duo

  • I gotta have more cowbell. And synth......

  • This is pretty darn great, and so was the film fiesta so good job boys. Brisbane film making need more support so I shall tell all my 'friendz' about this :)

    Peace out, Lucy

  • i'm sure that is just up the road near Rich River NSW not Brissie River. That's how the Squid got the money to lend Chris...LOL Don't SSSHHHUSSSH ME! i have a dino costume to wear....LOL Ed you are a classic.

  • Love the singing Josh, now we just need Ed to sing like he does so well on Get This :)

  • Wow.... That was really random! Well done. I don't know whats harder; writing something with substance and a logical plot, or writing something random like that! I mean c'mon, a loan-shark squid (would that make it a loan-squid :p), who comes up with that stuff? Geniuses, thats who!

    *Ooooooo me plums!*

  • hahaha what the hell was that?? =D

  • What did Ed do, eat the squid??? And how the HELL does a squid get money to lend to someone. It's not like they can get a job or open a bank or something. No, there's too many plot holes for me. "Lets just sit in a row boat on a river and talk". I don't think so, not Aussie males. There should have been beer and fishing, then it would have looked realistic. Mmmmmm, beer and calamari.

  • Fruit City!!! But Pretty damn good!

  • meh, needs more giant squid action...

  • You know, a Nissan Nivara would've given you the pulling power to not only get out of that situation but catch the squit too.

  • I wonder how much money ed's character ending up loaning from the squid?

  • Can people STOP going on about Ed's sexual preference...who cares???? He is an artist!! He does not need to be judged by a bunch of "hopefuls" who want to get in his pants and have nothing intelligent or worthy to say about his performance as an actor...

  • So this is what you were up to on the EVE of the famous CAPRIL FINALE

This performance deserves a box of sand.

  • TREMENDOUS! fantastic sizzle and traction.

  • HAHAHA!!! at exactly 24 seconds we see a subconcious resurgance of Ed's Gus character as he stares lovingly and longingly into Josh's eyes! There is definately some fruity undertones going on in all of Kavalis's work... It's even straight out blunt when Bob Franklin tries to come out of the closet with him on TGYH!!

  • Heard about it on Get This, vowed to check it out and bugger me if I didn't laugh my guts up at the sheer nonsense! Josh and Ed, you both did great jobs (so did Stunt Ed). Ed, the next one you do should have you in a dinosaur outfit and feature Tony Martin as a cameo... Or just work a stegosaurus into one of the skits on 'Thank God You're Here'! Two thumbs way up, fellas.

  • wow this is better that I thought it would be. Cool stuff.

  • Love the very realistic sneeze that is thrown in, in the end of the film. One may beleive that it wasn't a scripted sneeze

  • i just heard about this on 'get this' so i thought it would be worth a look... too bad it kept stopping half way through... the half i saw was good though.. 5 out of 7

  • I owe a squid a quid too. Guess I'll have to avoid the Brisbane River. Which should be easy, since I live in Sydney.

  • do you really think it is the Brissie River? if it is, It looks really full........can you please ship it down to vic, we are in dire need of some water....cheers

  • Umm...i know this was done in tongue and cheek but it didn't have the effect it was supposed too for me...Ed's performance was a little flat (but love his efforts on TGYH)Josh was ok..thumbs down for scripting :( sorry don't wanna be a drag but i think i had too much expectations about this short film cos i am a fan of Ed's i respect him as a performer....but on the upside the cinematography was great!!!

  • You're sooooo wrong about the script missgOObee, i thought it was fantastic dialouge, real honest male conversation (not too mention hilarious). You can tell theyre really old friends and theyre saying more in what theyre NOT saying to each other. Maybe its just a man thing, surpressed emotions and such.

They should have entered this in tropfest or something, it totally would have won!!

  • Ah Ed, love your work. Like the lime green where's wally look. Keep up the good work with Tony and Richard on "Get This"

  • Great short film... Didn't know that Josh could sing or was he lipsyncing?

Ed is soo spunky in this!!!
