  • This is easily one of my favorite videos on YouTube. Watched the whole thing. Thanks for posting it.

  • day 3. the reaction was hilarious!!!

  • If you're interested in personality typing, you might want to look up "ENFP". It should suit you quite well.

Over all it was a cool video. I love the guy at 13:10. xD

..and the guy at 15:00 is totally stealing electricity from someone.

  • love the downbeat humour

  • Thanks a lot for this incredible tour .

  • I usually dont get emotional in comments, but the guitar guy at 14:37 moved me. He played such a lovely tune, with a busy Tokyo night as his backdrop. It was beautiful. A part of me wants to know, "Why play there?... Why play THAT song?..." Maybe it was for someone he loved or missed, or maybe he just likes that song, who knows U_U. It sucks that I'll most likely never get the answer, but at the same time I'm just glad I got to listen, even for that little bit. ^_^

  • @poagao : nice, thanks for sharing this. Are you sagitarian, you seem love to travel --- alone? lol.

  • @calpicox I do; it's my favorite kind of travel. But I am a Capricorn.

  • How much did the trip cost?

  • @Dumbmajor9696 About US$1000.

  • @poagao Really? Damn. And here I was getting estimates of 4k.

  • @Dumbmajor9696 It depends on where you're traveling from. I traveled there from Taipei.

  • @poagao that included your room and all your meals?

  • @Zlykin Not including meals, but eating wasn't that expensive. The round-trip ticket from Taipei was NT$19,000, which is expensive as it's the Chinese New Year period; the room was about NT$1500 a night for 10 nights, and that adds up to about NT$33000, which was at the time about US$1000. Meals were about NT150 apiece average.

  • @poagao alright, cool. thanks for the reply. I want to make it there within the year hopefully, and if i like it, I may make the move. Would knowing the language be helpful, or would english be plenty enough to get around/communicate?

  • @Zlykin English is fine for a visit, but I'd think knowing the language would be advisable if you want to live there.

  • Congratulations on the video. ❶⓿

  • Great video! I lived in Tokyo for ten years before moving to Taiwan, and watching this made me "homesick".

  • haha your funny, i want to go to tokyo but this is a good way to see it... good video

  • minut 17:05 apears a yakuza capoXD

  • Great video, just enjoyed your trip!!! It made 3 young guys from Spain remember the best trip we ever done to Japan!! Specially emotive the Vangelis theme!!

  • @haibara10 Glad you liked it. It is my favorite trip so far in my memory.

  • Great video.

  • Olha! eu gostei deste vídeo porque voce meu amigo é simplesmente não fala muito e deixa a gente viajar sem lero lero, muito bom !

  • ROFL highlights: 20:49 ("Seriously, don't any of these people have jobs?"), 21:50 ("We finally have proof that the Godzilla movies were actually real because apparently he left a giant turd on one of the buildings."), and 22:05 ("The world's slowest train, ladies and gentlemen."). Love your deadpan narrative. You're a riot!

  • damn, how do you squeeze 52 min of video into youtube? btw, nice video, it shows us around in Tokyo.

  • Hello Poagao!

I'm happy to meet your videos. I like especially "12Days in tokyo"and "Tokyo again".The videos remind me of the years I lived in tokyo.

Another videos make me want to go trip. Your video tell me interesting scene of Japan. I hope you go trips and upload fine videos.

Where are you scheduled to go trips this year? Thank you!

  • @zaku955 I'm glad you enjoyed them. I'm still not sure about this year's itinerary. Maybe a trip to the US.

  • Was it difficult to get around Tokyo without knowing Japanese??

  • @SuperFMDS Not really. Everything's pretty convenient, and I can read Kanji already.

  • Your room was pretty small. What do you expect for roughly $65 a night.

  • @ThreeCatsScratching It was plenty big enough for me, I don't need that much space.

  • Thanks for sharing this video with us. I have been contemplating going to Tokyo on vacation for a few years, hoping to make it in 2011 :)

  • Lol 19:43 look at the old man in the back :P

  • I really miss all the live street music in Tokyo. Here in Brisbane there's hardly any of it.

  • great video, thanks for sharing :) :)

  • You don't feel depressed traveling by yourself to far-away places, bro?

  • @Einhander49 No, I like the feeling of freedom, and Tokyo isn't that far away anyway.

  • Do they speak english in the hotels? Just wondering because i will be making a visit to Tokyo and possibly living there in my future.

  • @liljay227 At the little places I stayed, they only spoke a little, and not very well. However, if you plan to live there, I'd suggest learning at least basic Japanese.

  • @poagao Oh okay. thanks.

  • @poagao alright. thanks

  • XD kirspy kream HALUY LU LA! XD XD

  • AWSOME SOUNDTRACK!

  • cool video thANKS

  • Oh my god I saw whole 52mins video.

Somehow I like the way of showing , music ,comments and so on.

  • @iriat82 Congratulations on getting through the whole thing. It was actually one of the best trips I've ever taken.

  • i go to Japan Tokyo in 2011 in August hehehe =)

  • did you go ALONE?

  • @traceur73 Yes, my best trips are when I go places alone.

  • do you go to any clubs n shit??

  • @NebunLaCap I went to one bar in Shinjuku but it wasn't terribly interesting.

  • What's the name of the song that starts at 13:26 ?

    Please, tell me.

  • It looks quite different from here in South Korea. Japan looks much more like the western world than Korea.

Although the business centres of Seoul such as Gangnam and Jong-ro look like Japan, the rest of Korea still has a third-word kind of feel to it.

  • this was great! this way I get a bit of an impression how it will be for me to visit Tokyo on my own in November, can't wait!

  • I love this video. Kinda Lost in Translation feeling

  • you have officially inspired me. im doing the same thing in dec for 12 days too. awesome vid.

  • do you plan to go back again to japan?

  • @trumpetplayer231 I'd like to at some point.

  • also how much is a plane ticket there?

  • @trumpetplayer231 At Chinese New Year it was about NT$19,000 from Taipei, round trip on Cathay Pacific. That was in early 2008 though.

  • did you know japanese or i mean becasue if so how long does it take to learn it fluently? im 14 and one day want to come here to tokyo japan :)

  • @trumpetplayer231 I only know a few phrases, but since I know Chinese I can read many of the signs.

  • cool video, but why would you go all on your own ? i don't mean to be rude or anything, i was just wondering, were you not like bored at all ?

  • @DrunkTankMusic I usually have a much better time when I'm alone. I'm free to observe, going at my own pace, wherever I like, without having to consider someone else's plans or expectations. I find it's hard to truly experience a place with such distractions.

  • @poagao yeah i kinda get what you mean, if i'm with people i end up not doing what i set out to do in full, but since i'm 17, i like need people there to so i'm not like wasting my money in 1 night or getting lost and that lol

  • thx for uploading :)

  • smart wearing a mask for your health, thumbs up!

  • I dont get it. Youtube says you can only upload a 10 min video, so the fuck did you upload a 52 min video?!!!

  • @TheArshavinator I applied for and got a director account.

  • @poagao c00l

  • @TheArshavinator Its roughly ten minutes, it actually isn't the length, but the size of the video. It isn't Hd like he said, but 52 mins of 480p video is pushing the border. SO some can be longer, but idk how he did it by that much =\

  • @jarostone This is too complicated lol.

  • This is a nice travel video.

  • very cool thanks so much for sharing

  • I must know, what is the name of the song that starts at 13:27?

  • @Raevensong Sorry, I can't read the Japanese, it's from a CD of old Japanese songs.

  • the guy who played the guitar was realy good(14:37)

  • Was a pleasure to see this video, thinking on going back to Tokyo?

  • @morfes , nvm, just saw u uploaded a new tokyo video, I'm going to see it to. Cheers.

  • most places are not nice during the winter this is strange that he will go there during this season

  • @butch1026 It was the only time I had off at the time.

  • I like the "invisible japanese women speaking of me .. about safety" part - it was funny, very nice music also. Thanks for the upload.

  • you look like the Canadian survivor guy from discovery channel.

  • nice video! I like it!!

    すごい~!!

  • ok how many other people squinted at 50:45!! lol :D

  • Ha!

  • everyone did....!

  • :D +++++

  • Que excelente trabajo!! muy buen film... :D *+.

  • Gracias.

  • That guy at 14:48 was really good at that guitar and i feel bad for him.

  • I agree, he was better than most of the other musicians there.

  • @SuperMr30 Why do you feel bad for him? He's amazing at guitar and having a good time busking and doing something he obviously enjoys. Many people busk as a hobby. I doubt he's homeless or anything seeing as he has a decent guitar and amp.

  • @SuperMr30 it's a bass, he's not just "really good", he's amazing. It's extremely hard mastering that technique he uses.

  • One of the best movies on Youtube!

  • Thanks.

  • LMAO the styling guy 17:07 xD

  • Yeah, me too.

  • I'm just surprised you didn't get lost in those narrow Tokyo streets, if it was me

I'd be too scared to wander too far from my hotel. Super video though.

  • Are you kidding? It's the alleys I love the most.

  • Oh, I totally agree, in fact I was straining my eye in the hope of seeing a little bit of Ozu in those narrow streets.

  • nice video thanx for uploading^^

  • You must make good money to stay 2 weeks there.

  • I do ok; it's not as expensive to fly there from Taipei as it would be from the US or Europe, and the hotel was cheap.

  • Yea I would be traveling from the US so it will burn a hole in my account :)

  • This guy is pretty grumpy.

  • Yeah, he is.

  • hello dude, first, i really enjoy your videos and your clever remarks as if i was travelling with you there, love to see more of this... btw, i'm interested in the music you played after the river cruise you were alone on a high building, what's the title of that music? thanks!

  • It's from the theme from "Missing" by Vangelis.

  • wow thanks i was really thinking vangelis or yanni, whenever i'm bored in my room late night, i can travel the world by watching your videos, thanks TC and more power!

  • Wonderful.

    素晴らしい動画ですね。

  • this video length is incredibly long how did you upload it? i thought we are not allowed to upload more than 12 minutes i am so lame lol ... brilliant vid 5 stars

  • @1234567loading I have a director account.

  • beautiful and very useful!may j ask u which was your hotel in tokyo and which zone?

    ciao cheers from italy!

  • @spikelive I stayed in Ueno at a business hotel.

  • You really look like Edward Norton in American History X

  • Everyone keeps saying that. I really should see the movie.

  • so did you like Japan or China better?

  • Both are cool, but in different ways. Tokyo is definitely cleaner and more convenient, but in China I could communicate with everyone.

  • Part 2

-How much did it cost ticket wise to travel from the States to Japan and back?(American)

-On top of that, how much did you spend while there?

This includes Traveling, food, hotels, anything.

-Where would you say your favorite place to visit was, or your favorite thing to do?

Answers to these questions, and any other beneficial information you could give me would be much appreciated.

  • I have been teaching myself Japanese, and I am fascinated by the language and the culture. I have been dreaming of going to Tokyo for a long time now, and I have a couple of questions I hope you would answer.

-How much Japanese do you know, and how much do you think you would need to know to survive?

-I am a very picky eater. To someone who is used to American food, would you say the food there is similar? If not, are there American eatery's abundant?

  • I know very little Japanese, and while it's pretty easy to get by without it, I think I should learn some. I can read the characters, however, so I was able to read signs, know what shops were, place names, however.

American food is pretty easy to find in Tokyo, at least downtown.

I flew from Taiwan, so I have no idea how much flying from the US costs. I spent about US$1000.

My favorite places were little corners and alleys of the city.

  • Really nice!!

  • thank you man

  • Wonderful indeed!! Those where the best 52 minutes Ive spent all day :p by the way, would you mind posting the soundtrack you used for the video?

  • u had the luxury of a toilet, i envy u

  • You have to apply for a "director" account to submit longer videos, I think. At least that's how it used to work.

    Woohoo! Lucky number :D

  • By the way, how the hell did you manage to upload a 52 minute video??? I any video I try to upload over 10 minutes get rejected.

  • Wow! This is a much longer video than I expected. The old guy talking to himself was interesting :D

  • fantastic clips buddy!

I'd love to go there once

  • excellent video! nice to watch! also thanks for talking in to a camera. not behind it! well done!
