  • can u use an universal control from the 99cent store

  • I have an idea why don't they make a converter box only 20 dollars and the government can give you a ten dollar coupon so we can get DTV alot sooner. Because lets face it converter boxes isn't going to give you the same experience as a nice ass HDTV.

  • For true HD you need to have an HDTV.

The conveter box just take the new digital signal and converts it back to the old original anolog signal that your older tv. was recieving before the introduction of digital DTV.

  • It is funny people just think when they get an HDTV there getting HD. There not you have to upgrade to HD programming and that cost some money to do that. How i know i have an HDTV.

  • I have a 1080i capable plasma HDTV and for right now I'm happy just watching BluRay DVD's with it. However, I'd like to try the converter. Will I be seeing true HDTV using one of these over-the-air converter boxes on a network channel like NBC which has the little HDTV logo in the corner? I not sure because the all the converter boxes lack the HDMI connection. Thanks

  • These converter boxes do not give true HD They simply take the digital signal and convert it back to the old anolog signal but you will gate a very clear picture with no distortion or noise. Check to see if your plasma Tv. already has a digital tunner you might not even need one of these converters.

  • !! why is the government involved in this !!

  • because its over public airwaves that the FCC controls who has what frequencies. Without some sort control there would be chaos and nothing would come in

  • @twinsman0104 FCC deals in a lot more than that, what you're talking about was their original purpose, which IMHO could have been easily handled by the electric utility.

  • thanks for the video ^_^

  • never mind i just read a comment

  • is their a converter box with 1080p?

also is their one with componet cables instead of av?

  • I got the same brand just a few months ago. I got 20 channels.

  • Any one who no abought this will tell you you can still get analog signel. it will just be a weeker one. the way it works is the digityal is sent down the analog sig. that is wi most boxes will hase a analog passthrew.

Just wate and you will see you will still get analog. and when you do the goverming will give some excuise to wi. and yes i cant spell well.

  • After much searching I found the overpriced SAMSUNG DTB-H260F with component video connections.

  • are there any convter box with component video cable connection. I assume you would get a better picture vs s video or composite.

  • These converters that I reviewed do not have component video. They have single composit video and stereo out. Red = Right audio wHITE = Left or nono audio Yellow = Video out

RF CABLE ant in RF Cble OUT TO TV.

I an sure there are other models that have component video and S Video.

  • Are those pennies on the table the change left over from buying those? LOL!

  • YAH they are LOL.

  • seriously man, show it in action brother!

  • i just got the dtx9950 at rs.get it! it's the best one.also has analog through.9950 not 9900.

  • this guy doesn't get the joke about foof! you don't have a roof? duh!

  • if you still have one more coupon, steve, get the insignia model at best buy, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the sensitivity. Also, if you live in an urban area, the PHDTV1 rocks and doesn't "foof" around.

  • how do i get stronger signal and how do i get more channels

  • Getting a good strong signal can be acheaved by using an outdoor fooftop antenna I will be making a video explaining how to choose the right location to install it. watch for it

  • I don't have a "foof". Can I still mount this kind of antenna?

  • You dont have a roof? Do you live in a multi level complex?

  • yes a foof will work.i get the joke but the poster doesn't.wakeup people!

  • get an outdoor antenna or a better more powerfull antenna

The converter box is also ideal if you have satellite but you recieve your locals through an antenna which is my senario! I do not pay the satllite company for locals instead i use the rca dta800 for my locals! It saves you 5 bucks a month 60 bucks a year!!

  • For indoor peoples, a ZHDTV1 seems to be doing the trick.

  • u sound like my technology teacher

  • I got this box from Radio Shack a couple weeks ago. Works great!

  • how much was it

  • $59.99 at Radio Shack. With the $40 coupon, it's about 25 bucks with tax.

  • The RCA DTA 800 converter box is the cheapest you get right away. It is $49.87 but it will only bye $9.87 after the coupon!! I have a video demonstration about this particual converter please go to my channel to view the videos!!

  • nice!
